CHAPTER ONE

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

INTRODUCTION

Physical activities affect the human’s ability to be functional as well as being

healthy in doing such activities that need good and stable physical health. It is crucial

because it dictates if a person needs various medical attention or needs to be informed

if he/ she has a complication. Physical Activity started and was popularized in the

1970’s wherein there was the invention of modernized equipment used in exercising

after the invention of physical fitness during centuries and millennia ago. Physical

fitness was also propagated in different ages and was developed over a period of time.

Even though the early human population had no equipment and had no proper

knowledge with diet and nutrition, they had a good natural and healthy physique and

overall healthy well-being. Physical health refers to the state of a physical body and how

effectively and efficiently it is working and functioning. Some of the important physical

health elements that can enhance mental wellbeing include a balanced diet, adequate

sleep, and avoiding bad behaviors like smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Stress,

overworking, and inactivity are all factors that can negatively impact physical health.

Studies are increasingly demonstrating that a practical approach to health, one that

considers physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being and other is essential for

mental health. These factors and elements are essential as a basis to ensure one’s

physical health and stability.

According to Nishat (2021), Physical health refers to an individual's physical and

mental well-being, as well as the proper functioning of their organism. It is a normal

state for those in good physical and mental health who are not sick. Online learning on

the other hand is the learning that is conducted in digital platforms with the use of

technology and is classified into synchronous and asynchronous classes Halupa (2016).

With the integration of online learning to physical health, changes may have occurred as

well as its effects on a student’s performance especially in blended learning. If a student

is not aware of their physical health, this may result in unwanted complications that may

worsen overtime if no action has been properly taken. According to the World Health

Organization (WHO) Physical activity is any body action requiring energy expenditure

that is produced by skeletal muscles is referred to as physical activity. Physical exercise

encompasses all forms of movement, whether it is done for fun, to go to and from

locations, or as part of one's job. Physical activity, both moderate and strenuous, is

beneficial to one's health.

Given the fact that there is an ongoing pandemic, classes are forced to resume in

the online learning set-up that may affect various changes in their overall well-being and

one factor is physical activity. Possible changes may have occurred because of such

circumstances like personal goals, new knowledge and serious medical complications

that enables one person to engage and improve their physical health. By this, the

researchers have come up with a topic about the possible experiences of students

during online learning and that Physical activity and health plays a big role in a student’s

performance during the online learning set-up. The researchers have chosen this topic

because it is up to date and can help in studies regarding physical health that may help

students. They want to know the observations of their fellow students with their physical

health whether they have encountered some changes in their physical activities on a

daily basis and overall physical well-being to help them assess themselves especially in

this time of pandemic in the online learning environment. This research can be able to

help them improve their physical health and provide reliable information regarding

physical health.

The researchers’ question is what did the Grade 12 students in immaculate Heart of

Mary College – Parañaque have experienced with their Physical activities during the

online set-up? To be able to answer the question and complete the study, the

researchers will collect data and analyze the results. This study shall contain the

answers to the researchers’ questions.

CHAPTER TWO

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

ONLINE LEARNING

Online learning, also known as e-learning, takes place over the internet,

according to (Stern, N.D). This includes email, chats, groups, video and audio

conferences, according to (Dhull, 2019). These are just a few of the platforms available

for online education. Online learning, usually referred to as blended learning, can be

synchronous, asynchronous, or a combination of the two. The researchers have created

a topic about synchronous and asynchronous classes as a result of this. In online

learning, synchronous and asynchronous classes play an important role in the online

learning set-up

Online learning is definitely not as good and effective as in-person classrooms

Loeb (2020), A study by Karl Alexander at John Hopkins University found that students

with restricted resources at home learn less than what they learn and experience at

school. Some students can cope and do as well in online classes as they can in

in-person courses, if not better, but the majority of students, on average, perform worse

in the online context, and this is especially true for students with weaker and slower

academic backgrounds. According to Sun and Chen (2016), education can become

innovative when teachers and students maintain constant communication and progress

11 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
their skills by synthesizing their ideas and knowledge through knowledge and personal

experiences. It is a way of having different perspectives and integrating multiple

inquiries. It might take the form of any functional equipment and platforms that are

accessible to both teachers and students for a better educational experience.

In a study conducted by LeShea (2013), synchronous classrooms yielded

favorable results, particularly for students who are shy or have difficulty speaking with

others. In this context, rather than in a face-to-face session, they feel more at ease

giving their opinions and observations. However, some students have technological

difficulties during synchronous classes, which have a negative impact on their entire

experience and cause them to get disengaged from the class. Online learning can offer

a number of advantages over traditional classroom learning. Thompson discovered in

2019 that asynchronous remote learning is a viable way for making learning materials

more accessible and allowing learners to track their own speed and pace from

anywhere in the world, giving them more flexibility and responsibility at the same time.

However, it is not without drawbacks. The lack of immediate input is a good example of

this. Students who have questions about the course topic must wait for the teacher to

respond, Kologani (2020).

12 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Synchronous and asynchronous classes can assist students in completing their

education online; consequently, it is relevant to a student's daily development and

experience with online learning, which can have an impact on them. Asynchronous

classes allow students to complete their courses at their own pace, providing them a

greater sense of independence and more time to focus on the lectures, resulting in a

better understanding. It also provides opportunities for students with additional tasks

(ViewSonic, 2020), allowing them to feel less burdened while completing their

coursework and other responsibilities.

Many low-income families are unable to provide academic help and aid outside

of the school context. Students who are expected by their professors and peers to have

these types of electronic resources, as well as Internet connection at home, may suffer

as a result of this. According to Halupa (2016), this can have a negative impact on their

self-esteem and put them under a lot of stress as they strive to keep up with the lessons

and tasks assigned by the teachers. Even so, some students benefit from online

education because it makes them feel protected and comforted, and they are more

inclined to interact with learning materials from a safe and comfortable environment.

Wiles (2020) also said that students are more involved and can concentrate more on

what they do, knowing that they are comfortable in their homes. Students will have a

bad opinion of any system they utilize, whether synchronous or asynchronous, if they

are overburdened with assignments. Students who overwork endure stress, anxiety,

and loss of sleep, according to a study lead by Mollie Galloway, which has an impact on

13 of 75

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
their productivity and success the next day, and may develop certain difficulties if not

properly addressed and managed.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

Physical Health is a very important part of the overall fitness of people. According

to Nishat (2021), Physical health refers to an individual's physical and mental

well-being, as well as the proper functioning of their organism. It is a normal state for

those in good physical and mental health who are not sick. It is also the ability to

perform daily tasks efficiently and live comfortably in one’s body. As stated by

Koipeshevy et.al (2019) Physical health is defined as the absence of diseases, health

and sickness conditions, and changes; a normal course and; a dynamic balance

between the body's functions and the environment. The meaning of physical health

based on these authors are everyone’s stability and efficiency of proper functioning of

physical health with no complications and existing diseases that may affect the health of

a person. It is the full function of the body to do any activities with no difficulties and with

full capacity to accomplish it. On the other hand, according to an article from Physical

education Pre-K-4 (2021) Physical fitness consists of 5 components namely;

Cardiovascular endurance, Muscular strength, Muscular endurance, Flexibility and Body

Composition.

14 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
According to an article by Nishat (2021) There are a lot of aspects that affect and

build a stable Physical health are as follows; height to weight ratio, healthy blood

pressure level, eating well balanced diet, Physical fitness and sleep. The importance of

having good weight maintenance is crucial for overall health and can help you prevent

and manage a variety of diseases and ailments. People are more likely to acquire

significant health problems if you are overweight or obese. The Body weight should be

ideal with the person’s height. BMI or body mass index can be a basis of understanding

Clifford and Curley (2019). The body mass index, or BMI, is determined using height

and weight. It isn't a body fat measurement; thus, it can't tell you how healthy you are.

However, body mass index (BMI) should be between 18.5 and 24 in order to stay

healthy. A BMI of more than 24 can lead to major health problems such hypertension

(high blood pressure), renal disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, Dominey and Woods

(2014). Free websites such as CDC and other BMI calculators are freely available for

accessing by people for self and medical evaluation.

Having a well-balanced diet can greatly affect the healthy blood pressure of a

person. A healthy diet is a way or effort in regulating the amount and type of food with

certain intentions such as maintaining and improving health, nutritional status and

preventing or helping to cure disease. Blood pressure is the power caused by the heart

that contracts like a pump, so that blood continues to flow in the blood vessels. A

person's blood pressure can be more or less than the normal value limit. The trigger

15 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
factor for changes in blood pressure is one of them about food consumption patterns,

such as consuming excess salt and proper portioning of food intakes Harianto (2020).

Incorporating foods that are rich in protein such as chicken and white meats and food

rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals like fruits and vegetables can surely

contribute to a well-balanced diet.

