Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

For the past few years, we have organised a Book Rental and Workbook Purchase Scheme. We have done extensive
research to try to provide the best value to parents. Last year, every family availed of this scheme due to its
convenience and its huge cost saving benefits. We understand that it is expensive for parents to send their children
back to school. Our goal is not to make money from the scheme but to make it as affordable as possible for parents
whilst also ensuring the school does not lose money as a result.

Unfortunately, book prices have gone up dramatically in price this year. We have tried to adjust our lists to keep the
price as low as possible. The cost to parents is €70 for Junior and Senior Infants, €80 for First and Second Class,
and €90 for Third to Sixth Class. This cost (€70 - €90) includes all the books that your child will need for the
coming year, including workbooks, copies, folders and site licences. If you wish to purchase the books outside of the
school book rental scheme, the price of the book lists varies from €84 - €179. Our school reuses textbooks as much
as possible and can purchase the workbooks in bulk at a discount; therefore, there is a significant saving to you. The
scheme also saves parents/guardians the task of collecting, covering, labelling, and putting student names on books.
Your child will need some small stationery items - this stationery list is on our school website. Due to spiralling costs
for parents, Art, Craft & Photocopying moneys for the coming year will be reduced to €55 for your first child & €45
for each additional child.

As we are acutely aware that this is an expensive time for parents, we have decided to continue to reduce the price
for parents with multiple children in the school. If you have two children, then there is a €10 reduction for the
second child and a further €20 reduction for the third child making a saving of €30 for those with 3 children. For
anyone with more than 3 children please contact Linda in the office for an exact price.

If you wish to partake in our book rental and workbook purchasing scheme, you will need to return the correct
rental money no later than Wednesday the 24th of August as we will be giving out the books on the first day of school.
Linda will be sending out payment instructions for the e-payment scheme in the coming days.

The approximate cost of the book lists should you wish to purchase them yourself are detailed on our school
website:

⮚ The pupils will receive their full complement of books on the first day back in the new school year.
⮚ The textbooks supplied under the scheme will remain at all times the property of the school.
⮚ Books supplied under the scheme will be good quality second hand.
⮚ These will be allocated at the discretion of the Book Rental Coordinator.
⮚ Entry into the scheme requires rental of all relevant books for that class.
⮚ The purchase of pens, pencil cases, rulers and a few other stationary items will remain the responsibility of the
parents.

It is essential that for the book rental scheme to work effectively that all books are returned in a suitable condition so
as to reduce the costs for parents. The effectiveness of the scheme requires the school to be able to rent out the
books a number of times so as to ensure that we can buy new books when required. It is therefore the responsibility
of the parent/guardian to replace any books that are lost or damaged. We thank you for your continued support.

Yours Sincerely,

Claire Moloney David
