1. Introduction

When it comes to tourism, it refers to human activities or activities, which include

traveling for pleasure outside of one's normal environment. In other words, it is a process that

involves traveling to a particular place, staying or staying for a certain time, which is not normal.

It is a social phenomenon consisting of the voluntary and temporary relocation of people or

groups of people who relocate from their usual place of residence mainly for recreational,

leisure, cultural or health reasons. In these places, they carry out lucrative activities and

sometimes pay, which creates a number of interrelationships of social, economic and cultural

significance.

There are many types of tourism such as individual tourism, agriculture tourism, cultural

tourism, religious tourism, maritime tourism etc. and there are vast opportunities for all tourism

in Pakistan. There has been a lot of work around the world to promote tourism. Provision of all

modern facilities has been ensured for the convenience of tourists up to the tourist areas.

However, due to the attacks on the United States, the conditions of world tourism have changed

and tourism activities around the world have come to a standstill. The tourism industry is one of

the few major industries in the world. Pakistan was a well-known country for tourism in the

1970s. However, due to instability and terrorism in the country, the tourism industry in Pakistan

has been badly affected.

Pakistan is a mouth-watering picture of all the beauty of nature. On our land adjacent to

the sea, in Karachi in Sindh and in Baluchistan, the shores of Kandmilir, the islands, the sky

touches the second highest mountain peak in the world. Unique lakes, rivers, snow-capped

mountain ranges, deserts, clear water springs, historic forts and buildings, ancient mosques,

somewhat wide gulistan, vast forests, as if every beauty of the world is present in the heart of the

Holy Land. Pakistan's colorful regional and tribal cultures, costumes, regional dances, festivals,

delicious food, hospitable people and interesting customs are a message of peace for tourists.

2. Background

The travel industry of Pakistan isn't recently found as Pakistan turned out to be important

for UNWTO in 1956 Pakistan was likewise remembered for the popular "hippy trail" during

1960s which had the districts from Europe to Asia, however with withdrawal of progression

from Pakistan, the travel industry additionally vanished due to 1970's Islamization of Pakistan

done by Gen Zia ul-Haq the despot and later on extra damage was done to this industry by

Taliban and al-Qaeda during 9/11 when untouchables transformed into a prey of the local dread

outfits. Local the movement business furthermore halted because of unlawful terrorizing that was

responsible for the lack of more than 65000 lives in Pakistan beginning around 2001 (Ali, 2022).

These estimations decimated the image of Pakistan for future tourists making it harder to

address the Pakistan as a voyager heaven despite the abatement of attacker get-togethers and

their uprisings due to Pak Army undertakings (JANJUA, 2022). Anyway, Pakistan outflanked

the hardships and transformed into the top choice for new travelers. Different factors are

responsible for this lift, regardless, one of the huge reasons being the improvement encountering

exactly the same thing the country over as a result of the security exercises from 2013-17 in

different bits of Pakistan that have diminished mental fighting and hereafter increase area the

movement business broadly (FARHAN, 2020).

3. Market Related Perspective of Tourism

Pakistan's movement industry, at the present time evaluated at $11.5 billion, which is a

colossal destruction from $15 billion out of 2019 on account of the pandemic's development

impediments. Expecting we discard the pandemic's effect, Pakistan's movement industry region

is impacting and is set to get a further lift because of the country's as of late picked Prime

Minister Imran Khan (Fakher, 2019). World Travel and Tourism Council gauges the nation's

movement industry region to create to more than $39.8 billion which is 7.4% of GDP, in

something like 10 years. While the past government revived the movement business, Prime

Minister Imran Khan-drove government means to take it to a more elevated level by spreading

out four lodgings consistently and encourage coastlines of worldwide standards (JANJUA,

2022). The movement Industry in Pakistan has recently seen an impact as harmony and legality

has chipped away at the country over the latest five years. The country of 220 million is currently

known for its friendliness around the world. Military exercises shipped off by Pakistan military

during 2013-2017 against aggressors got out mental fighting and antagonism the nation over

particularly from northern regions known for lavish green valleys, pixie knolls, shining streams

and snow-covered mountains, making ready for recovery of the travel industry (Mahmood, 2020).

