Staff Input Session

August 4, 2020
Introduction
• Welcome!
• Introduction - Facilitator(s)
• Purpose:
Gather input as we finalize plans for the 20-21 school year. It is an
opportunity for us to engage in honest and open dialogue.

Individual Focus. Infinite Potential.

Today’s Process
We have about 50 minutes to discuss the following areas:
• Scheduling/Staffing
• Social and Emotional well being
• Instruction/Engagement
• Professional Learning
• Technology/Digital Platforms
• Childcare/Athletics and After School Activities
Our goal is to generate a maximum number of different ideas and input from
as many different people in the time allotted.

Expect that there will be “wait time” practiced by the facilitator

-may result in airwave silence

Individual Focus. Infinite Potential.

Input Framework
● Conversation/Participation
○ We would like to hear from everyone if possible - respect “airtime”.
○ Mute your mic when you are not speaking.
○ Ways to contribute: talking or Completing Google Form
○ Camera use is optional.
○ Meeting will be recorded in order to capture ideas - we will not identify anyone specifically in our
data analysis.
○ Do not use chat for side conversations with individual participants.
○ Share about your role/context before speaking (e.g., I teach...)

● There are no right or wrong answers.

○ Every person's experiences and ideas are important.
○ Speak out whether you agree or disagree.
○ We want to hear a wide range of ideas.

Individual Focus. Infinite Potential.

MDE Decision Making Goals for 20-21 SY Planning

1. Prioritizing the safety of students and staff.

2. Prioritize in-person learning, especially for younger learners and
those with most need (e.g., vulnerable populations).
3. Recognize differences in potential spread among different ages.
4. Support planning, while permitting flexibility for districts.
5. Take into account disease prevalence at a local level.

Individual Focus. Infinite Potential.

Our Values
• Keeping students and staff safe and healthy.*
• Equity and access for all students.
• Continuity of instruction.
• Ongoing, two-way information sharing with families,
staff, students, employees and community partners.
• Being flexible to meet the diverse needs of students and
staff.

Individual Focus. Infinite Potential.
