ADMINISTERING THE EYE MEDICATION


Definition
 Pouring or dropping a liquid into the lower conjunctival sac of the eye.

Purpose
 To relieve eye irritations, for diagnosis and therapeutic purposes.

Equipment
 Eye medication
 Normal saline
 Gloves
 Paper tissue
 Cotton balls or gauze pledget

PROCEDURE RATIONALE
1. Check for the doctor’s order  Ensures the correct administration of