As far as guests the vacationer traffic of Pakistan rose from around 1.6 million visits in

2014 to 6.6m visits in 2018, practically 400% increment in a range of five years. Anyway there

has been a decrease in vacationer traffic since the beginning of pandemic in 2019 because of

movement limitations (Mahmood, 2020).

Besides, in correlation Pakistan was by all accounts not the only country in that frame of

mind to confront the decrease in its travel industry in the year 2020 yet every one of the nations

confronted comparable decreases in their travel industry because of movement limitations

restricted by the Covid-19 Pandemic (Malik, 2019). Generally speaking, the Asia-Pacific nations

saw 87.4 million positions lost in the movement and the travel industry area which was around

48% of the all out positions and furthermore lost $1.4 trillion in GDP (Malik, 2019).

Strict the travel industry is likewise going to assume a vital part in Pakistan's travel

industry. After the advancement of Kartarpur hallway Pakistan is supposed to procure up to

$36.5m yearly from travelers visiting the heavenly Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, the last resting

spot of Sikhism organizer Guru Nanak Dev (Post, 2021).

The PTI-drove government is resolved to foster the travel industry area of Pakistan.

Tending to the country not long after making vow, Prime Minister Imran Khan promised to use

every one of the assets to help the travel industry to reinforce the unfortunate economy. In his

previously broadcast address to the country, Khan said: "Pakistan has colossal the travel industry

potential. We will elevate the travel industry to fortify the economy (news, 2019). The Manifesto

of his party, revealed not long from now before decisions hung on July 25, 2018, states 'the

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)- drove government will advance and position Pakistan as Asia's

Best Kept Secret in the worldwide the travel industry market to help the travel industry by

building twenty vacationer resorts in its five-year residency". The Government has likewise

facilitated visa strategy for outsiders which plays had a vital influence in drawing in an enormous

number of unfamiliar travelers (news, 2019).

4. Service of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism was a service of the Government of Pakistan. Fostering the

travel industry in Pakistan was laid out. It was canceled after the eighteenth amendment to the

Constitution of Pakistan was passed. Its primary targets and capacities were to a great extent

moved to the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) (Malik, 2019).

5. Leading Body of Investment

financial backers for fast acknowledgment of their undertakings, improvement of Pakistan 's

worldwide seriousness and commitment to monetary and social advancement (JANJUA, 2022).

6. Challenges Looked by Pakistan's Tourism Industry

With a rising human asset accessible and various rich societies that are known for their

cordiality, Pakistan satisfies every one of the necessities to lay out a travel industry that is self-

supportable. In any case, sadly, the travel industry in Pakistan was never offered the due

significance and consideration by the public authority, at government as well as commonplace

levels to be exceptionally valuable (JANJUA, 2022). Different existing imminent obstacles should

be killed for the area to arrive at its maximum capacity of the complex yet remunerating

industry. Following are the fundamental difficulties in such manner:

7. Terrible Framework

As of now one of the main issues of Pakistan's travel industry is harmed or no

admittance to streets, immature neighborliness area and courses, and absence of fundamental

offices for the traveler. The fundamental components to help the travel industry is quality

foundation, flights, administrations, eateries, and neighborhood local escorts and organizations

(JANJUA, 2022). For Pakistan's situation, the foundation was less evolved because of absence of

government bodies and strategies pushing to change the picture of the area. Nonetheless, the

ongoing government has reported impending undertakings and offices including different

traveler places, access streets, stopping, and boarding and housing administrations, to help the

area.

8. Immature Accommodation Area

Because of immature foundation, absence of legislative approaches and issues relating

to security, the accommodation area stays immature according to global principles. As of now, a

portion of the inns and eateries practical in the nation don't execute sufficient affirmation

principles that offer quality administrations (Ali, 2022). The executions regulations guarantee

cutting edge administrations essential to keep up with the norms of the friendliness area that

thusly mirrors the change of the travel industry (JANJUA, 2022).

9. Foster Current Framework

To additional upgrade the travel industry in the country, the public authority ought to

likewise zero in on working on existing framework according to global principles, including not

street availability, air terminals, transport framework, and so forth (FARHAN, 2020). The world

has seen the flood of data innovation (IT), set off by the flare-up of COVID-'Digital change' has

what kept the world associated, making web ease of use and internet business infiltration

increment (Fakhar, 2019). Utilizing this, the accommodation area and different administrations

can use IT to feature the business through their sites on the web, through thorough web-based

bundles, data in regard to the inn, visitor rooms, administrations, transportation and local

escorts, if any (Fakhar, 2019).

