Vanniyar quota

The Supreme Court has confirmed that the grant of 10.5% internal reservation to
Vanniyakula Kshatriya community violates the fundamental rights of equality, non-
discrimination and equal opportunity of 115 other most backward communities (MBCs)
and de-notified communities (DNCs) in Tamil Nadu.

 Vanniyars are one of the largest and most consolidated backward communities in
Tamil Nadu.
 They had raised massive protests in the mid-1980s demanding 20% reservation in
the state, and 2% in central services.

Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958   

Recently, the Union Government has partially withdrawn the Armed Forces Special
Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 from parts of three Northeast states— Assam, Nagaland
and Manipur.

 Currently, AFSPA remains in force in parts of these three states as well as in parts


of Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
AFSPA gives sweeping powers to the armed forces

search premises without warrants.

“Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance” (RAMP) scheme


$808 million

Recently, the Union Cabinet approved the “Raising and Accelerating MSME


Performance” (RAMP) scheme which would commence in FY 2022-23.

 It is in line with the recommendations made by U K Sinha Committee, KV Kamath


Committee and Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (PMEAC).
Two New Geological Heritage Sites
 Geological Survey of India (GSI) has identified two geological heritage sites in the Indian
Himalayan Region of India.

 The sites identified are Siwalik Fossil Park, Himachal Pradesh and 
 Stromatolite bearing Dolomite / Limestone of Buxa Formation of Buxa Formation,
Sikkim.
 With inclusion of these two sites, there are 34 Geological Heritage Sites in India.
Geological Survey of India?

 It was set up in 1851  attached office to the Ministry of Mines.


 It is headquartered in Kolkata.
VARUNA 2022
The 20th edition of the Indian and French Navy bilateral exercise ‘VARUNA-2022’ is being
conducted in the Arabian Sea.

 It has become a vital part of the India-France strategic bilateral relationship.


Mes Aynak Site
Mes Aynak is a site that is located 40 km southeast of Kabul, Afghanistan. It is located
in the Logar Province’s barren region.
This region contains the largest copper deposit in Afghanistan.
Also, in this region, there are remains to be found of an ancient settlement that has
400 Buddha stupas, statues, and a monastery complex of 100 acres
this site is situated on the Silk Road, a lot of Indian and Chinese products have also
been found.
Manthan- SEBI Ideathon
The Chairperson of SEBI, Madhabi Puri Buch has launched the ideathon ‘Manthan’, to
promote innovations
Manthan will be organized for a period of six-week. It is being organized by SEBI in
collaboration with NSE, BSE, CDSL, NSDL, CAMS , and LinkInTime.
FASTER (Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records)

The Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records (FASTER) software has been
launched by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana
so that court orders can be transmitted securely and swiftly via electronic mode thus
ensuring that judicial orders can be communicated quickly.

UPI: 500-crore Milestone in Volume
In March 2022, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has crossed the 500-crore mark in
terms of volume and in terms of value it was close to touching the Rs 10-lakh crore milestone .
315 banks were a part of the UPI platform.

World Autism Awareness Day


Annually, on 2nd April, World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated across the world to
spread awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
It is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the social interaction and communication
