How to use this picture Dictionary To find the English word for something, look through the Contents list, and decide which picture page is likely to show the word you want. The objects will be found in their natural groups. For example, all animals will be found on the pages headed Animals and on the page headed On the farm, When you turn to the pictures, you will see that all the animals have numbers beside them. Look for those numbers underneath each picture. The English names for the animals will be beside them When you have found the word you are looking for, try to learn some of the other words on the same page. Then Cover all the words up and see how many you can remember. in the index beginning on page 82 you will find a list of all the English words in this dictionary in alphabetical order. These words are followed by phonetic symbols to help you learn how to pronounce them, and also by two numbers, e.g. 26/3.