Physical fitness by exercise and having proper sleep are also important in

maintaining Physical health. According to Pacheco & Wright (2021), During the night,

sleep allows both the body and the brain to heal. When you wake up in the morning,

you'll feel refreshed and alert thanks to a good night's sleep. Especially for students,

proper sleep is advised to nourish the brain and recharge to be ready for the next days

of lecture and discussions. Especially in online classes discomforts such as eye strain,

headache and stress is inevitable, proper sleep can help in regaining energy. Sleep can

also help in growth and development, it allows to maintain a healthy brain and maintain

overall good health. However, if proper sleep is not observed or known as sleep

deficiency, various health complications such as; obesity, heart problems, mood swings,

cognitive performance, and memory. The amount of sleep varies from age groups,

teenagers can normally get away with eight to ten hours of sleep per night, however.

Adults between the ages of 18 and 64 require seven to nine hours of sleep per night.

Sleep plays an important role in maintaining Physical health and wellness.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Physical activity, according to Thivel et al. (2018) is any bodily movement by

the skeletal muscles that uses energy. Eufic (2015) also stated that physical activities

can be in the form of playing, working, walking, lifting grocery bags, and many more that

involve the activity of the skeletal muscles. A compilation of detailed information is used

to evaluate the body’s metabolic equivalents or METs, to assess if one activity is

considered light, moderate, or vigorous.. Light intensity activities can be in the form of

slow walking and sweeping, and recreational activities, moderate intensity activities can

be slow cycling and dancing, and lastly, vigorous intensity activities are those with the

likes of joining a triathlon, aerobics, weight lifting and doing sports. The human body is

made to engage in frequent physical activities. Major systems that make the body

function cannot develop and work well if an individual does not engage in such

activities. Physical activities help prevent and cure diseases, and are also helpful in

improving the quality of life.

According to Krug et al. (2013), physical activities are very beneficial for both

physical and mental health. It can reduce the risks of getting various diseases such as

cardiovascular disease, premature mortality, obesity, and a lot more. Engaging in these

activities regularly will not only help in improving the quality of life, but also the

development of an individual towards reaching physical fitness. WHO recommends

moderate physical activity for adults for at least 2.5 hours or 150 minutes a week. For

vigorous activities, the proposed time of doing activities is 75 minutes or 1 hour and 15

17 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
minutes. The time of doing physical activities non-stop should be at least 10 minutes.

On the other hand, physical inactivity is a very important mortality risk factor. Being

physically inactive makes the body prone to non-communicable diseases and a

weakened immune system. To avoid physical inactivity, the finite time in everyday that

could have been for exercises should be compensated by planning sports or physical

activities.

A lot of people, especially teenagers, are engaged in doing various physical

activities. As seen in school events and intramurals, students are exposed to different

types of sports and strenuous activities that are part of their leisure hours as a

recreational activity. As stated by Kamaruzaman and Ali (2018) having Physical activity,

in any form of exercise, can improve subjective well-being and life quality indirectly by

preventing disease and early death, there has recently been a surge of interest in its

direct involvement in the prevention and treatment of mental health problems. The

bodily muscles will eventually lose their strength, endurance, and capacity to perform

effectively if they are not exercised. They also stated that regular exercise can decrease

stress and anxiety and even depression. Having Physical activities for a minimum of 30

minutes a day can help in attaining physical health and overall wellness. Physical

activity is any activity that uses energy like walking, household chores and the likes. It

does not necessarily mean you have to be involved in a strenuous activity. Sports,

however, can be a way to find interest by training and improving skills. Aside from sports

18 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
there are other activities like strength training and weightlifting that can stimulate muscle

growth and improve bone mass.

Engaging in Physical Activities can help in staying healthy, energetic and

independent as time passes, Elmagd (2016). The author stated that having physical

activity can help people to release chemicals and increases the efficiency of the body.

On the other hand, a study conducted by Reiner et.al (2013), also stated that Physical

activity is thought to lower the risk of developing these diseases. Cross-sectional

research revealed that physical activity is linked to better health and that it may help to

avoid the development of these diseases. These authors stated that Physical activities

really play a vital role in improving one’s health. Students are advised to look and

evaluate at their physical stability as early as now to lessen possible complications.

They should learn to be more active and be conscious of their food intakes, especially in

the online learning setup and may encounter some difficulties in monitoring their

physical health.

Measurement of a person's level of physical activity might reveal a lot about

them. For example, it may be possible to tell whether someone gets the majority of their

physical activity during the week or on weekends, whether through leisure or

non-leisure activity, and at what level of intensity. According to Sylvia et.al (2014),

self-report questionnaires are the most prevalent way of assessing one’s physical

activities. The questionnaires measure how often, how intensely, and what kind of

physical activity they engage in.

EFFECTS OF ONLINE LEARNING IN STUDENT’S PHYSICAL HEALTH AND ACTIVITY

Schools have closed their doors and classes have shifted online as the

coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic swept across the country. Having classes switched

to online learning, students had to make a tremendous change in their daily routine that

may have an impact on their physical health. Having to sit in front of their computer all

day can result in Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), which is a vision-related problem

from prolonged use of gadgets (Moses, 2021). This is very common for students

because they do everything on their laptop or tablet, which is why it’s recommended to

use eye drops or following the 20-20-20 rule. Take a 20-second break to look at

something 20 feet away from you every 20 minutes of looking at your gadget to reduce

its effects like headaches, eyestrain, blurred vision, and dry eyes. That being said,

according to Medhi (2020), sitting all day without the proper posture can also cause

extreme pain on their backs, shoulders, and neck muscles because of slouching or

straining for long periods of time. Placing a small pillow at the lower back can reduce

back and neck pain.

While online learning may help to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it may also

encourage unhealthy behaviors such as sedentary lifestyle. According to Zheng C.,

Huang W., and Wong S. (2020), an inactive and sedentary lifestyle are linked to a

higher risk for cardiovascular disease because being inactive can cause fatty material to

build up in the arteries, which destroys and clogs them, resulting in a heart attack. Since

20 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
learning is now being done online, we lost some of the physical activities that come with

going to school in-person, including gym class, and extracurricular activities. Reddy

(2020) stated that the lack of physical activity can also cause loss of muscular mass,

making it very difficult to participate in sports or any outdoor activities in the future.

Aside from a lack of physical activity, the lack of sunlight exposure causes calcium and

vitamin D deficiency, which is crucial for our bones and can lead to osteoporosis (loss of

bone density).

Students and teachers have suffered a number of setbacks as a result of the shift

to online learning. One factor that has a big impact on our health is our diet. According

to Schmader (2020), skipping meals in order to get work done has been a recent trend

for some students during online learning. The pressure of completing schoolwork before

the deadline adds to the already difficult situation, leaving them little to no time for

eating. However, some students still make time to eat meals, but even then, their eating

habits and diet have changed. While some students struggle with undereating, others

struggle with overeating. Halupa (2016) stated excessive use of technology that comes

with online learning can lead to disordered and unhealthy eating, which can cause

weight gain or obesity, that can cause type 2 diabetes and early heart disease.

Because online learning is stressful, some students also use food as a coping

mechanism; this, combined with a lack of physical activity, results in obesity.

One of the major consequences of the transition to online learning is its impact on

student health, specifically sleep habits. In the study led by Simon Fraser University

21 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
(2021), they have found that students sleep less efficiently, less at night and more

during the day, but do not sleep more overall despite having no early classes, causing

poor academic performance at school. This is because students frequently stay up late

studying because they did things during the day, or because they have spent the entire

day studying and are now using their phones and playing games. Peters (2019) stated

that sleep deprivation has a number of negative impacts on our physical health,

including neurologic effects on the brain, such as slurred speech and uncontrolled

reflexive eye movement, as well as an increased chance of seizures. It can also growth

hormones and vital signs, contribute to weight gain, and weaken your immune system,

putting you at risk for sickness.

With the nation at halt and our populace has been quarantined, students are

staying home instead of attending school. Online learning requires screen usage, which

adds to seated time compared to when students move between classes and activities

throughout the day. This implies that students are missing out on the health benefits we

get by attending school in person. Lane (2021) suggested doing at least 150 minutes of

exercise per week to strengthen our immunity especially during this pandemic. Practice

the 20-20-20 rule to reduce strain on their eyes, and do yoga to relax your mind and be

able to move your body. Teachers can also ensure that their pupils stay active by

allowing them to take a 10-minute break and engage in an activity of their choice.

Create a forum for students to post "success stories'' about their own activities, as well

as suggestions and tactics for staying active during quarantine (Gilin, 2020). Make time

22 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
to ensure you’re in good shape so that you can fight against the negative effects of

online learning to our physical health.

IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AND ACTIVITY DURING THE PANDEMIC

The pandemic has brought the whole world to a downfall. According to (Ciotti et

al., 2020), there was an outbreak of Pneumonia in one of the provinces in China, which

is Wuhan in Hubei Province. This pneumonia turned out to be something more serious

and was found related to SARS-CoV. It was later properly named as Severe Acute

Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2. Symptoms of this virus include

fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal problems, nausea, and more. The

World Health Organization declared a global pandemic on March 12, 2020. To date, this

pandemic has cost numerous lives, economic backlash, and a huge increase in poverty.

This pandemic has made drastic changes to the environment. It has not only affected

countries in economic terms, but has also tested every country’s healthcare and

governing system. Government officials and health professionals were seeking ways on

how to approach and combat the virus to prevent its wider spread. Since then, people

were advised to use face masks, practice social distancing to lessen contact for

possible virus spread, and conduct contact tracing from one person to another.

According to Kaur et al. (2020), this pandemic has made this fast-moving world

to a standstill. Gyms, fitness centers, and other fitness related establishments were

closed. Since then, many physical and mental problems have arisen. As stated by

23 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Jakobsson et al. (2020), not being active enough can lead to greater health

consequences such as developing illnesses like cancer and diabetes type 2. Lack of

exercise can also lead to mental health problems. Bruce (2020) stated that exercising

releases endorphins which help in triggering positive emotions. This can also act as

analgesics which lessens humans’ perception of pain. By this, people will be relieved by

both stress and anxiety, and will be able to have a positive and enlightened mood. It is

also stated that exercise improves sleep and boosts self-esteem. Physical activity has

great effects for both physical and mental well-being of a person. Exercise should also

be used as a treatment target as there are much more barriers to exercise during these

times. People must work on their physique but still must be careful as it is ordered to

keep social distance. Diamond R., & Waite F. (2020)

Casciato (2020) Despite the pandemic, people, especially children, are

encouraged to exercise at home to improve their physical health and their cognitive

development. Doing activities with the family while applying a nutritious diet teaches

them how to be healthy for life. Families must keep their health well maintained as times

like these are difficult because of the highly-contagious virus. Physical activities at home

may also help build parents’ relationships with their children. Moreira (2020) stated that

people who exercise regularly have a higher quality of life than those who do not. It is

found that people who are not into exercising have an unhealthy physical and mental

health in the course of this pandemic. Many are challenged to keep their physique

healthy, especially during these trying times. It is best to participate in physical activities

24 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
even at home to strengthen and prepare your body for possible future diseases and

infections.

Lindsay (2020) stated that participating in physical activities have a lot of benefits

that will help lessen infections and diseases from entering the body. Exercise improves

and boosts one’s immune system. Maintaining and monitoring one’s physical health is a

great factor in keeping oneself healthy. As stated by Thorpe et al. (2021), doing physical

activities outdoors have both negative and positive effects. It can be negative in a way

that you are coming in contact with other people without knowing if one person is

carrying the virus. Also, body secretions like saliva when talking and sweat when

exercising may become a medium of transmission when communicating with other

people. Barriers are still put when choosing to improve one’s physical state outdoors. It

is best to wear face masks and maintain social distancing when coming in contact with

other people outdoors.

There is strong evidence that physical activity strengthens the immune system.

Having a healthy immune system is most important for adults during times like these.

Cunningham C., & O’ Sullivan R. (2020) Adults are very much more exposed to the

virus than those who are of young and old age. This group of people are usually the

ones who go out often to buy groceries, attend work, and do errands. In order to provide

additional protection, they must allot time for exercise. Polero et al. (2020) stated that

physical activities play a huge role in preventing and treating diseases such as

25 of 75

cardiovascular, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Some

exercises proposed are aerobic activities, muscular strengthening, flexibility-stretching,

meditation-relaxation, and balance exercises. Doing these activities contributes to one's

improved physical well-being.

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, the setting, the research participants

and the instruments or methods that were used to accomplish this research.

Research Design

The researchers will conduct a qualitative descriptive Methodology. A Descriptive

Research Methodology aims to describe characteristics of people, persons, community

or a certain lived experience is being studied. The researchers chose this type of

methodology because the topic is all about the experience of students.

Research Participants

The focus of the researchers’ study will be based on the experiences of Grade 12

Senior High School students batch 2021-2022 of Immaculate Heart of Mary College -

Parañaque This consists of personal experiences and perspectives about the topic of

interest. All questions asked will be based on and are emphasized on the study. The

researchers will be able to gather information by making online questionnaires for the

chosen participants.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

Research Instrument

The researchers will adapt and modify questionnaires from sport and physical

activity from survey monkey, International Physical Activity Questionnaire from Youthrex

research and evaluation exchange and Physical Activity Review and reflect

questionnaire from RM F1, aside from that the basis of these questionnaires are based

from the practical guide to measuring physical activity with the use of self-report

questionnaires, the questions are under the student’s frequency of engaging in physical

activities and the types and intensity of activity they perform. This was recommended by

the research adviser. After that, handing out Google forms will be the medium for

completing this research. Google forms are commonly used to create surveys because

they allow you to ask questions virtually and collect various types of information in a

simple and effective manner, giving researchers the advantage of safely gathering the

information they need to conduct this research while a pandemic is ongoing.

CHAPTER FOUR

PRESENTATION AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter will discuss the analysis of data that had been gathered through the

use of Google forms to the Grade 12 Senior High School students of Immaculate Heart

of Mary College-Paranaque Batch 2021-2022. The questions became the guide to

identify the findings of the said research topic. The questions and findings are all related

to the research topic. The data were gathered through handing out Google forms where

the respondents were free to express their own opinions, insights and information about

the questions that had been asked.

The data were collected, analyzed and sorted out into 4 categories:

1. The levels of intensity of Physical Activities Grade 12 students engage in during

Online Learning.

2. The types/kinds of Physical Activities Grade 12 students engage in during Online

Learning.

3. The frequency of the Grade students participation with Physical Activity during

Online Learning.

4. The desired improvements of Grade 12 students want to make with their Physical

Activities during the Online Learning.

1. The levels of intensity that students engage in during Online Learning

Students’ engagement in Vigorous intensity of physical activities.

Based on the researchers’ interpretation of the findings, most of the students do

not participate in vigorous physical activities since they require more time, energy, and

effort. They find it hard to make time and would rather focus on finishing their

assignment, doing housework, or engaging in other activities that do not require a lot of

effort and strength. The following are the statements given by the respondents that

show commonality; “Although I do think that it is important for me to exercise to

maintain my physical health, I find it hard to make time to perform physical activities.

This is because I am tired from school and have other activities and responsibilities, and

other times it is because I don't have the motivation to exercise. I also get easily tired

from doing very vigorous physical activities because I mostly have an inactive lifestyle.”,

“I do not engage such activities because I sometimes don't have the time or spare time

to do these and doing these kind of exercises needs time and effort.”,“Lack of time, I am

not really into vigorous activities, and I can easily get tired and nauseous.”,”Personally, I

do not like doing vigorous physical activities. Aside from that, due to my busy schedule I

also do not have the time to do these said activities.”,”Because I cannot find the time to

do these extra vigorous activities.”,“I do not have the time and energy to do so.”,”I do

not engage because I prefer light physical activities.”,”I don't exercise during online

learning is cause i want to focus on 1 thing at a time.”, In addition, even if they wanted

to, others can't due to health issues. The following statements supported this finding: “I

30 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
do not engage in vigorous activities because of my health condition(asthma)”,“Many

house duties/health condition.”,”My ped, doctor doesn't allow me to do vigorous

exercises.”, “I used to do vigorous physical activities before I got COVID. As of now, the

doctor says I have to rest for 2 months.” Many of them aren't used to doing it and the

fact that they can't go outside, don't have the right environment or space, and lack the

necessary equipment makes it difficult for them to participate in or even start doing it.

The following statements supports this finding: ”Not allowed to go outside and lack of

equipment.”,”I do not have the materials/equipments needed and I am not interested in

doing vigorous physical activities.”,”I have no space to do them.”,”I do not engage in

physical activities because of the environment I live in.”,”Due to I’m only inside our

house because of the pandemic.’’ These given statements are understandable, as

vigorous activities are heavier and more difficult to perform, especially if you don't know

how to do them and find them difficult to perform, or don't have the time to learn and

participate in them. Some students, on the other hand, participate in vigorous activities

because they wish to be healthy and keep their body in shape. This is also a way for

them to look after and improve their mental health because it relieves stress and allows

them to function properly. The following statements supports this finding: ”It is a way to

achieve an overall wellness because you cannot achieve wellness without cultivating

your physical aspects.”,”Engaging in vigorous physical activities helps me keep my body

in shape as well as live a healthier lifestyle.”,”to improve my physical & mental

health.”,”This helps me release my stress and pressure mentally, physically and

emotionally”. “It allows me to function at my best especially in this time of a

31 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE

pandemic.”,”I do engage (sometimes) in vigorous physical activities because it keeps

my body and mental state healthy, and personally aiming for a change.”,”To maintain my

body strength since it's been slowly getting weaker after a year of online classes.”,”I

engage so that I can keep myself healthy and active despite the pandemic.”,”To keep

my athleticism to make my day creative and to reach my goal as a basketball varsity

player.”

