Description

The Vitzro tech. vacuum circuit breakers are designed to handle all the switching that
occur primary distribution systems, their energy-storing mechanisms being capable of
triple-pole auto-reclosure.
The vacuum circuit breakers are extremely reliable in service, require only a minimum of
maintenance and long life expectancy.
The vacuum circuit breakers meet the requirements of IEC60056 and ANSI C37.06.
The energy-storing spring mechanism can be supplied for actuation by hand or motor.
The three breaker poles, each with a vacuum interrupter, are mounted on a common
truck housing.
The moving contacts in vacuum interrupters are opened and closed by springs.
In order to ensure the maximum performance and dependable operation, it is suggested
that the operator reads this instruction manual carefully to be well acquainted with all the
features of this vacuum circuit breaker.

Safety precaution

This vacuum circuit breaker uses powerful springs for energy storage.
Do not work on the interrupters and mechanisms unless both the closing
and tripping spring are discharged all electrical source is removed.

3-2 Operation
3-2-1 Operation
(1) Charging operation (Fig.5∼9)
When the charging motor 2-4 equipped with closing hook roller 2-11 is excited,
the bevel gear 2-13 fitted to the driving shaft 2-12 starts rotating for swinging
the ratchet wheel 2-16 . When the driving pawl 2-14 moves in the direction of
arrow, the ratchet wheel 2-16 fitted to the cam shaft 2-15 turns clockwise
At this time, the cam clutch 2-23 engages with the cam shaft 2-15 to prevent
reverse rotation.
Then, the driving pawl moves back to left and left and engages with the next
ratchet wheel 2-16 .With this operation repeated, the ratchet wheel advances
tooth by tooth to rotate the cam shaft 2-15. When the cam shaft 2-15 starts
rotating, the crank 2-20 fitted together is rotated to compress the closing
spring 2-1.
When the crank 2-20 is further rotated and passes the dead point, the closing
hook roller fitted to the cam shaft engages with the closing hook to complete the
charging operation. In this case, the closing spring 2-1 is set in charging mode.
At the completion of charging operation, the limit switch 2-3 is reset by the
cam 2-19 fitted to the cam shaft to deenergize the charging motor 2-4, whereby
the charging motor 2-4 stops running.
When the charging motor 2-4 deenergized, it still Keeps for a few seconds by
means of inertia, but the driving pawl 2-14 slides over the ratchet pawl dead
portion 2-17 to prevent over-charging.
On the other hand, the charge-discharge indicator 2-5 is operated by the lever
2-22 to indicate " Charging".

(2) Closing operation (Fig 11∼13)

Fig. 12 shows that closing spring 2-1 is charged and the vacuum circuit breaker is
open. At this time, if a closing command is given, the closing coil 2-7 is activat-
ed to disengage the closing hook from the closing hook roller 2-21 thus dischar-
ging the closing spring 2-1.
When the closing spring 2-1 is discharged, the cam shaft 2-15 is rotated by
the crank 2-20 .
Since the closing cam 2-18 fitted to the cam shaft 2-15 moves down, the
cam follower fitted to the operating shaft 3-1 starts rotating.
At the same time, the lever 3-2 fitted to the operating shaft closes the vacuum
interrupter 4-1 via the insulation rod 3-6. .
At the completion of closing operation, the trip hook roller 2-26 fitted between
the trip hook 2-28 and the operating shaft 3-1 is engaged to hold the clos-
ing condition.
The tripping spring 3-7 is charged this closing operation. At the completion of
charging, the pole is given a contact pressure by the compression spring.
When the closing spring is discharged, the limit switch 2-3 is activated to again
charge the closing spring 2-1 as shown in Fig.11.

(3) Opening operation (Fig 11∼13)

Fig. 11 shows the closing condition. Under this condition, when the tripping coil
2-8 operates, the trip hook 2-28 is disengaged from the trip hook roller 2-26
so the operating shaft is rotated clockwise by the tripping spring and the contact
press spring 3-8 .
In this way, the vacuum interrupter 4-1 opens and opening condition (Fig.12).

3-2-2 Manual operation

(1) Charging operation
Attach the manual charge handle to the manual charging shaft and turn it clock-
wise. Charging is completed at about 10 and several turns of the handle.
At this time, the charge-discharge indicator should indicate " Charging".
If, during manual charging, it turns to motor-driven operation, the operator is free
from hazards because the charging handle is equipped with a one-way clutch.

(2) Closing operation

By pressing the manual closing button, the vacuum circuit breaker is closed.
In this case, the ON/OFF indicator shows "ON"while the charge-discharge ind-
icat or shows "Discharge".

(3) Opening operation

By pressing the manual trip button, the vacuum circuit breaker is open while the
ON/OFF indicator shows "OFF".

3-3 Interlock mechanism
3-3-1 Construction
The interlock plate fitted to the switchgear stand is provided with two locking
holes. The interlock pin 5-2 fitted to the vacuum circuit breaker is set in the
holes under "Connection" or "Disconnection" condition when the vacuum circuit
breaker is fixed in place.
When the vacuum circuit breaker is closed the lever 5-3 of the interlock pin
5-2 makes contact with the pin 3-5 fitted to the lever of the operating shaft
3-1, whereby the interlock pin 5-2 is locked to prevent the vacuum circuit breaker
from being shifted.
When the vacuum circuit breaker is open, the lever 5-3 is rotating so the
interlock pin 5-2 can be pulled out by menas of the handle 5-5 , allowing
the breaker to be shifted.
When the vacuum circuit breaker is set in the mid-position between "Connect-
ion" and "Disconnection", the interlock pin 5-2 is on the interlock plate and
hence the closing hook 2-24 is locked by the link 5-4 coupled with the interlock
pin 5-2 to prevent the vacuum circuit breaker from being closed.

3-3-2 Connection/Disconnection operation of the vacuum circuit breaker

When setting the breaker in the "Connection" or "Disconnection" position, use
the following procedures.
(1) When vacuum circuit breaker is closed, open the circuit with care for the sake of
safety.
(2) The drawout handle should be inserted into in the hole in the plate 10 and set
it on the mounting stand.
(3) Pull up the handle 5-5 of the interlock mechanism.
(4) Manipulate the drawout handle.
To set the handle from "Disconnection" to Connection" position, push it in until it
comes to stop.
To set it from "Connection" to "Disconnection" position, pull it out. ···
The drawout handle be used only when inserting and removing the plug in contact
(drawout handle operating stroke is about 10mm).
(5) When the vacuum circuit breaker is set in the "Connection" or "Disconnection"
position, the interlock pin should enter the locking hole for engagement.
