QUESTION
A gas turbine which uses air as the working fluid, as shown in Figure 1 below, is reported to have a thermal efficiency of
35.9 percent and produces 159 MW of net power. The pressure ratio is 6.7 and the turbine inlet temperature is 1288 oC. The
mass flow rate through the turbine is 1536000 kg/h. The inlet conditions to the compressor is 20 oC and 100 kPa.

Use constant specific heats at room temperature as Cp = 1.005 kJ/(kg.K) and γ = 1.4 for air at all stream points. Determine
the isentropic efficiency of the compressor and the turbine.