Students’ engagement in Moderate intensity of physical activities.

According to the researchers' findings, the majority of respondents engage in

moderate physical activities since they are less strenuous than vigorous physical

activities yet it still allows them to be active in order to stay healthy and fit. The following

are the statements given by the respondents that show commonality; “I engage in

moderate activities as it helps me relax my mind especially after a long day of doing

schoolworks. Since it is not as hard as vigorous activities and not as enjoyable than light

activities, I use it as some sort of energizer for the day”,”I participate in them because i

feel like i need to incorporate moderate activities to maintain my fitness and my

strength.”,”for I have physical activity to do in a day.”,”It keeps my blood circulation

healthy and gets my heart at least working, at least I'm doing something rather than

doing nothing at all.”,”I engage in moderate activities as a substitute in case I didn't do

vigorous physical activities.”,”i engage moderate physical activities since when the

online learning start i just do all day is that sit and face my laptop to do the activities i

need to do. So to be physically fit and healthy i do exercises.”,”To lose fat”,”I engage in

32 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
moderate physical activities, for me it is a way of stimulating the brain to keep me going

throughout the day.”,”I do it as part of my daily routine for healthy living and balance

diet.” Some said they are able to engage in moderate physical activity because they

are required to do so as part of their household responsibilities, such as lifting water

gallons to refill water dispensers or carrying and moving objects around the house. The

following statements can prove this finding: “I do engage in moderate physical activities

such as carrying 1 sack of rice and 1 gallon of water”,”Being the only male in our house,

I'm the one responsible for doing most of the carrying and moving things around the

house.”,”I engage in these activities for it also helps an individual maintain and improve

their health, and it would also serve as a helping hand with the people in your

household.” Even though it requires less energy and effort, there are still students who

cannot find the time to engage in moderate physical activities because they would

rather focus on their schoolworks and other responsibilities. The following statement

supports this findings: “I try to do some moderate physical activities to maintain my help

but I find it hard to make time because of school and other responsibilities.”,”I don’t have

much time and motivation.”,”Even with such simple exercises, I also don't have the time

to insert any activities whenever I have deadlines.”,,”it is time consuming”,”don't have

the time to do it”,”I don't have time due to loads of schoolworks and responsibilities. As

mentioned in the engagement to vigorous physical activities, some students are unable

to engage in moderate physical activities due to their health conditions. Although, some

students still try to engage in physical activities when they have the time and motivation

to do so. The following statement supports this findings: “I only do moderate physical

33 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE

activities when I feel like it.”,”Only during freetime.”,”Sometimes only since I am not that

interested in doing moderate physical activities since I cannot commit in doing these

daily.”,”I do participate sometimes because i wanted to have activities to do that i want

to make.”

Students’ engagement in light intensity of physical activities.

Based on the findings of the researchers, all of the students participate in light

physical activities, which simply requires standing up and moving around that can be

done in any place without the use of any special equipment. The majority of the

respondents say that it's because it's simple and convenient, and can be done by

everyone at any time and anywhere. The following are some of the statements that

showed a clear commonality: ”I only engage in light activities because it is not tiring and

it is very easy to do.”,”Doesn't take too much of my energy.”, Because it is a simple and

easy task to finish.”,“Simple to do rather than vigorous and moderate.” Light activities

are simple and something that everyone can do. Personally, it helps me clear my mind

as well as learn many different things.’’,”Engaging in activities that doesn't strain my

muscles that much and doesn't require for me to move out of my room is easy for me to

do during online learning.”,”I only engage in light activities because it is not tiring and it

is very easy to do.”,”Because it is easy, fun, and relaxing”,”I mostly engage in light

activities because I find it more convenient.”,”Because the activities that was mentioned

is part of my daily routine that I need to accomplish and also helps me to refresh what I

have in mind.” Engaging in light physical activity helps them in staying active, maintain

34 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
being physically and mentaly healthy, and allows them to function at their best. Others

say that it’s the only physical activity they can do with their busy schedule and

responsibilities. This finding is supported by the following statements: “Due to loads of

schoolwork and responsibilities, this is what my time can only manage.”,”Since i'm

sitting in front of a computer almost all day, light exercises helps me to stretch my

muscles and avoid stiffness.”,”I engage in light activities during this time of learning

since i'm a graduating student there are many things that i need to accomplish. And

doing this light activities help me release my stress and have time for myself like

watching movies and playing online games.”,”Because those are the only things I can

do inside my house when I have free time. But if we are doing face to face learning, I

would probably go to the gym.”,”I engage in light activities during the time of online

learning because most of my energy goes to school and dealing with my other

responsibilities.”,”These are easier to do since they are already part of my daily

routines. These also require materials I already have.’’ Furthermore some students

engage in 2 levels of physical activity, specifically moderate and light mostly because it’s

something that has been part of their everyday life whether it’s related to doing house

chores or lifting heavy objects around the house. This finding is supported by the

following statements; “I participate in moderate and light physical activity. I participate in

these levels because it helps me in my everyday routine”,”I mostly engage in light and

moderate physical activities. I participate in light physical activities for they are the ones

that I do every day, specifically since it is essential for school. On the other hand, I

participate in moderate physical activities because my family always asks for help in

35 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE

carrying loads.”,”I usually engage in light and sometimes in moderate physical activities

in order to maintain a bit of my health and because sometimes and other times it is

related to chores that I have to do at home.”, “Most of the time I participate in light and

moderate physical activities because these are what I do daily. Dancing and doing

chores are 2 of the activities I do everyday to stretch my body and release all the stress

in my body.” While others stated that it's easy and convenient to do especially with their

busy schedules and other responsibilities. The following statements proved this claim; “I

engage in moderate and light activities because these activities are easy and are

suitable for my schedule. Apart from that, I do not like taking too much of my

energy.”,”Moderate and Light physical activity. Sometimes I get easily distracted during

online class, and mostly the ones that distract me are the ones from the light level l

activities. Light levels is what I usually do because it requires less effort and uses less

energy compared to the other levels of physical activities.”,”I prefer the moderate and

light physical activities than doing vigorous activities because of the equipment and

commitment needed.”,”Moderate and Light activities, these activities are what I usually

do everyday even when I am busy and do not have time at all, I always find time to do

these.” Although, others said that these are the only activities that their bodies can

handle and that do not cause them to become overly exhausted. The following

statement supports this finding; “Light and Moderate. Because those are the only

activities that my body can handle and barely gives any body aches'',”Moderate and

Light Activities, since it is more appropriate for me.”,”Moderate and light activities,

because it's not that tiring and it's the recommendation of my doctor.” On the other

36 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
hand, other students engage in all levels of physical activities with the sole purpose of

taking care of themselves. They desired to be active in order to maintain their health

and fitness. They understand that leading a sedentary lifestyle is harmful to one's

health, thus they make it a point to participate in a variety of physical activities. The

following are the statements given by the respondents that show commonality; “I

participate in them generally to develop a healthy lifestyle and because there is a sense

of need.”,”To keep myself in good shape and in the best condition.”,”I thinks it's pretty

unhealthy to not do anything that keeps your body active every once in a while, and it's

good that we participate in these activities to make sure that our body doesn't decline to

the point where we become too weak to even do the things that we used to be able to

do in the past.”,”I have experienced doing the activities in all levels because as much as

possible I want to maintain my weight and fitness . The activities included in each level

allows me to function at my best in doing my daily tasks.”,”To maintain my strength,

endurance and lose fat.”,”In order to take care of myself better because we only have

one body and we should prioritize its overall wellness.”,”I participate in all levels of

physical activity. Since I want myself to keep moving or occupied. And I also want to

maintain my physical well-being.”,”I participate in all levels of Physical Activity as I want

to maintain a good and ideal health for myself as well as keeping myself fit, happy, and

entertained whatever situation or mood I am in.”,”I participate in all levels of physical

activity, because in this pandemic, it is tough to maintain a good and healthy body. With

these activities, I could keep myself going to the days as well as the following weeks,

37 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
when I do these activities. Not only that, it helps me to stay sane during the pandemic

as well as online learning, as well as not get too stressed.”

The students' responses on why they do not like participating in all levels of

Physical activities.

Based on the findings of the researchers, the majority of the students do not like

participating in all levels of physical activities is because of the reason that they are

preoccupied by a lot of things such as their responsibilities and duties as a student as

well as household roles that causes them to lack time dedicated for physical activities.

