Musical theatre is a type of theater that

incorporates songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and

dancing. Words, music, movement, and technical
features of the entertainment as a whole express
the plot and emotional content of a musical -
humor, tragedy, love, and fury. Although musical
theatre is similar to other kinds of theater such as
opera and dance, it can be separated by the equal
attention given to music, conversation, movement,
and other components. Musical theatre theatrical
productions have been known as musicals since the
early twentieth century.
