I. INTRODUCTION

Wearable Antennas are essentially any antenna that specifically designed

to function while being worn. The bio-signal monitoring of elderly
people should not affect the regular habits. Hence flexible substrate in
antennas is becoming popular nowadays. These antennas transmit and
receive medical data without discomforting the elderly. These antennas
are helpful in monitoring the patient remotely by attaching them to their
clothes. They can be made into various wearable electronic devices.
Microstrip antennas are useful for on body communications. The benefits
of patch antenna include light weight, compact, flexible and easy to resist
mechanical strain without affecting the antenna performance. A wearable
antenna can be used to communicate between sensors and the human
body. Due to its small size wearable antenna is utilized in various fields
such as military, medical, healthcare and navigation. Various types of
wearable sensors are mounted on or implanted into the human body in
order to access human vital signs information such as body temperature,
blood pressure, and heartbeat. The doctor in the remote location can
easily access the patients in case of emergency. The frequency of
operation of this antenna is at 5.8GHz. At this higher frequency the
interference can be reduced using this frequency. By using textile
material like Felt we can avoid the discomfortness in patients and
supports different positions of the human body. The Defected Structures
ie., slots on the antenna can improve

the gain and bandwidth of the antenna. Microstrip patch antennas can
support microwave frequencies where traditional antennas are not
feasible to be designed. This antenna type has smaller size and hence will
provide small size end devices. They are light in weight. Various types of