10. Tourism Industry After Civid-19 Era

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 6

The tourism industry, like other sectors of the economy, is feeling the strain. According

to sources, Pakistan's hotel industry suffered a loss of more than Rs. 100 million in February.

Between January and March 20, hotel bookings decreased from 95% to 40%. Due to the fixed

structure of the majority of travel and hospitality spend, the industry projects considerable

losses in 2020 and 2021. International travel has also been significantly hampered, with all

airline temporarily pausing operations. Flights to Pakistan have been halted, and PIA is running

on a reduced schedule. Pakistan's tourism sector is comprised of both huge enterprises and

small and medium-sized companies that rely on the tourism season for revenue. Due to the

COVID-19 laws, many tour guides, porters, tour operators, and salaried workers have seen a

major loss in revenue. Employers have been compelled to place staff on lengthy and, in the

majority of cases, unpaid leave in order to contain the pandemic. This has had a detrimental

effect on the viability of tiny cafes, street vendors, and creative companies located around the

country.

11. The Federal Ministry of Tourism and its Operating Divisions

11.1. Department of Tourism Services (DTS)

Established in 1976 as a result of the passage of three acts, the DTS is responsible for

ensuring the standard and quality of services supplied by hoteliers, tour operators, and travel

agencies. Following the 18th amendment to the Pakistani constitution, DTS regional offices in

all four provinces were transferred to provincial tourism ministries and no longer have any

formal relationship with the federal DTS office. This circumstance has exacerbated the

deterioration of DTS's performance. As a result, there is no standardization or quality control of

the tourism product, and the private sector's travel agencies, tour operators, and hotels are

unhappy and resistive to meaningful collaboration with public sector tourist organizations in

the private sector and the government. The business community sees PTDC's involvement in

activities such as tours and hotel operations as active competition with the government's private

sector. On the other hand, its government funding is insufficient to enable it to function.

Following the transfer of the Federal Ministry of Tourism in 2010 as a result of the 18th

Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan, funding to PTDC from the Federal Government has

12. Provincial Tourism Administrations

12.1. Punjab Tourism Development Corporation (TDCP)

Tourism is the second most developed and foreign exchange earning industry in the

world after information technology and oil. The economies of many countries depend on this

industry. Nature has endowed Pakistan with all its tourism and natural beauty. With this in mind,

Punjab in 1986 set up a Department of Tourism Corporation of Punjab for the promotion of

tourism. The department's job is to promote regional and local tourism in the province. Punjab is

the largest province of Pakistan in terms of population and its history and culture are thousands

of years old. There are many beautiful tourist and historical places in Punjab. To highlight them

in the eyes of tourists, the department has set up many resorts, stops, package tours, promotional

materials and tourist information centers in different cities. In addition, the Institute of Tourism

and Hotel Management was established in 1996 to cater to the workforce of the hospitality

industry working way.

The Department of Forestry, Wildlife, Fisheries, and Tourism is responsible for the

province of Punjab's tourism policy and formulation. Its aims were as are; To promote and

develop tourism in the province of Punjab. To lay the groundwork for tourism infrastructure. To

promote and advertise the province's history, culture, archaeological sites, and other tourism

attractions. To provide high-quality tourist transportation services. To collaborate with the

commercial sector in order to develop tourist infrastructure and services.

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 14

12.1.1. Explore Punjab

TDCP, headquartered in Lahore, has set up a regional network of offices in Bahawalpur,

Multan, Rawalpindi and Murree. The TDCP has built numerous tourist destinations over the last

three decades, including Patriate, Kler Kahar, Fort Monroe, Changa Manga, and Lalsohanra

National Park near Murree, as well as GT Route and roadside restaurants on the way to Murree. ‫۔‬

TDCP also introduced an air-conditioned tourist bus service in several cities of Punjab during the

early years, besides providing tourist tourism service in Lahore. Later in its history, TDCP

expanded the education of hospitality and tourist management by founding the Institute of

Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) in Lahore.

