WRITING REVIEW & FULL WRITING TEST 2

A. Part 1: Basic personal information. Form filling 3 minutes

 Remember:

 Your name: First letter of your First and Last Name are written in a
CAPITAL LETTER: John Doe, Trung Thanh Nguyen
 Months are written with a CAPITAL LETTER: June, September
 Languages are written with a CAPITAL LETTER: Vietnamese, Korean
 Hobbies and Interests should be related to the general topic of your
writing task. Example: If you are enrolling for a travel club, you wouldn’t
list hobbies and interest about playing football.

B. Part 2: Short informal texts. 20 – 30 words each. 7 minutes total

 Remember:

 These questions are simple to answer, but you should try not just only use
simple sentences.
 Use complex sentences and interesting vocabulary, but don’t go over the
word limit.

C. Part 3: Social network conversation. 30 – 40 words each. 10 minutes


total

 Remember:

 Give yourself about three minutes for each reply and keep an eye on the
time
 Reply fully to each piece of input
 Check each of your replies for errors of grammar and spelling before you
post them
 Include a nice range of vocabulary, but don’t go off topic
 Use a few conjunctions to link your ideas together (but, so, although, etc.)
 Keep your replies informal (contractions are OK), but punctuate fully and
don’t use ‘text slang’ (C U l8er, etc.)

D. Part 4: Informal and Formal Emails. 30 minutes total

 Remember:

 Informal email: write about 50 words (10 minutes)


 Formal email: write about 120 – 150 words (20 minutes)
 Complete both parts of the task for both emails (i.e. explain your feelings
and suggest alternatives)
 Use informal and formal registers appropriately
 Check each of your replies for ‘impeding errors’ (i.e. errors that make it
difficult to understand)
 Include a good range of vocabulary appropriate to the task
 Structure both emails well - include appropriate salutations, paragraphing
and a logical order of ideas
