Unit 1-4
Course Instructions
1. Course objectives
Below are the 4 main aims of the course:
a. To help the young learners learn and master basic vocabulary and simple structures at Starters
Level.
b. To help the student be able to communicate in English in very simple and common situations
which are suitable for their age.
c. To familiarise themselves with the spelling and sounds in English.
d. To develop the students’ confidence, enthusiasm and interest in learning English
A friendly and open atmosphere should be created in the class so that everyone is confident and
comfortable to practice English. Students must not be made to feel inferior or ashamed even when
they do not perform well enough. Teachers are expected to show encouragement, friendliness and
helpfulness at all time.
The CD-Rom at the back of the book provides a variety of excellent interactive games and activities
for each Unit which aim to help students Brief review what they have learnt. The graphics and
sound effects are really interesting and engaging so as to attract young learners’ attention and
concentration. Therefore, teachers are requested to use the CD-Rom in every lesson (as stated in
the course outline) because this would surely enhance the teaching and learning quality.
What you need to do is to copy the CD-Rom’s content to your laptop and connect your laptop with
the TV or projector in the classroom and everything is ready for use.