The statements that showed a clear picture of commonality are the following; “It is

because I find it hard to make time because of school and other responsibilities that I

have. Other times, it is because I lack the motivation to do so.” “Because there are

things that are more important for me like passing my task on time and having to spend

my time alone and resting.”,”During this online learning, I think that there are limitations

on what i can do but it is also because I'm lazy.”,”I don't participate in all levels of

physical activity because I believe that I could spend my other energy in doing other

things that I like to do rather than in all levels of physical activities”. “As much as I want

to, it is not something I mainly focus on or sometimes do not have the time. So I often

just do it moderately.” “Because there are things that are more important for me like

passing my task on time and having to spend my time alone and resting.” These

statements have clearly shown that time, energy and mood are the things that students

look upon to decide if they can do physical activities especially this time of online

learning. It may be really difficult especially if there are a lot of school requirements,

38 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
activities and projects that are due. Furthermore, another reason that shared the

commonality of ideas on why they do not like participating in all levels of physical

activities is because of the lack of equipment, materials and the setting or the place they

must perform the physical activities. They do not have the essential equipment needed

for their desired activities that is why they would just rather do other activities that

provided them entertainment rather than stressing themselves out. The following

statements proved this claim; “Because either I don't have a camera or there is no

need.” and “because of the materials required, commitment, and time” statements that

emphasized the lack of place or setting are the following; “Due to the lack of equipment,

and limited setting.” “lack of time and loads of requirements”. These statements have

shown the struggles of the students during this online learning brought by the pandemic.

They mostly disregard their interest in being physically active because they do not have

that equipment and place to do so. This is totally understandable since a lot of students

are struggling to cope up with online learning and also their personal problems inside

their circle of friends, family and loved ones. The last reason that greatly showed the

same idea was that they have pre-existing medical conditions and that they just only

prefer 1 level of physical activity to engage in because engaging in all activities may

tend to make them overworked and be more stressed rather than attaining its healthy

benefits. Statements such as: “Hard to keep up/health condition”, “My pediatrician or

my doctor doesn't allow me to do vigorous exercises.” “My lungs can only do easy or

light activities” “Same reason, I can't overwork myself.”” Because I do not like to do

other than light activities.” “Because most of the higher levels of physical activities need

39 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
more time and a consistent output should be done” These few statements have greatly

proved the third reason, this is very understandable since everyone has designated

preferences and are free to do whatever intensity they want that make them happy and

interests them the most without compromising their health and well-being.

2. The types of physical activities students participate in during Online

Learning

The Vigorous Activities that students participate in the most

While the majority of students who do not engage in vigorous physical activities

due to lack of time, motivation, equipment or health issues, there are still a lot of

students who do. The vigorous physical activities that students engage in the most are

aerobics/cardio exercises like jogging or running, strength training like lifting weights

and calisthenics, and fast cycling. They engage in different types of vigorous physical

activities for various reasons. The majority of them wanted to stay physically and

mentally healthy, thus they focused on aerobics/cardio exercises and strength training,

such as lifting weights. Some of them concentrated on strength training in order to

maintain and improve their strength while also maintaining their athleticism. Others

focused on strength training and fast cycling to improve their cycling strength.

The Moderate Activities that students participate in the most

The moderate physical activities that students engage in the most are carrying

light loads, strolling with their bicycles, and dancing. As seen in the intensities, the same

reasons goes here, most respondents engage in moderate physical activities since they

40 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
are less strenuous than vigorous physical activities while still allowing them to stay

active and healthy. Some said they are able to engage in moderate physical activity

because it is part of their household responsibilities, such as lifting water gallons to refill

water dispensers or carrying and moving objects around the house. This finding is

supported by the following statements: “I do engage in moderate physical activities such

as carrying 1 sack of rice and 1 gallon of water”,”Being the only male in our house, I'm

the one responsible for doing most of the carrying and moving things around the

house.”,”I engage in these activities for it also helps an individual maintain and improve

their health, and it would also serve as a helping hand with the people in your

household.” For some, they engage in dancing because it helps them feel energized,

stay active and release stress. The following statements proves this finding; “to energize

myself.”,”I do engage in moderate activities like dancing because out of all the physical

activities I can do, dancing helps me practice breathing without having difficulties in my

breathing,”,”because it is easy, fun, and relaxing.”,”to stabilize my physical health.”,”This

helps me release my stress and pressure mentally , physically and emotionally . It

allows me to function at my best especially in this time of pandemic” Others stated that

cycling helps them in many ways like keeping their mind and body active, and to be able

to stay productive. Although there are still few students who do not engage in moderate

physical activities because they are short on time and would rather focus on finishing

their assignments, doing housework, or engaging in other activities.

41 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
The Light Activities that students participate in the most

Since light physical activities are simple and something that everyone can do

anywhere without having to use any special equipment, all of the students participate in

light activities. Most of them do recreational activities like reading or watching movies,

doing household chores like cooking and cleaning, and accomplishing school work. As

seen in the intensities, the same reasons: it keeps them active, keeps them physically

and mentally well, and allows them to function at their best. Others claim that because

of their hectic schedules and commitments, it is the only physical exercise they can

undertake.

3. The frequency of students’ participation in physical activities during online

learning.

The researchers have gathered various information about the frequency of

students’ participation during online learning. By this, the researchers have asked 5

questions compromising if they like or do not like to participate in Physical activities and

questions that asked about how frequently they do vigorous, moderate and light

physical activities during online learning.

42 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
The frequency of Students who only participate in vigorous physical activities

Based on the researchers’ findings, most of the students participate in vigorous

activities on an average of 3 to 5 times a week. The respondents’ said that they

participate in vigorous activities because this helps them tone, condition, and improve

both their body and health. They also do this to maintain what they have already

started. Statements that possess commonality are as follows: “at least 3 times a week”,

“I do it 3 times a week”, “3 times a week. body conditioning”, “I add at least 4 sprinting

exercise on my cycling routine in a week because my main goal is to improve my

cycling skill and strength”, “I usually do 5 times a week. Because when it comes to

vigorous activities, I want to get the best results possible as these activities give me the

best benefits for my body. Since it is a vigorous activity, there will be 2 rest days, as it

can be too much for me whenever I do them for a whole week.”, and “5 days a week to

keep my endurance”. They engage very frequently to improve their cycling, strength

training, get their body toned, have their endurance maintained, and be consistent to

reach their bodily goals. Vigorous activities are very beneficial but can also be very risky

especially to those suffering with health problems. In line with this, there are numerous

respondents who do not participate or engage for about once to twice a week only

because of school activities, and time and health problems. Statements that show

commonality are as follows: “2 days a week because of my schedule”, “once or twice ,

depends on my availability and if my body can intake that much pressure or exercise.”,

“During fridays, weekends, or anyday where i dont need to do something needed.”,

“Twice a week, since weekends are the days I am free.”, and “I often do the activities

43 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
once a week because I struggle on keeping up my stamina.” These statements provide

enough information as to why they do not or sometimes engage in vigorous activities.

On the good side, the respondents are glad that the participants know their body’s limit.

Taking it step by step is one of the keys to improving one’s body slowly but surely.

The frequency of Students who only participate in moderate physical activities

Based on the researchers’ findings, most of the respondents participate in

moderate physical activities more often than in vigorous activities. On average, the

respondents engage in moderate activities about 3 to 6 times in a week. Moderate

activities consist of activities such as brisk walking, dancing, and aerobics. On the other

hand, vigorous activities consist of activities like running, cycling, and doing sports. It is

very evident that moderate activities consume less energy and body pressure than

vigorous activities. By this, the activities are more accessible to the respondents. Some

of the reasons as to why they are doing these activities are it helps them think properly,

keep their body in good condition, strengthen their health to combat the CoVid-19,

release stress and negative feelings and emotions, and out of habit. Statements that

show commonality are: “Almost everyday , it is already included in my everyday

routine.”, “everyday. It makes me think properly when I'm feeling sad or similar.”, “I do

moderate activities almost 6 or 7 days a week because I like to keep my physical health

in a good condition”, “I do moderate activities everyday. Since the only activity I do here

is brisk walking, it helps me clear my mind and enjoy everything around me.”, and'' I

often do moderate activities thrice a week. I often do this when I'm totally frustrated and

44 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
I can't focus on the things I need to do.” On the other hand, respondents who participate

less often in moderate physical activities are struggling to become more active because

of time and school activities. These are respondents who participate once or twice a

week. Statements that show commonality are: “twice a week because I also want to

give myself time to rest and do other priorities.”, “During the school year I only do them

during the weekends. I do not have much time to perform them 4 times a week as there

are moments that I prefer to be in the house instead.”, “It's either 2 days in a week,

mostly on the weekends.”, “only once a week because of my busy schedule”, and “Once

or twice a week, because I only do these activities when I have a lot of free time and

when I am finished in my schoolworks”. These respondents encounter time availability

problems which results in lesser participation in moderate physical activities weekly.

