UNIT 5
a. I love birthdays. In my house, on my birthday, I always open the presents first.
Some open them last, but I want my presents now. After I open my presents, I put
on some music and we dance. I could dance for hours, then someone turns off the
light and everyone starts to sing Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday to me, Happy
Birthday to me. They bring in a big cake, full of candles. Well, not, too many
candles, I blow them out, and then it’s time for eating the cake. Chocolate is my
favourite, I love birthdays.
b. Ok, here’s the plan. You turn out the lights and I’ll bring in a cake. Everyone
will sing Happy Birthday! Got it! OK! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! And
then blow out the candles! Eat cake, hand down the presents, open the presents,
turn on the music and dance, dance, dance!
148
c. Well, first we light the candles on the cake, and then the birthday boy blows
them out, then we sing Happy Birthday! After the presents, we cut the cake and
everyone gets a piece. Dance, we don’t dance. Why dance?