Although ITHM offers diploma and certificate programs in hotel and tourism

administration, the general quality of teaching is quite low, given the university's growing

national and international recognition as a training institution. Initially, the TDCP had the full

support of the provincial government, but due to lack of financial resources, lack of interest at

the highest levels of the provincial government, and lack of professionalism in its staff, the

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 15

TDCP gradually lost its importance. ‫ ۔‬Like PTDC, TDCP became involved in business activities

such as transportation, tour operations, and the management of its motels, which the private

sector enabled to compete actively with the private sector on behalf of the government.

13. Operational Wings of Punjab

13.1. Corporation for Road Transport in Punjab (PRTC)

The Punjab Urban Transport Corporation (a separate organization) was established in

February 1977 under the administrative control of the Federal Government to operate bus

services in Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad (twin cities). The corporation was registered as a

private limited company. In 1985, the Punjab government dissolved the Punjab Road Transport

Board with all its assets and liabilities through a notification. Its employees were transferred to

Punjab Urban Transport Corporation. Punjab Urban Transport Corporation was renamed as

Punjab Road Transport Corporation. In the year 1997, the Punjab Government decided to close

Punjab Road Transport Corporation from 30.06.1997 due to maintaining irregularities and huge

losses in PRTC. The Punjab Government has offered Golden Handshake Scheme package to the

employees of Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC).

13.2. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation TCKP and Sindh Tourism
Development Corporation (STDC)

Following Punjab's lead, the governments of Sindh and KP (former NWFP) eventually

established provincial tourism development organizations and began work on various tourism

initiatives in their respective regions. As is the case with all government tourism organizations in

Pakistan, the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) and the Tourism Corporation

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) are handicapped by a lack of financial resources and

professionalism, and thus are unable to fully fulfil the purpose for which they were established.

STDC - Department of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives (Government of Sindh), The

department's functions are summarized as are, Heritage Promotion, contributing to Literary

Activities, Preserve or Conserve, Heritage Preservation and Intellectuals' Welfare.

14. Construction Business at Tourist Spots

Quality of natural and man-made environment is essential for tourism in Pakistan.

However, the relationship of tourism with the environment is complex. This includes many

activities that can have environmental effects. Many of these effects are linked to the

construction of general infrastructure such as roads and airports and tourism facilities including

resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, golf courses and marinas. The negative effects of tourism

development can gradually destroy the ecological resources on which it depends.

Tourism, on the other hand, has the potential to have a beneficial effect on the

environment by contributing to environmental protection and conservation. It is a way to raise

awareness of environmental values and can serve as a tool for financing the conservation of

natural areas and increasing their economic importance. In this article, we describe the effects of

tourism on natural resources, environmental pollution and the physical environment. In addition,

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 18

we explain the global environmental impact of tourism, the industrial impact on tourism, and

finally, how tourism can contribute to environmental protection.

14.1. Impact of Construction on Natural Resources

14.1.1. Water Resources

Water, and especially fresh water, is one of the most important natural resources. The

tourism industry generally makes more use of water resources for personal use by hotels,

swimming pools, golf courses and tourists. This can lead to water shortages and water shortages,

as well as excessive wastewater production.

14.1.2. Local Resources

Tourism can put a lot of pressure on local resources such as energy, food and other raw

materials that are already under-supplied. The maximum emission and transport of these

resources increases the physical effects associated with their exploitation. Due to the seasonal

role of the industry, many destinations have ten times more inhabitants in the high season than in

the low season. Tourists are often in high demand for these resources to meet the high

expectations of proper heating systems, hot water, etc.

14.1.3. Land Degradation

Major land resources include minerals, fossil fuels, fertile soil, forests, wetlands and

wildlife. The increasing construction of tourism and recreational facilities has increased the

pressure on these resources and landscapes. The use of land and the use of building materials for

the provision of housing and other infrastructure may have a direct impact on the provision of

tourism facilities to both natural resources, renewable and non-renewable.

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 19

14.1.4. Pollution

Tourism can cause the same form of pollution as any other industry: emissions, noise,

solid waste and garbage, sewage, oil and chemicals emissions, even construction / visual

pollution.

