THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

I. Lý thuyết thì Hiện tại đơn.

Cách dùng thì hiện tại đơn trong Tiếng Anh:
1. Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để chỉ thói quen hằng ngày:
 They drive to the office every day. Hằng ngày họ lái xe đi làm.
 She doesn't come here very often. Cô ấy không đến đây thường xuyên.
 The news usually starts at 6.00 every evening. Bản tin thường bắt đầu vào
lúc 6 giờ.
 Do you usually have bacon and eggs for breakfast? Họ thường ăn sáng với
bánh mì và trứng phải không?
2. Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để chỉ 1 sự việc hay sự thật hiển nhiên:
 We have two children. Chúng tôi có 2 đứa con.
 Water freezes at 0° C or 32° F. Nước đóng băng ở 0° C hoặc 32° F.
 What does this expression mean? Cụm từ này có nghĩa là gì?
 The Thames flows through London. Sông Thames chảy qua London.
3. Sự việc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai theo thời gian biểu hay lịch trình:
 Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year. Năm nay giáng sinh rơi vào
ngày thứ Hai.
 The plane leaves at 5.00 tomorrow morning. Máy bay cất cánh vào lúc 5
giờ sáng ngày mai.
 Ramadan doesn't start for another 3 weeks. Ramadan sẽ không bắt đầu
trong 3 tuần tới.
 Does the class begin at 10 or 11 this week? Lớp học sẽ bắt đầu sẽ ngày 10
hay 11 tuần này vậy?
4. Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để chỉ suy nghĩ và cảm xúc tại thời điểm nói (Tuy những
suy nghĩ và cảm xúc này có thể chỉ mang tính nhất thời và không kéo dài chúng ta
vẫn dùng thì hiện tại đơn chứ không dùng hiện tại tiếp diễn.)
  They don't ever agree with us. Họ chưa bao giờ đồng ý với chúng ta.
 I think you are right. Tôi nghĩ anh đúng.
 She doesn't want you to do it. Cô ấy không muốn anh làm điều đó.
 Do you understand what I am trying to say? Anh có hiểu tôi đang muốn nói
gì không thế?
Cấu trúc thì hiện tại đơn trong Tiếng Anh:

Câu khẳng định: Câu phủ định: Câu nghi vấn:

Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại đơn

1. Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để diễn tả những sự việc mà bạn thường xuyên làm, hoặc
thói quen của bạn ở hiện tại.
     Ví dụ: I go to school every day.
2. Một số dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại đơn:
 Câu với chữ “EVERY”: Every day (mỗi ngày), every year (mỗi năm), every
month (mỗi tháng), every afternoon (mỗi buổi trưa), every morning (mỗi
buổi sáng), every evening (mỗi buổi tối)…
  Câu với chữ : Once a week (một lần 1 tuần), twice a week (2 lần một tuần),
three times a week (ba lần một tuần), four times a week (bốn lần một tuần),
five times a week (5 lần một tuần), once a month, once a year…
 Câu với những từ sau: always, usually, often, sometimes, never, rarely…
LƯU Ý: Khi chủ từ là số nhiều hoặc là I, WE, YOU,THEY, thì động từ ta giữ
nguyên.
 Ví dụ 1: I go to school every day.
 Ví dụ 2: Lan and Hoa go to school every day. (Lan và Hoa là 2 người vì vậy
là số nhiều)
Khi chủ từ là số ít hoặc là HE, SHE, IT thì ta phải thêm “S” hoặc “ES” cho động
từ. Với những động từ tận cùng là o, s, sh, ch, x, z, ta thêm “ES”, những trường
hợp còn lại thêm “S”. Ví dụ: watch → watches, live → lives.
Riêng động từ tận cùng bằng “Y” mà trước ý là một phụ âm thì ta đổi “Y” thành
“I” rồi thêm ES. Ví dụ: study → studies, carry → carries, fly → flies.

 THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE

I. Cách dùng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Tiếng Anh

Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn (The present continuous) là một thì rất quan trọng
trong tiếng Anh và được dùng thường xuyên để diễn tả các trường hợp sau:

Sự việc đang xảy ra ở thời điểm chúng ta nói:

 It's raining (Trời đang mưa)

 Who is Kate talking to on the phone? (Kate đang nói chuyện với ai qua điện
thoại vậy?)
 Look, somebody is trying to steal that man's wallet. (Nhìn kìa, có người
đang cố gắng trộm cái ví của người đàn ông đó.)
 I'm not looking. My eyes are closed tightly. (Tôi không có nhìn đâu. Mắt
của tôi đang nhắm chặt nè.)

Sự việc đúng ở thời điểm hiện tại nhưng sẽ không còn đúng về lâu dài:

 I'm looking for a new apartment. (Tôi đang tìm một căn hộ mới.)
 He's thinking about leaving his job. (Anh ấy đang nghĩ đến việc rời bỏ công
việc của mình.)
 They're considering making an appeal against the judgment. (Họ đang cân
nhắc việc kêu gọi chống lại bản án.)
 Are you getting enough sleep? (Anh ngủ có đủ giấc không?)

Sự việc diễn ra ở một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai và được lên lịch và
sắp xếp sẵn:

 I'm meeting her at 6.30. (Tôi sẽ gặp cô ấy lúc 6:30.)

 They aren't arriving until Tuesday. (Họ sẽ không đến cho đến thứ Ba.)
  We are having a special dinner at a top restaurant for all the senior
managers. (Họ sẽ có một buổi ăn tối đặc biệt cho tất cả các quản lý cấp cao
ở một nhà hàng hàng đầu.)
 Isn't he coming to the dinner? (Anh ta sẽ không đến ăn tối phải không?)

A. Lý thuyết về Thì quá khứ đơn trong tiếng Anh

I. Cách dùng thì quá khứ đơn Tiếng Anh

Thì quá khứ đơn (The simple past) được dùng thường xuyên để diễn tả:

1. Sự việc diễn ra trong một thời gian cụ thể trong quá khứ và đã kết thúc ở
hiện tại:

- She came back last Friday. (Cô ấy đã trở lại từ thứ Sáu tuần trước.)

- I saw her in the street. (Tôi đã gặp cô ấy trên đường.)

- They didn't agree to the deal. (Họ đã không đồng ý giao dịch đó.)

2. Sự việc diễn ra trong một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ và đã kết thúc ở
hiện tại:

- She lived in Tokyo for seven years. (Cô ấy đã sống ở Tokyo trong 7 năm.)

- They were in London from Monday to Thursday of last week. (Tuần vừa rồi họ ở
London từ thứ Hai đến thứ Năm.)

- When I was living in New York, I went to all the art exhibitions I could. (Lúc tôi
còn sống ở New York, tôi đã đi xem tất cả các cuộc triển lãm nghệ thuật mà tôi có
thể.)

II. Các cụm từ thường dùng với thì quá khứ đơn

Hay còn gọi là những trạng từ chỉ thời gian, dấu hiệu nhận biệt của thì QKD:
