The Tree’s Plea

If I give you my body and limbs

so that you may have paper, napkin,
and TP to wipe rears with,
at least grant me the dignity
of using me, not simply
tossing me in the trash,
as clean waste.
And after thorough use,
please throw me into compost
so that I may rise again to serve again,
not waste away in landfills
choked with methane.
