PHARMACOLOGY
Dextrose is a source of calories and fluids in patients
unable to obtain adequate oral intake.
Sodium Chloride is the principal salt involved in main-
tenance of plasma tonicity.

INDICATIONS
Used for peripheral infusion to provide calories when-
ever fluid and caloric replacement are required.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS
- Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.
- In diabetic coma.

ADVERSE REACTIONS
- Febrile response, infection at the injection site, tissue
necrosis, venous thrombosis or phlebitis at the site
of injection. These occur frequently because of the
solution or administration technique. At a large
peripheral vein and using a small bore needle.

PRECAUTIONS
- Hyperglycemia and glycosuria may be functions of
rate of administration or metabolic insufficiency. To
minimize these conditions, slow the infusion rate.
- If thrombosis occurs during administration, stop injec-
tion and correct.
- Cautiously administer at a hypernatremia patient.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
- Cautiously administer parenteral fluids, especially
those containing sodium ions, to patients receiving
corticosteroids or corticotropin.
- Vitamin B complex deficiency may occur with glu-
cose administration.
- Do not administer glucose simultaneously with blood
through the same infusion set because pseudo-
agglutination of red cells may occur.

DOSAGE
Doses are depend on the patient's need age, weight
and clinical condition.

Do not use if the solution is cloudy, changes colour,
containing visible solid particles,
also if the container is damaged and leaking.

FARMAKOLOGI
Glukosa merupakan sumber kalori dan cairan untuk
penderita yang tidak bisa mendapatkan asupan oral
yang adekuat.
Natrium Klorida merupakan garam utama untuk mem-
pertahankan tonisitas plasma.
INDIKASI
Digunakan untuk infus vena perifer sebagai sumber
kalori dimana penggantian cairan dan kalori dibu-
tuhkan.
KONTRA-INDIKASI
- Penderita sindrom malabsorpsi glukosa-galaktosa.
- Penderita koma diabetikum.
EFEK SAMPING
- Adanya respons febris, yaitu infeksi pada tempat
penyuntikan, nekrosis jaringan, trombosis vena atau
flebitis di sekitar tempat penyuntikan. Hal ini sering
terjadi karena larutan infus atau teknik pembe-
riannya. Pada vena yang besar dan menggunakan
jarum suntik yang kecil.
PERHATIAN
- Hiperglikemia dan glikosuria dapat terjadi apabila
pemberian terlalu cepat atau adanya gangguan
pada metabolisme. Untuk mengatasinya, perlambat
kecepatan infus.
- Bila terjadi trombosis selama pemberian, hentikan
dan perbaiki selang infus.
- Hati-hati penggunaan obat ini pada penderita
hipernatremia.
INTERAKSI OBAT
- Hati-hati memakai cairan parenteral, terutama yang
mengandung ion natrium terhadap penderita yang
mendapat kortikosteroid atau kortikotropin.
- Pemberian glukosa dapat menyebabkan defisiensi
vitamin B kompleks.
- Jangan memberikan glukosa bersama dengan darah
melalui alat infus yang sama karena dapat terjadi
pseudoaglutinasi sel darah merah.
DOSIS
Dosis tergantung pada kebutuhan usia, berat badan
dan keadaan klinis penderita.
HARUS DENGAN RESEP DOKTER
Jangan dipakai bila larutan keruh, berubah warna,
ada partikel asing, serta kemasan rusak dan bocor.
