WHO DESIGNED THE MUSEUM AND IN WHAT YEAR WAS IT EDICAL?


The architect Nel Rodríguez in medieval Gothic style similar to the castles of the Loire in France, The building was
built around 1930.

HOW IS THE MUSEUM STRUCTURED OR COMPOSED?


Its gardens and elegant halls evoke an era dedicated to the cult of the arts. Decorated with works by Colombian
masters, European artists and valuable pieces such as furniture from the early twentieth century, Baccarat
glassware, tableware and porcelain from European manufactures, as well as numerous works by Colombian
masters in ceramics, painting, sculpture and other disciplines.

The Garden is located between the North Park and the Explora Park.

It has an event venue called the Orquideorama, an architectural place for flower exhibition. The
Garden has the condition of being a center of culture and environmental and botanical education, of
enormous floristic richness, and houses more than 1000 living species and 4500 individuals.

The first private cemetery in the city. In 1998 it
was recognized as a site museum and in 1999
declared an Asset of Cultural Interest of national
character by the Ministry of Culture, due to its
historical values.

¿WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF THE CATHEDRAL?


The history of the cathedral is divided into three stages; the first of them begins in
1868 with the creation of the Diocese of Medellín and Antioquia and the
subsequent search for a suitable building to be a cathedral temple; this period ends
in 1883. The second stage begins in 1886 when Bernardo Herrera Restrepo takes
office as the new bishop and undertakes the task of building the cathedral, and
ends in 1952 when thanks to a donation, the temple finishes acquiring its last most
characteristic elements. The third and final stage covers from the creation of the
parish to the present day.
