Uses
Nitoproof 100 is designed to provide a continuous barrier
to the passage of water and water vapour and can be
below ground concrete protection, and corrosion
protection to metal surfaces.

Description
Nitoproof 100 is a low viscosity blend of selected bitumens
in solvent which dries to form a high quality tough bitumen
film.

Instructions for Use
Surface preparation
Preparation of surfaces prior to application is most
important. Surfaces must be clean and dry and all loosely
adhering particles such as rust, mill scale, mortar, cement
laitence, should be carefully removed by wire or stiff
brushing and finally soft brushing or filtered compressed
air to remove dust.
Surface imperfections, such as pinholes, should be
treated prior to application of Nitoproof 100. Contact our
local Fosroc representative for further information.
For optimum adhesion to steel, grit blasting to SA 2½ is
recommended.
Surfaces must be free from oil and grease. In the case of
cementitious surfaces, oil and grease can be removed by
the use of Fosroc Chemical Degreaser (See separate data
sheet) and in the case of steel work, oil or grease should
be removed by a suitable degreasing solvent (Fosroc
Solvent 102).

Application
Nitoproof 100 can be applied by brush, roller or spray
equipment to prepared surfaces, for a variety of purposes.
Stir thoroughly prior to use.
Apply a full coat of Nitoproof 100 and allow to dry.

Coverage rate should be approximately 5m per litre.
Apply a second coat of Nitoproof 100 at right angles to the
first coat. If a thicker film build is required the second coat
should be Nitoproof 120 (see separate data sheet).
Repair
Damaged areas of Nitoproof 100 can be readily over-
coated to restore the continuity of the membrane.
Cleaning
Tools and equipment should be cleaned with Fosroc
Solvent 102 or similar immediately after use.
Precautions
Health and safety
Some people are sensitive to resins and solvents, so
gloves and a barrier cream, Kerodex Anti-Solvent,
Rozalex Anti-paint, Debba-Wet work or similar, should be
used when handling these products. Remove
contamination from skin with soap and water or a resin-
removing cream such as Kerocleanse standard grade skin
cleanser or Rozaklens Industrial Skin Cleanser. Follow by
washing with soap and water. Do not use Solvent. The
use of goggles is recommended but should accidental eye
contamination occur, wash thoroughly with plenty of water
and seek medical treatment immediately.
Nitoproof 100 contains solvents, avoid breathing the
vapours and ensure good ventilation.
Fire
Nitoproof 100 and Fosroc Solvent 102 are flammable.
Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not use near a naked
flame and do not smoke during use.

Spillage
Replace lid when not in use. Soak up any spillage with
sand or sawdust.

Storage

Shelf life

Shelf life at least 18 months in original unopened containers.

Product should be stored in original unopened containers

away from direct sources of heat or naked flame. Storage
should be in full shade or warehoused conditions. Do not
cover with tarpaulin other than for trucking purposes.
