IBIT No.500A
Hydrochloric Acid Cleaning Inhibitor
IBIT No.500A is a light yellow liquid especially designed to inhibit the attack
of hydrochloric acid on mild steel, stainless steel and other metals with the
exception of nonferrous metals, during acid cleaning operation.
IBIT No.500A provides effectively a stable inhibition performance at arround
30 ℃.
1.3 Component
(1) Main ingredients
Mixtures of cationic-amine derivatives which are registered in the List of
Existing Chemical Substances published, according to the provision of Item 4,
Article 2 of the Appendix to the Law Concerning the Examination and Regulation
of Manufacture etc., of Chemical Substances by the Minister of International
Trade and Industry.
(2) Others: Following substances are not used for IBIT No.500A.
① Cyanide compound, polybiphenyl chloride and phenol etc.
② Heavy metals.
③ Organic solvents.
④ Substances listed in Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law.
1.4 Toxicity
TLm (median Tolerances Limit) : ≦100 mg/l for 24 hours (killifish)
≦ 70 mg/l for 48 hours ( 〃 )
As IBIT No.500A has a lower COD and in addition it is expected that a part of
IBIT components may be removed from waste acid owing to coprecipitate with iron
hydroxide precipitation when neutralizing, the lowering COD treatment of waste
acid after cleaning completion can be conducted more easily.
2. Use Method
2.1 Recommendable Cleaning Condition
As the cleaning conditions depend largely on the components and amounts of
deposits, the sample of deposit must be checked in the laboratory prior to
cleaning in order to approximate more accurately the proper acid concentration,
cleaning time, and temperature necessary for optimum cleaning efficiency.
Typical cleaning conditions are as follows;
Concentration of acid : < 5 % HCl
Treating time : < 10 hours
Temperature : RT
IBIT No.500A is not recommended for use at temperatures above 50 ℃.
② Cast iron
IBIT No.500A dose not show better efficiency to cast iron compare with other
carbon steel at higher acid concentrations or at higher temperatures.
3. Precautions
3.1 Handling precaution
This item is not dangerous as long as it is used properly, but, for safety sake,
keep the followings.
① Put on protective goggles and it is preferable to use rubber gloves when
handling.
② In case of contact with skin and clothes, wash off with water.
③ In case of contact with eyes, immediately flush with large amount of water
thoroughly and seek medical treatment.
④ In case of ingestion by mistake, immediately seek medical treatment, such
as gastric lavage.
