SYNOPSIS

The mechanical press is used to small scale industries. In the press

manual operated. Cam and follower, bearing, male and female die are used

in our project. The cam and follower is used to convert the rotary motion

into the linear motion, the movement operate a mechanical press. The

project is saves electrical energy.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

The female die is placed on the bottom of the frame. The whole setup

is mounted on the base frame. The handle operates to cam rotated. A cam

rotary motion convert to linear motion of follower. Cam coupled to follower

and press tool, cam operating to follower is linear motion to press work

piece. Hence the pressing tool which is mounted at the bottom of the

follower moves downwards and presses the work piece.

 It reduces the production time

 Less skilled operator is sufficient

 Simple construction

 Easy maintenance

 Low cost

DEMERIT

 Operator becomes tired when the process is continuous.

 Used in small and large scale industries for pressing operation.
