The Big Issue is a magazine for
homeless people, they buy the
magazine and then sell it of to
customers/members of public to help
them gain a profit and be able to live
comfortably. They have a slogan of ‘a
hand up not a hand out’ which they
usually have on the magazine, in this
magazine it is in the bottom left
corner in blue writing against a white
background.
They have a small circle puff in the
right hand corner which has the price
of the magazine. On the top of the
magazine there are the other stories
in the magazine, they also have the
date and who wrote the magazine on
the cover. This magazine does not
have a bar code because they sell
them from the streets and people are
buying from the vendors and not from
shops.
The Big Issue NHS edition
The main colour scheme for this magazine is
blue due to the fact that the NHS has blue
related to it. This attracts people to the
magazine as they know that blue is relating
to the NHS. They use sans-serif type face for
all there writing as they are a foundation for
people who are homeless as it signifies that
the magazine can be read by anyone and that
its inclusive. The title of this magazine is
called ‘under pressure’ because it is about
the NHS and how during Covid they were
under a huge amount of pressure. The
writing for the NHS is white so that it stands
out from the blue background, the font for
the NHS looks like it has been chipped away,
showing that the NHS are under so much
pressure. Also there are images of
doctors/nurses being squished by the NHS
logo which emphasises the under pressure
topic of this magazine.
