LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET
PARALLEL LINES, INTERSECTING LINES, AND PERPENDICULAR LINES
Background Information for Learners
Lines like parallel, intersecting and perpendicular are seen around us.
They are shown in objects like the grills of windows, the roofs of houses,
bridges, roads and many more.
To understand better these lines, always remember the following:
1. Parallel lines are lines that do not meet. They are either horizontal
or vertical. It uses Use the symbol .
2. Perpendicular lines that meet at a common point. They intersect
and form square corners. It uses the symbol .
3. Intersecting lines are lines that meet at a common point but DO
NOT form a corner or 90 degrees. The two that met are diagonal
lines. It has no symbol used.

_____ 2. These are lines that meet and they form right angles. At the point of
intersection, a square corner is formed.
a. parallel b. intersecting c. perpendicular
_____ 3. These lines also meet but they do not necessarily form right angles.