The frequency of Students who only participate in light physical activities

Based on the researchers’ findings, almost all of the respondents engage

in light physical activities everyday. Compared to both vigorous and moderate activities,

light activities consume the least energy from an individual’s body. Light activities

consist of walking at a slow pace, doing household chores, and putting away groceries.

Respondents have stated that they engage in light physical activities because it

consumes the least energy, helps them relax, is already a part of their daily routine,

helps in their academics, and helps them be productive. Statements that show

commonality are: “Everyday I do some light physical activities because they serve as

recreation without taking much of my energy especially during online learning.”,

“everyday, chill time”, “Seven days in a week because it helps me focus on my studies

45 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
also in taking care of my mental health”, “I guess everyday because it is only light

activities and i don’t have to move around that much.”, “I do it everyday, why? Its part of

my routine.”, “Always, since I mostly do my tasks, cook food, and if ever I have the time,

I watch. I do them because it helps in reducing stress and gives comfort.”, “Everyday ,

ever since I was a kid I got used to doing light activities since I’ m an active and hyper

person . Light activities allow me to direct my energy to activities where I can be

productive .”, and “I engage in them everyday. It helps me boost my mood as well as

keep me occupied for the day.” On the other hand, there are respondents who do light

physical activities on a daily basis because they feel the need to accomplish things.

Statements that show commonality are: “Everyday because I need to.”, “7 days, i feel

like i need to do it or it is a responsibility of mine.”, and “probably everyday. I do them

because people tell me to”. Despite these, there are respondents who participate less

often in light physical activities because they lack time and have schoolworks.

Statements that show commonality are: “Once a week, coz I'm busy in my school

works.”, “Whenever I have free time.”, and “During fridays, weekends, or anyday where i

dont need to do something needed.” Despite time availability problems and

schoolworks, most of the respondents engage in light physical activities almost

everyday, which can be very beneficial for the human body.

The frequency of students who participate in all levels of physical activities

Based on the researchers’ findings, some students engage in all levels of

physical activity. They do all intensities almost everyday, meaning, they can be doing

46 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
household chores, brisk walking, and training for sports in a day, every day. The

common denominator as to why they do this is to improve their body health and

capacity in the long run; and also because it became a habit in their lives. Statements

that show commonality are: “everyday/always. because of my sense of responsibility

and discipline. somehow also my hobby and a habit.”, “I do it frequently because it

became a habit to perform the said activities.”, “Everyday as a volleyball player i need to

manage my time and be fit everyday we need to maintain our body.”, “I do all of these

activities almost everyday. I want to stay as healthy as possible, and the way to do that

is to make sure that the body is working all the time. This in return gives me good

benefits for myself especially in the long run.”, and “Every day. Because it is part of my

routine in terms of personal health and care.” On the other hand, the respondents also

do it on an average of 5 to 7 days a week because it helps boost their mood and lessen

their stress. It also helps them be productive and fulfill their responsibilities. Statements

that show commonality are: “I do all of these on an average of 5 times a week because

this is how I cope with stress and helps me find joy during the pandemic”, “Everyday,

since I want to keep myself busy and productive.”, “everyday because it is required”,

“Everyday. It makes me feel better when I do so.”, and “5 times a week because it's

fun”. There are only a few respondents whose responses are contrary to what the

researchers first found out after evaluating their answers for this part of the study.

Meaning, they only participate in all the types of physical activities about 2 to 3 times a

week. Statements that support these are: “Once a week or two.”, “Three times a week.

So that I won't tire my body.”, and “During fridays, weekends, or anyday where i dont

need to do something needed.” Despite the opposite responses, most respondents

participate in different types of physical activities almost every day in a week to help

improve and boost their body and health, and to also release stress and fulfill

responsibilities.

4. The Improvements that students want to make with their Physical Activity

goals during Online Learning.

The researchers gathered the desired information by asking four questions that

asked the goals of the students in terms of their Physical Activity back in Grade 11 and

their current goals in Grade 12.

The Grade 11 Physical Activity goals of Grade 12 students.

Based on the researchers’ findings, the majority of the respondents desired and

had the goal to engage in different physical activities during Grade 11. The common

activities that they wanted to do were mainly vigorous intensity of activity, increase full

body strength by regularly exercising, improvement in their desired sports such as

volleyball and cycling as well as just maintaining to be active by walking and doing

household chores on a daily basis and just doing light activities such as stretching to

remain active despite the stress brought by online learning. The following are the

respondents’ provided information that illustrated commonality; “Jumping ropes , get

enough rest , Doing regular workouts or exercises , Jogging and Dancing . These are

my usual activities or what I basically do for my everyday routine” “Meditation, Yoga, Full

48 of 75

body workout These three are my primary physical act goals because I wanted to lose

weight and the fact that that was the time when the pandemic started therefore I thought

that was a great opportunity to take care of myself for my well-being.” “My primary

activity goals last year were to cycle 1000 kilometers and learn calisthenics. These were

my activity goals since cycling is my hobby and I want to increase my upper body

strength”. “Badminton, jogging, and swimming. This was convenient, the activities I

enjoy the most, and if I can't do some of them I can at least do 1. These statements

clearly illustrated the respondents’ desires and main goals that they wanted to do. The

main reasons they wanted to engage in these activities were mainly because they

wanted to have a good body composition, improve their skills in sports, be physically

active and fit, improve their confidence level, lose weight as well as improve their overall

health. Most of their answers fell under these specific statements; “Those were my

goals because I thought they were the minimum and most manageable goals I could do

for my own health”, another is “My primary physical activity goals back in Grade 11 was

to lose weight. Since back then, I was not really doing anything that can help me

improve my body, this is where I decided to exercise and has given me really good

results”. Majority of the respondents had the same answer with this provided statement;

“I want to achieve a strong body and lessen my consumption of preservatives and junk

food. I had this goal because I used to be the kind of person who never exercises and

eats whatever. I want to watch out for myself and improve my habits now which is why I

have these goals”. “I want to achieve a strong body and lessen my consumption of

preservatives and junk food. I had this goal because I used to be the kind of person who

49 of 75

never exercises and eats whatever. I want to watch out for myself and improve my

habits now which is why I have these goals”.These statements clearly stated the

commonality of their reasons on why they wanted to do these activities.

On the other hand, few students have responded that they did not have any

physical activity goals. The main thought of their reasons was, it was not important to

them, they wanted to focus more on their mental health rather than be physically active.

They are more engaged in using digital devices as a way to cope up with stress,

tiredness and boredom during online learning. Aside from that, they said that they did

not have the time to do so because they would rather just sleep, rest and do what they

want instead of getting tired by doing such physical activities. The statements that

showed commonality are; “I don't really have goals in Grade 11 that makes me want to

improve physically. Maybe the only goal for me during that time is to erase my boredom

that happens during online class and that makes me do some physical activities. So it's

all about mental health for me rather than physical health”, “I think I didn't have enough

physical activities goals last year because i was too distracted playing games on my

computer” and the other statement is “None because my only goal during grade 11 was

to cope and adjust to Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranaque since it is a new

environment for me. Add the fact that we are now in an online set-up”. These answers

provided the fact that few students do not really engage in physical activities because

they have other areas of work they enjoy more.

The Current Physical Activity goals of the Grade 12 students

Based on the researchers interpretation and findings from the respondents’

answers, the current goals of the Grade 12 students in terms of Physical Activity are

merely the same with their Grade 11 or past year’s goals. These statements have

shown commonality of the thought on what they wanted to do this year; “same in grade

11 plus flexibility”, “The same as Grade 11: "Keep fit, since it helps and improves my

health." “My main physical activity goal right now is to stay in shape. I am happy with the

results I got during grade 11, and I want it to stay that way this year” :Same as what I

did in Grade 11, only a little more intense I guess” . “I saw a lot of improvements in my

physical and mental health that’s why I keep on doing these activities. These statements

showed that the common answers were that they wanted to maintain their physical body

composition or physique; “To engage more in physical activities such as workouts and

to improve my physical health, because I noticed that I tend to forget about my physical

health because of online learning and the pandemic”, “My main physical activity goals

this year is to cycle 2000 kilometers and enhance my calisthenics. Because, I want to

challenge my physical strength, maintain my physical well-being, and test my limits” .

They want to get stronger and more active by doing regular exercises such as strength

training, and continue to improve in their desired sports. They also wanted to continue

their goals from Grade 11 and add some more intensity and variations. They also

continue to engage in light activities such as household chores,

51 of 75

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

light workouts such as stretching and flexibility exercises as well as improve their

healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious foods. These statements illustrated commonality;

“For Grade 12, my main goal was to increase my consumption of fruits and vegetables.

