M 4PM SELF-BUILD

M INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you! You are reading this, that means you might be
considering a 4PM Self Build. I’m very grateful for that –
I hope you will enjoy constructing yours as much as I did mine.
You can’t beat the satisfaction of making something with your
own hands, especially when you are guaranteed to end up
with a super designer luxury chaise to lounge in.
Measure and cut carefully
and you will have a piece
you can enjoy for years
to come. These plans
are only the start of
the project, please go
ahead and customise
your build in anyway
you like. I would love
to see the results if
you care to share
them. Yours truly,
Chris Martin

Note about drilling holes;
Drill a 5mm Ø clearance hole
through the part you are joining
to the substrate. Drill a 2mm Ø
pilot hole in the substrate. This
Clearance Hole
5mm Ø will ensure the parts close up
against each other nicely and
Pilot Hole the wood will not split.

(!) Drilling into the edge of
the 12mm plywood board can
be tricky, keep the drill as
vertical / perpendicular to
6 the edge as possible!

2. Glue & screw the 390mm batten from above into

the 1040mm battens from above, directly behind
the side panels as shown.

3. Glue & screw board B onto the front edges

of the two A boards. Use board B to mark the
position of the necessary pilot holes.

12
4. Attach four feet

5. Glue & screw the two 640mm battens into

position. Screw from the inside of the plywood
boards. It might be useful to make a template to
make sure that the batten is positioned at 39°.

6. Glue & screw the two 695mm battens into

position. Again, a template will help you
ensure accuracy.
