METHODOLOGY

In this chapter of the thesis there will be a discussion about the description of the

project and the principles of operation of the project.

Description of the project

Diminutive Traffic Management System using Loop Detector is a traffic control

system created to manage the flow of traffic that shows different signals to be followed

by the drivers by sensing the number of vehicles and prioritizing the lane with the most

number of vehicles.

Diminutive Traffic Management System with Loop Detector has a three-light

indicator with colors green, red and orange that represents go, stop and slow down

respectively. It has four small version of post of traffic light placed to serve every lane of

the highway. DTMSLP has seven segment displays to show the count of vehicle and

logic circuits that automatically choose which traffic light will function first.

This will serve more functional than the old model of traffic light because of its

upgraded systems and functionality.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

Diminutive Traffic Management System with Loop Detector basically has 3 light

indicators in each traffic light post, inductor placed underneath the highways and seven

segments.

The inductor is used as a sensor. If the vehicle stops above the sensor, there will

be generating a magnetic induction between the inductor and the vehicle that will create a
change in voltage that will create a signal to the logic gates that will be displayed in the

seven segments. After sensing the lane where the magnetic induction is present then there

will be a signaling process to the traffic light. If all the lane has vehicles, the logic system

of the DTMSLD will choose the lane where there is the most number of vehicles.

If the lane with the most number of was operating and the vehicles was too many

that may cause long intervals of shifting turns, the system has one-minute timer to follow.

After a minute of continuous flowing of traffic on a single lane, the system will

automatically shift the turn of operation to the next most numbered lane of the highways.