I also want to be more consistent with my exercise, making sure I incorporate it into my

everyday routine but also not forgetting to rest my body”. “To engage more in physical

activities such as workouts and to improve my physical health, because I noticed that I

tend to forget about my physical health because of online learning and the pandemic”.

These statements shows that students have their goals set to improve further with their

physical activities during this time of online learning to remain being healthy and

observe having a healthy lifestyle that is much needed in this time of the pandemic so

that they can have a better immune system to keep them away from the threat of

contracting the virus. This is also a good way as a stress coping mechanism to keep

them mentally and physically healthy during these stressful times.

Reasons on the success/ unsuccessfulness of the Physical Activities of Grade 12

students back in Grade 11

Based on the researchers’ findings, the majority of the students have answered

that they were unsuccessful in achieving their physical activity goals in Grade 11. They

shared the common answer and reason because they were not consistent enough, they

tend to get lazy and lose motivation. These statements clearly showed the commonality

of this idea; “It was unsuccessful because I became lazy”, “It wasn't successful, due to

52 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
laziness and my desire for gaming. It's also affected by the fact that I dont have my own

room and do not want to work out in the middle of my entire family”. “It was not

successful because I didn't have enough motivation to continue doing physical

activities.” “It was unsuccessful because I was not consistent enough in doing it”. and

lastly, “it was unsuccessful since i kept stopping, I didn't do it everyday on schedule and

i kept skipping”. On the other hand, another reason why it was unsuccessful was Online

school because they tend to get tired, have many school works and tasks to

accomplish, these statements showed and proved these main thoughts and ideas; “It

was not successful. I think it's because of the fact that I was not used to my environment

and the idea of online learning, so I tend to overwork myself to adjust from the new

environment.“I lost time and motivation to do them. I suppose online learning and Senior

High had a great impact on it. At that time all of this was new to me and very much

caught me off guard.” “It was not that successful because due to my tight schedule and

tiredness, I always forget to do these activities which I do daily .” “It was not that

successful because I was not used to doing activities during or at the same time of

online learning”. Another reason that the researchers found was because of the

pandemic because gyms were closed due to community quarantine guidelines. The

respondents' answers' commonality fell under these statements; “Due to the pandemic

I was not able to successfully complete my goals. Last year the regulations and

limitations were strictly reinforced. With that, outdoor activities were banned.” “The

pandemic. It was unsuccessful because all the gyms are closed and I did not establish

an exercise program for myself.” “It's a work in progress. some activities i do are

53 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
sometimes limited due to this lockdown and i am unable to do them consistently.” “Due

to the pandemic I was not able to successfully complete my goals. Last year the

regulations and limitations were strictly reinforced. With that, outdoor activities were

banned.” This shows that a lot of students were unsuccessful in fulfilling their desired

goals for their physical activity due to personal reasons and unwanted circumstances

that they needed to adjust from and compromise to be safe and maintain a

well-balanced lifestyle.

On the other hand, some students were successful in doing their physical activity

goals from grade 11 because of the common reasons that they were optimistic,

achieved their goals such as have their ideal weight by losing or gaining weight and saw

a lot of progress in terms of their body composition, they were motivated in doing so and

they had the right mindset, dedication hard work and consistency in doing it. They also

knew what they were doing because they have set a program and short term goals that

they are happy with. These statements clearly show the commonality of their reason on

why it was successful; “My hard work, mindset and being consistent. Right now I still

have a long way to go but I'm doing good and making progress”, ''What made it

successful in my opinion is how many times I did it in a week, let alone a month. I think

it was successful because I was motivated to become fit and work my body a lot, and

above all of that, I was happy doing those types of activities.” “What made it successful

in my opinion is how many times I did it in a week, let alone a month. I think it was

successful because I was motivated to become fit and work my body a lot, and above

54 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE

all of that, I was happy doing those types of activities.” “my determination. because I

know myself that I accomplished it and I also observed the results.” “It was successful. I

lost quite a little weight although our activities last year were mostly focused on yoga,

how to calm our body and mind”. This shows that students are successful because they

dedicate themselves in fulfilling their desired goals and were able to accomplish and

continue them the way they wanted it. They were able to put time and effort into this that

allowed them to attain their goals as well as its benefits that made them progress and

reach what changes, adjustments and works they wanted to do.

Lastly, based on the evaluation of the answers, the changes, steps and things

that the students will make to improve their physical activity goals was to make

improvements by stating specific agendas that they may do to improve their

activities. They have stated new time adjustments, new possible routines and schedule

as well as a planner. The statements such as; “ll keep up with my cycling schedule and

push myself in a way that I would be able to improve and make a step forward toward

my physical activity plan goals while keeping myself free from injuries.” “What I can do

to make my physical activity plans more successful, is to do more vigorous and

moderate activities. How I can do it is to lay out a schedule and plan for myself on what

time and when I will do these activities, that way I can achieve greater results.” and

“Right now, I'm trying to do at least 20 push-ups everyday in the morning. I could make

my physical activity plans more successful by convincing myself that, if I want to hone

55 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
my muscles, I should not forget to do push-ups or any exercises that makes me move

around that increases my bpm when doing so”.`''Maybe buy equipment that can

normally be seen in the gym. “I am currently saving money in order to buy things that

can be found at the gym.” “The first thing that I plan to buy is weights and maybe

expand the items that I have after I save more money”,. “Stay positive and to step-up

my exercise routine by doing it 3-4 weeks” “ll keep up with my cycling schedule and

push myself in a way that I would be able to improve and make a step forward toward

my physical activity plan goals while keeping myself free from injuries.” These answers

were very specific that they wanted to have a new way of planning their activities and

investing time, money and effort in their routine to be able to achieve greater results.

They wanted to try something new and explore and experiment on what they can do

that they will enjoy and maximize its benefits that may help them physically and make

them productive. Another commonality on what improvements the Grade 12 students

are willing to do with their physical activity plans was mainly to observe different

improvements with their work ethics, schedule and mindset. All of their answers fall

under stating that they will observe consistency, responsibility and staying motivated,

inspired and dedicated in doing it. The respondents said that they will be goal oriented,

focused and determined and be strict when it comes to time management to avoid

procrastination. The statements; “By possessing all of these for my plans I would be

able to do those successfully. Consistency is the key in order not to procrastinate those

plans over and over again. The rest are essential for me to keep going.” “In order to

make my physical activity plans more successful this year, I would need to manage my

56 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
time efficiently and allot more time in doing such physical activities. I should have a list

of the things that I will be doing per day and track the things that I can do each day. With

this method, I can easily be aware of the possible activities that I can allot per day.” “To

make my physical activity plans more successful is to be motivated and have passion in

what I want to do or the goals that I want to achieve” . T”o do it, I will have to push

myself since I’m a lazy person and I have to think that all of this hard work will pay off in

the end. By being responsible and confident. Being responsible will help me follow my

routine. Being confident makes me overcome my problems.” A remarkable statement

that mainly included and all of their answers fell under was; “I think planning, discipline,

and perseverance are the ones that I need to keep in mind in fulfilling my goals for this

year. First of all, at least think of what you're gonna be doing for your activities to make

sure that you don't lose motivation when you're about to do your activities simply

because you didn't prepare for it. Second, follow what you planned and try to focus on

your goals and not break your rules since most people usually stop taking activities

seriously once they start losing discipline. And lastly, push yourself to what your goal is

and accept that the struggles you'll be facing are part of what you planned for.” These

statements really illustrated the values that students are willing to possess and improve

in order to attain their goals and plans. They are clearly focused and trying their best to

stay right on track to be able to achieve their desired goals physically. Lastly some

students stated that they only wanted to stay on the routine that they wanted because

they find it easy and they are happy with it because they are productive by doing

it.Statements from the respondents such as; “I am simply doing the activities I have

57 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
always done, such as cycling, household chores, walking, and reading/watching. I do

not think that there will be any event that would stop me from doing them.” ”Stick to the

routine and cut down on some calories and be disciplined”. By this the researchers have

seen that students have different approaches to improve with their physical activity

plans. Students are exploring what they can do to be able to improve and this time turn

their plans into work and eventually attain their very desired goals.

CHAPTER FIVE

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summaries, conclusions, and recommendations of the

research project.

Summary

To summarize the intensity of the respondents' activities, the majority of them do

not engage in vigorous physical activities since they are more difficult and complicated

to accomplish, especially if you don't know how to do them or don't have the time to

learn how to properly do it . Because these activities take more time, energy, and effort,

respondents find it difficult to find time for them and would rather focus on finishing their

assignments, doing housework, or engaging in other activities that do not need as much

effort and strength. Moreover, even if they wanted to, others are unable to do so due to

health issues. There’s also the fact that they can't go outside, don't have the proper

environment or space, and lack the necessary equipment which hinders them to engage

or even start doing it. Some students, on the other hand, participate in vigorous

activities in order to stay healthy and maintain their physical and mental well-being.