14.1.5. Air Pollution and Noise

Emissions and emissions from energy production and use are related to acid rain, global

warming and photochemical pollution. Air pollution from tourist transport has a global impact,

especially on carbon dioxide (CO) emissions related to the use of transport energy. And it can

contribute to severe local air pollution. Some of these effects are quite specific to tourist

activities. For example, especially in hot or cold countries, tour buses often leave their motors

running for hours while tourists go for a walk because they want to get back on the air-

conditioned bus in comfort.

14.1.6. Solid Waste and Garbage

In areas with high tourist activity and natural attractions, waste disposal is a serious

problem and improper disposal can cause significant damage to the natural environment, rivers,

natural sites and roadsides. In the Caribbean, for example, cruise ships generate more than

70,000 tons of waste each year. Solid waste and garbage can degrade the physical appearance of

water and cause the death of beaches and marine animals.

14.1.7. Physical Effects of Tourism Development

Construction Activities and Infrastructure Development: The development of tourism

amenities such as accommodation, water supply, restaurants and leisure facilities may include

sand mining, beach and sand erosion, soil erosion and extensive paving. In addition, the

construction of roads and airports can lead to land degradation and loss of wildlife habitat and

deterioration of landscapes. Deforestation and rapid or unsustainable use of land: Ski resort

accommodation and facilities often require clearing of forest land. Coastal wetlands are often

drained and flooded due to a lack of tourist facilities and more suitable places to build

infrastructure. These activities can cause severe disruption and erosion of the local ecosystem,

even in the long run.

14.2. Natural Disaster effects on Murree Tourism Site due to Construction

After the incident in Murree, the trend of 'boycott Murree' was seen on social media.

Murree is an old and ancient tourist destination where people from all over the country visit in

summer and winter for leisure. So it is important to know what are the views of the people living

in such a tourist destination and what are the problems that Murree is facing? According to local

Murree residents, neglected roads, illegal constructions, lack of parking and hotel mafia are some

of the major issues that need to be addressed. But another problem is the inattention of the

authorities.

Waheed Abbasi, a resident of Murree, told the BBC that there was a lack of facilities on

the roads of Murree. "There is no safety. There is no safety for those who come from Link Road,

but having a facility like parking is the most important thing." According to another local, Osama

Abbasi, there has been no work on the Murree roads for three years. He said that apart from

improving the condition of roads in Murree at present, illegal constructions should also be

banned which was tarnishing the image of Murree. Muhammad Faisal, a resident of Murree, says

there is no regulation on hotels in Murree. "Agent mafia is strong. The hotelier knows that this

tourist has come with the agent, so the room he has to get for five thousand is the same for

twenty thousand because the hotel owners also have to pay the agent." ' According to

Muhammad Faisal regarding pricing, the local administration has to be active so that it does not

fall asleep, it should know everything.

15. Transportation Sector at Tourism Spot

Transportation business is one of the most important elements of tourism. It is considered

an important and fundamental impetus for the development and promotion of the tourism

industry as it enables the movement of tourists from their place of origin to the desired

destination and backwards. It facilitates the movement of business travelers, vacationers and

those intending to visit their friends and relatives.

15.1.1. Types of Transportation

There are different modes of transportation, such as air transport, automobile transport,

rail transport and sea transport. People have been traveling in different ways, from walking to

getting on a plane. Global tourism has multiplied, as has the demand for transportation.

Pakistan's transportation system consists largely of air transport, ports and shipping services,

railways and roads. Roads are an important part of any developing country's infrastructure. The

link between tourism and the proper road network is a catalyst for the survival of the tourism

industry as it connects different tourist destinations.

15.2. Transportation Structure of Pakistan

Pakistan has been blessed with innumerable resources. Its tourism potential, if used

properly, could revive the country's economy as tourism has become one of the fastest growing

industries in the world. All the provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir offer diverse

heritage, culture and beautiful landscapes and many attractions for tourists. Similarly, the

province of Baluchistan is not only strategically important because of its abundant mineral

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 22

resources but also because of its strategic location at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz and the

borders of Iran and Afghanistan but also because of its immense potential for tourism.

