B.Materials Powerpoint ,flashcards

III Procedure Teachers Activity Pupils Activity

A. Preparatory
Activities
1. Prayer
“Close your eyes, bow your head and let us pray”.
(PRAYER)
2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class!”
“Good morning
Teacher! Good
morning
classmates! It’s
3.Checking of nice to see you
Attendance again”.
“Class president, is anyone absent today?”

“Ma’am I am
proudly reporting
that no one is
“That’s great! Thank you class pres. for that good absent today”.
news! Take your sit”

4. Setting of
Standards “Now class if teacher is already talking, what are things
that you must do?”
“Just listen and be
quiet”
“Good answer! What if you want to answer or you
have questions? What will you do?
“We raise our right
or left hand”
“That’s right! And class do not forget to sit properly
and answer in a complete sentence. Is that clear?”
“Yes teacher!”
“Okay! Class listen, quiet and sit properly”
B. Developmental
Activities

1. Drill
Solve the given equations.

1.5X4 20
2.6X5 30
3.4X6 24
4.3X7 21

2. Motivation
“Now, before we start our discussion please get a
whiteboard and marker or a paper and pen.”

“Class, listen! I want you to arrange this jumbled

letters to form meaningful words”. Prime
Composite
1.RPIEM
Factors
2.OMCPOSTIE
Factor tree
3.AFCTROS
4. FACROT REET

“Good job!”
3. Discussion
“So class those words you have formed are connected
to our lesson today. So, be ready to learn about PRIME
FACTORIZATION”.

“Do you have any idea what is Prime Factorization?” (Students will share
their knowledge or
ideas about the
lesson)
“Wonderful ideas!”
“Bear in mind class that Prime Factorization is finding
all the factors of a number that are prime.”

“Class, I have a question. What is a prime number?”

“Teacher, a prime
number is a
number that has
two factors”.

“Exactly! A prime number is a number that has two

factors like 1, 3, 5, and 7”

“Class, aside from 1, 3, 5 and 7 what are the other

prime numbers?” (Students will give
at least 2 to 3
prime numbers)

“Very Good!”

“Another question class… Is 4 a prime number? Yes or

No? (Students will
answer base on
their own
knowledge)

“Okay! The answer for that question is NO. Because 4

has more than two factors”.

“Take note class… if a number has more than two

factors it is called composite”.

“Say it again”. “COMPOSITE”

“Alright! Now class let’s move on to FACTORS”.

FACTORS are the

“What does FACTORS mean?”
numbers you
multiply together
to get another
number.
4. Enrichment “Very Good! FACTORS are numbers we multiply
Activities together to get another number for example… number
4, the factors of 4 class are 1x4 and 2x2”.

“Okay since we’re done identifying the words given,

let’s try to answer this Prime Factorization.”

1. What are the prime factor of 12?

It is the best to start working from the smallest prime

number ,which is 2 so lets check 12 divide 2 =6

Yes ,it is divided exactly by 2 .We have taken the first

step

But 6 is not a prime number, so we need to go

further . 3
Lets Try 2 again 6 divide 2 is equal to?

Yes that work also ,ad 3 is a prime number ,so we

have the answer 12=2x2x3

As you can see, every factors us a prime number.

Example 2 .What is prime factorization 147

NO
Can we divide 147 exactly by 2?

No it can’t ,the answer should be a whole number ,73

½ is not .

49
Lets try the next prime number 3
147 divide 3 =

Okay ,it work now we try factoring 49 and find that 7 is

the smallest prime number that works 49 divide 7= 7

147 =3x7x7

Let us try another method .Using FACTOR TREE .

Example 1 .what are the prime factors of 48

5. Application (Group
Activity)
YES !
So the factors are 2x2x2x2x3=48
Did you understand the lesson?

“Okay! Let’s have a group activity”.

6. Checking of group Complete the factor tree to find the prime factors of
activities each numbers
1. 30
2. 56
C. Generalization 3. 81
4. 72

Teacher will congratulate students for a job well done. “Start by dividing
the number the
first prime number
“How do you get prime factorization on a number?”
2 and continue
dividing by 2 until
you get a decimal
or reminder .Then,
divide by 3,5,7 etc,
D. Evaluation until the only
numbers left are
prime numbers.
Find the prime factors of the following numbers.
1.50
2. 20
E. Assignment 3. 45
4.60
5. 120

Factor the following numbers to their prime factors

1.34
2.160
3.150
4. 200
5.124