They know that doing nothing is unhealthy and wish to stay active, which is why the

59 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
majority of respondents engage in moderate physical activity. Since they are less

strenuous than vigorous physical activities, it allows them to be active while not having

the need to put in a lot of effort and energy. Some said they are able to engage in

moderate physical activity because it's part of their routine and household

responsibilities. Although it requires less energy and effort, there are still students who

cannot find the time to engage in moderate physical activities because they would

rather focus on their schoolworks and other responsibilities. Furthermore, all

respondents participate in light physical activities because it does not divert them from

their other responsibilities and activities. It does not cause them to sweat, exhaust their

bodies, or induce shortness of breath, allowing everyone to be able to participate in it. In

addition, some students participate in 2 levels of physical activities, mostly moderate

and light, whereas some they engage in all levels of physical activity.

Moving to the types of physical activities students participate in during online

learning, the vigorous physical activities that students engage in the most are

aerobics/cardio exercises like jogging or running, strength training like lifting weights

and calisthenics, and fast cycling. While the moderate physical activities that students

engage in the most are carrying light loads, strolling with their bicycles, and dancing.

Almost all of them do recreational activities like reading or watching movies, doing

household chores like cooking and cleaning, and accomplishing school work for light

physical activities.

To summarize the respondents’ frequency when participating in the different

types of physical activities, the researchers have found that most of the respondents

60 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
participate in light physical activities to maintain their body while balancing their time

well. On the other hand, engaging in only vigorous activities has the least number of

individuals who participate in this type of activity frequently. Personal responsibilities

and time are a great barrier for the respondents to participate in vigorous activities

regularly. Given that the world is facing a global pandemic, a short but beneficial

exercise would help in improving one’s immune system; to help battle the virus from

weakening an individual. Despite the impediment brought by time, schoolworks, and

health problems, the respondents still comply with the exercise that their body needs

especially at this point in time. Activities that were mostly mentioned are brisk walking,

cycling, and jogging. Some of the respondents mentioned that they have

responsibilities. These consist of their schoolworks, household chores, and other things

that they attend to. Doing these things are also activities that can be put under the light

category. Without exerting much effort, an individual already has a form of exercise by

engaging in these.

The respondents are currently in an online set-up and are in the middle of a

pandemic. Because of this, the physical activities that they are allowed to do are limited.

But, despite this, the respondents still engage in physical activities done outdoors such

as cycling and biking, but are implying all the needed safety precautions. The

respondents were able to reflect and recall their physical activities during these times.

They were able to distinguish what type of physical activities they engage in, and how

frequently they do it in a week. This can be helpful as they may try different activities,

given that they already know what categories their current activities belong to. The

61 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
respondents may try to explore new things when it comes to different physical activities.

They can examine and observe their own bodies as to what type of physical activity it

fits and works best.

For the results under the improvements that students want to make with regards to

their physical activity, the researchers have seen the respondents that shared the

commonality of ideas under their past and current physical activity goals, and the

improvements they want to make to be able to actively participate in physical activities

despite this online learning environment. For the past physical activity goals of the

respondents, was they wanted to do a variety of activities, including increasing full body

strength through regular exercise, improving in their desired sports such as volleyball

and cycling, and simply staying active by walking and doing household chores on a

daily basis, as well as doing light activities such as stretching to stay active despite the

stress of online learning. They have specified different activities that they wanted to do

as a way of maintaining their physical health and well-being. The common reasons on

why they desired these specific activities were to improve body composition, and

improve in their desired activities for them to be able to achieve their personal physical

goals. On the other hand, some students did not have past physical activity goals for the

reason that they were not interested in it and that time would not permit them to do such

things because of important commitments such as school activities and that they prefer

online activities as a way of destressing from the stress and hardships brought by online

learning. Furthermore, the researchers have also seen the current physical activity

goals of the respondents. Based on the information from the questionnaire, the current

62 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
physical activity goals of the students are merely the same with their past goals but they

are willing to modify it by trying out new routines, incorporating new approaches such as

adding or redesigning their activity routines so that they will have room for

improvements that may help them achieve their goals. Aside from that, the researchers

have also asked questions on why their goals were successful and unsuccessful. By

this, they have found out the main thought and idea on why they have succeeded or

failed to do their desired physical activities. The majority of the students stated that they

were unsuccessful in performing their goals because of the common reason that there

was inconsistency in trying and performing and that laziness and lack of motivation

were the hindrances on why they did not succeed. In addition, the other 2 factors that

the students stated was because of the stress brought by Online learning. They tend to

spend more time accomplishing schoolworks and that they still have difficulties in

adjusting to this set-up causing them to have poor time management. The last reason

was because their equipment were limited or they did not have any at all because of this

pandemic that is going on that caused fitness establishments to be forced to close to

maintain the safety in avoiding the contraction of the virus. On the other hand, for the

students who have succeeded in their physical activity goals, they have stated the

reasons on why they do so, namely; staying consistent, being optimistic and being

committed to their routine that allowed them to achieve their goals whether it was long

term or short. They were able to succeed because they were dedicated and put a lot of

effort in doing so.

63 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Lastly, the researchers have also seen the main improvements that the students

are willing to make in order to make their physical activity plans more successful this

year . They will try to follow and maintain consistency and discipline in order to make it

possible. Aside from that, another common idea is that they are willing to try out new

routines and activities and plan them all ahead of time so that they can have a clearer

vision of what they desire to accomplish. Lastly, they are also willing to invest time and

especially money so that they can do whatever activities they want with the help of

specific equipment that may help them to stay on their routine more effectively

Conclusion

In conclusion, light physical activities are the level of intensity in which the

respondents engage the most. They stated that It is easier, more convenient, and

demands less effort, according to respondents. It does not take them away from their

other responsibilities or activities, and it fits into their busy schedule. It does not force

individuals to sweat, exhaust their bodies, or produce shortness of breath, making it

accessible to everyone. Although there are still students who participate in vigorous and

moderate exercises, they all have one goal in mind: to be healthy and fit during the

online set-up

In conclusion, based on the type and frequency of the activities that they engage

in, the respondents participate more in light activities compared to moderate, vigorous,

and all types of activities. Respondents exert less effort in this type compared to the

other types. Also, engaging in light activities regularly helps the body improve step by

64 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
step. It is a slow-paced process, but will surely have beneficial results in the future.

Although, engaging in a higher degree of activity will help an individual see the result of

his or her work faster. Nonetheless, the respondents participate in physical activities,

especially light activities, regularly in a week.

Lastly, to sum up the results based on the desired physical activity goals

improvement of the respondents, the researchers have concluded that students had

physical activity goals that they wanted to do from the past year that they wanted to

continue currently. They have stated a wide array of physical activities they want to

engage in to achieve and attain their goals and objectives physically. Although the

majority of the students were not successful in performing the activities from the past

year, results showed that the students are willing to take actions, improve, and do their

best to be successful. They have stated that they will be consistent, disciplined,

responsible and goal-oriented to be able to achieve their goals effectively.

Recommendations

Based on the summary of findings and conclusions presented, the following

recommendations are suggested:

● For the students:

1. The researchers recommend students to engage in physical activity regardless of

their busy schedules, as they may develop a sedentary lifestyle.

2. YANA AND AARON

65 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
3. The researchers recommend that the students who participate less often in

physical activities, will participate more as they read the benefits brought by

physical activities in this study.

4. The researchers recommend that the students should really apply the things they

said on how to improve to be successful and achieve their physical activity goals

more effectively.

4.1 The researchers recommend that students should try exploring and engaging

in different physical activities that best interests and suits them that can help

them to have weight to height ratio and excel in that specific activity

4.2 The researchers recommend that students should manage their time more

efficiently to give way in performing physical activities that may help them

improve their overall health and well being

● For the researchers:

1. The researchers recommend the next researchers

2. YANA AND AARON

3. The researchers recommend the next researchers to conduct a physical

assessment on respondents who only engage in light, those who only

engage in moderate, and those who only engage in vigorous, to observe

the differences in their body’s reaction while doing the same activity; to

66 of 75
IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY COLLEGE-PARAÑAQUE
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
better understand the differences when it comes to the benefits of each

and every type of physical activity.

4. The researchers recommend the next researchers to assess the physical

activity of the students by using physiological testings such as heart rate,

bpm and pulse rate

4.1 The researchers recommend the next researchers to evaluate further

the improvements that respondents are willing to make by conducting an

interview personally to maintain the validity of the responses.