Baluchistan has great potential for tourism due to its many important places. It includes

1100 km of beautiful coastline, historic castles, flora and fauna, ancient juniper forests, beautiful

mountains, deserts, earthen volcanoes, traditional and delicious food, welcoming people and

9000-year-old Mehrgarh. There are famous heritage sites. If proper facilities and infrastructure

are provided, these and other potential destinations can become a major attraction for domestic

and international tourists. Poor road infrastructure has not only badly affected the local economy

and social fabric but also the tourism sector of the province. Most tourist destinations do not

have adequate access and the required infrastructure. Similarly, transportation has been largely

neglected. Local and national transportation infrastructure serves both residents as well as

tourists.

15.3. Impact of Inadequate Facilities and Bad Roads on Tourism

In Pakistan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr this year, the people of Pakistan celebrated a

week-long holiday. The holidays, which began on Tuesday, ended on Sunday, and in those six

days, as every year, millions of people flocked to the resort. While there was a large number of

people whose destination was the recreational places in their city, there was also a large number

of people who took the long vacation as spoils and turned to the splendid places. Large numbers

of people turning to confined spaces resulted in traffic jams and a reduction in accommodation,

and as every year a large number of people spent the night in their cars. But the lucky ones who

got the house were also at the price of gold.

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 23

While the popular tourist destinations on the occasion of Eid included Murree and Galyat

areas in the mountainous region of Punjab, a large number of people also visited the hilly areas

of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The result was the Murree Expressway, the Swat Motorway opening

just before Eid, the Pakistan-administered Kashmir region, or the Karakoram Highway. went. A

large number of them had to find a place to stay overnight during this journey. Lack of

accommodation in proportion to the number of tourists visiting these resorts in Pakistan has

resulted in exorbitant fares which could not be paid by the middle class.

As global tourism grows, the increase in traffic has put tremendous pressure on

transportation. During peak hours, heavy congestion on roads and airports affects most

passengers, resulting in a waste of time and energy. Ensuring safety and security is considered as

another concern and basic need for tourism. In addition, there has always been a serious concern

that increased traffic could harm the environment. This means that transportation costs must take

into account the costs of social, economic, cultural and natural resources when designing and

expanding such facilities. All such issues are big challenges that negatively affect the perceptions

of tourists and create a negative image of the tourist destination.

16. Future of Tourism Industry Boost in Pakistan

16.1. Global Facts on Tourism

The most foreign exchange earning countries in the world in terms of tourism are Spain,

France, USA, Italy, China, Mexico, Germany, Turkey and UK. If this list were to be extended a

little further, it would also include Morocco and the Maldives, which are small countries, but

their national income depends solely on tourism. The Maldives has a total population of 4.5

million but earns 22% of its economy from tourism. Thus, even in our neighboring India, more

than one crore blacks come annually.

16.2. Tourism Facts about Pakistan

In terms of tourism, if the ten best countries of the world are compared with Pakistan,

then the total revenue generated from tourism of these countries and the tourism revenue of

Pakistan is no match. Our country is second to none in terms of tourist destinations and seasons

but the countries behind us in every aspect of tourism are earning a lot from the development of

this sector.

16.3. Report of the World Tourism and Travel Council

The World Tourism and Travel Council had pointed out in 2018 that Pakistan could earn

39 39.8 billion in a decade from the development of tourism industry. The present government

also wants tourism in Pakistan's economy to reach one trillion rupees by 2025. Most tourists in

Pakistan come from UK, second from USA, third from China, then Thailand and Japan.

16.4. Types of Tourism in Pakistan

Tourism in Pakistan can be arranged in different categories. This will make it easier to

understand what changes are needed. The first type is those who live abroad but belong to

Pakistan and return to the country to visit their families. Most of them come to Pakistan during

summer and winter vacations and travel with their families to different parts of the country,

including the northern areas.

The second type is religious tourism. Pakistan has historical Hindu temples, Sikh

religious sites, Taxila and Buddhist sites in Gadara, archeological sites, and much more for those

interested in Sufism. The third category includes foreigners who flock to Pakistan to see the

beautiful scenery, historical sites and cultural heritage. They usually head to Shangri-La, Hunza

Valley, Swat, Kagan, Narran and Galyat.

Pakistan's success in the war against the positive aspects and negative aspects of Pakistan should

be highlighted.

16.10. Establishment of Training Centers

There should be formal education in hospitality and tourism across the country, ie

training centers where people can be given complete training in dealing with tourists.

16.11. Reduction in Prices

There is also a need to regulate the prices of groceries and groceries at tourist

destinations. It is common for people to complain about the high cost and availability of local

tourist attractions. Attention should also be paid to tourism infrastructure, i.e. the construction of

glass bridges, artificial lakes, mega nature parks and excellent museums in the northern areas.

16.12. Public-Private Partnership

The government and the private sector can work together to develop the tourism industry.

A system should be created where the government should play the role of bringing foreign

tourists to Pakistan and the private sector should take care of and take care of the guests who

come to their country. In this regard, the government should give incentives to the private sector

so that more and more investors can become instruments for the development of this industry.

16.13. Focus on Local Construction and Development

Finally, it is important that the districts directly benefit from the tourism revenue.

Indigenous peoples can directly benefit from tourism revenue, which will further brighten their

path to a brighter future. There should be plans for them to increase their revenue and

employment opportunities by attracting tourists. In this way, Pakistan's tourism industry will

develop and Pakistan's economy will flourish.

17. Conclusion and Recommendations

The tourism industry is one of the few major industries in the world. Pakistan was a well-

known country for tourism in the 1970s. However, due to instability and terrorism in the country,

the tourism industry in Pakistan has been badly affected. Pakistan is a mouth-watering picture of

all the beauty of nature. On our land adjacent to the sea, in Karachi in Sindh and in Baluchistan,

the shores of Kandmilir, the islands, the sky touches the second highest mountain peak in the

world. Unique lakes, rivers, snow-capped mountain ranges, deserts, crystal clear water springs,

historic forts and buildings, ancient mosques, splendid flower gardens, vast forests, as if every

beauty of the world is present in the heart of the Holy Land. Pakistan's colorful regional and

tribal cultures, costumes, regional dances, festivals, delicious food, hospitable people and

interesting customs are a message of peace for tourists.

Take the capital of the country, where Margalla Hills, Shaker Padiyan, National Art

Gallery, Daman Kho, Rawal Lake, Faisal Masjid etc. are the best tourist destinations. Thousands

of years old. Visitors will always remember the residency of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali

Jinnah and the ancient forests of Joni Pir. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has great tourist and cultural

heritage. Traces of Gadara civilization, beauty of Swat and northern areas of Pakistan enchants

the viewers. It's a big center. Tourist places of interest in Punjab include Shalimar Bagh, Taxila

Archeology, Badshahi Mosque, Jahangir Mausoleum, Mazar-e-Iqbal, Minar-e-Pakistan, Sikh

holy place Guruvar Ajnam Isthan Nankana Sahib, Queen Kohsar Murree, Cholistan Desert and

Thal. Included. The region of Sindh is the cradle of thousands of years old civilization of Indus

Valley.

At the national level, new records of tourism are being set in Pakistan every year, now it

is hoped that Pakistan will be known in the world for its true beauty, the current government is

OVERVIEW OF TOURISM SECTOR IN PAKISTAN 28

looking forward to the promotion of tourism and recently Visa on Arrival to 50 Countries of the

World and Announcement of E-Visa Facility to 175 Countries is a link in the same chain after

which the citizens of these countries will now be able to reach Pakistan at the airport without

applying to the Pakistani Embassy in their country. Therefore, there is a need to introduce

national tourist destinations through all Pakistani embassies and consultants abroad so that a

large number of foreign tourists can visit Pakistan. On the one hand, this will increase the

national income, on the other hand, our country will be famous for its natural beauty, historical

significance, cultural and tourist attractions.

Tourism will make Pakistan a good name in the world. Our connections with the world

will get better and better and local people will have better jobs. Investment will increase, our

economy will improve. The spring season is yet to begin but the autumn season is yet to pass.

Our print media keeps scattering the colors of its culture on its pages. It is very important that

our electronic media also make the promotion of culture one of its priorities. Punjabi TV should

also be started. We think that Punjab is still delivering more than other provinces. The situation

in Punjab is under control except for sporadic incidents. But because the media loves Punjab

more, the government in Punjab considers it its first duty to dream of change.
