Career selection is one of the important choices student will make in determining
N
future plan. This decision will impact them throughout their lives. According to Ahmed,

activity that person may adopt during his educational life or in some other part or till his

death. It also clarifies career as the application of a person’s cognition and capabilities,
C
providing command over profession, timely work expertise and a basis of developing and
C
bettering business networks. Individuals chose career planning to pursue the professional

I
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
N

E
Education is said to be one of the most powerful weapons that we can obtain in
S
order to change the world. It is said to be recognized as the possible solution to the never-
S
ending issues throughout the world. Hence, it is safe to say that choosing the right path
M
that we will take in preparation for our future profession is very essential, especially for
N
those decisions that we will take on or before college. According to Wilensky (1961), “A
G
career is a succession of related jobs, arranged in a hierarchy of prestige, through which
T
LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF GRADE 12 LEARNERS …
DON JESUS GONZALES HIGH SCHOOL
persons move in an ordered (more-or-less predictable) sequence, (p. 523).” Each of us, as
A
an individual, chooses our career depending on our personal preferences and the elements
C
which surround our environment and capabilities. Thus, career planning is a very vital
C
part of determining a students’ plan. It is undeniably one of the most common concerns
O
of the students, especially in those Senior High Schools and also the students at the end
U
of the Junior High School batch. For them, choosing their dream course in college also
N
means that they are already planning to start their overall future, profession, and career.
T
These choices are affected by numerous factors such as cost, location, socioeconomic
A
status, skills, capabilities, hobbies, expectations, school reputations, and many other
N
factors that are also essential for the student to have a comfortable and successful college
C
life. Despite the numerous factors which affect the choices of the students, the
Y
researchers of this study observed that some of the students have still been uncertain and
B
undecided also due to different factors which are also connected to the given factors
U
above. Hence, this inspires the researchers to conduct this study in order to learn,
S
observe, and analyze the factors affecting the decisions of the Grade 12 students
I
regarding their chosen course in college.

Parents who have worked in agriculture have a strong influence on their children's N

college choices. Students' majors are influenced more by their family role models. Many T

factors influence a student's career choice. Parents and friends play an important part A

stable," When these students look into a major or a career path, they seek out the higher Y

salary jobs or they look for major that involves the most job security according to B

Wildman Torres(2002). U

According to Khare (2015), role models influence adolescent career choice: "If a S

student has a good teacher who makes an impression, or a family member who is a I

pharmacist or a carpenter who she looked up to, she may decide on the same career," and N

such factors are positively related to desirable career development outcomes like career E

Choosing the proper career is becoming increasingly crucial for young students
A
nowadays (Fizer, 2013), and a student's preference for a future career is influenced by
C
factors other than their skills and personality (Pascual, 2014) According to McQuiad and
C
Bond, as reported by Quinter (2011), ethnic background, year in school, degree of
O
achievement, choice of science subjects, attitudes, and disparities in job qualities have all
U
been found to influence students' perceptions of being fit for specific careers. Quinter
N
(2011) stated that the most powerful elements influencing career choices are the
T
availability of progression possibilities and learning experiences. Furthermore, he
A
claimed that most males are driven by learning experiences and professional flexibility,
N
whereas females are influenced by growth prospects and the chance to apply skills.
C

According to Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, and Pastorelli (2001) a person's Y

environment, abilities, and academics achievement has an impact on one's career choice. B

According to Kazi and Akhlaq (2017), establishing a profession decision is one of S

the most defining moments in a student's life because they assess numerous elements S

during this process. In a research of factors influencing student profession choice, Kazi M

and Akhlaq (2017) discovered that students are frequently led into certain careers by peer N

and social media influence, resulting in impressionable decisions. Girls appeared to be G

more impacted by peers than their male counterparts in their study. T

According to (Elibol & Harmanci Seren, 2017;Ouanoa et al., 2019),A variety of
A
elements are identified in the research as contributing to adolescent career planning. On a
C
personal level, these include social status, financial resources, personal preferences,
C
affordability, and future employability; on a professional level, these include expectations
O
for future job opportunities and economic stability (Ahmed et al., 2017); and job security
U
and the ability to earn a satisfactory salary (Elibol & Harmanci Seren, 2017; Ouanoa et
N
al., 2019). Family members have a significant impact on professional choices.
T

Choosing a vocation that will influence their future professional route was one of A

the most difficult decisions for students to undertake during their studies (Ouano et al., N

2019;Kaneez & Medha, 2018). Student career management is critical. The majority of C

studies on the factors that influence students' college career and course preferences Y

focuses on senior high school students' college career and course preferences (Rin, B

2021;Dangoy & Madrigal, 2020;Okwulehie, 2018;Penedilla & Rosaldo, U

2017;BUENAFLOR & Buenaflor, 2015;Khoo et al., 2015;Fizer, 2013). Only a few S

research examined the impact of junior high school students' career choices on their I

senior high school academics (Caluma, 2019;Ouano et al., 2019;Kaneez & Medha). A N

few studies were conducted in the local study that focused on the analysis of junior high E

According to R. Fermalino, et.al., (2020) stated that In the present age, numerous N

understudies are uncertain in picking school courses, particularly senior secondary school T

understudies. Picking a school course is one of the main choices you will make in your A

life. A considerable lot of the understudies are as yet confounded about picking the right N

courses that they will take in school. However, the factors are struggling and dealing with C

financial aspect, the capabilities, academic showmanship, decision of the guarding or Y

parents, and the place. Additionally, in simply deciding, understudies ought to know the B

variables that can influence their decision of a school course. Understudies ought to be U

familiar with their assets and shortcomings to direct them on what course they need to S

take up in school. The guardians ought to likewise help, guide, and backing their kids in I

picking the right courses for them. N

E
The Bukas Blog (2021) highlights that Picking the right course or picking a
S
school is one of the main choices you might at any point make in your life, and being
S
reluctant to pursue some unacceptable choice is a legitimate concern. Rather than fearing
M
this large advance, let us help you in going with this huge choice in your life. For
N
approaching understudies, settling on a course and school is a huge choice. While it's
G
absolutely impossible to foresee what will occur from now on, the decisions can decide

the encounters you'll attempt before long. To assist you with choosing the right course
A
and school, here are a few things you ought to consider. Like, Begin with your
C
inclinations, Know your assets and abilities, Check the course happy, Look at a program's
C
procuring potential.
O

The insight of J. Quano, et. Al., 2019 that a large portion of the understudies are N

missing of trust in one's capacities, uncertain and dubious - uncertain of their choices in T

choosing courses in school having with them an assortment of variables that effects their A

decisions. This incited the analysts to lead this review to examine the variables that N

impact the understudies' instructors, guardians, and colleges in fostering the profession C

directing and direction programs for the understudies to work with them in making the Y

right profession decision. B

U
Tan, CJ (2009) explains that the main commitment of the miniature level
S
investigations of individual understudy enlistment conduct is their capacity to appraise
I
the impacts of understudy attributes, institutional qualities, and their collaborations on the
N
likelihood that an understudy will pick a specific school or non college choice.
E
Additionally, understanding the likely enlistment impacts of institutional qualities can
S
assist workforce and directors with fostering the most suitable showcasing blend of
S
alluring projects, conveyed in fitting spots, at adequate costs.
M
According to Mangana & Mila (2001) The fundamental intention of the
N
understudies in picking their individual profession was interest in work and individuals.

C
and AB courses and philosophy who live in the rustic regions and had the honor to
O
concentrate on in the public grade school. Be that as it may, understudies signed up for
U
well being and associated courses.
N

Merlinda ,.et al (2019) elaborated that understudies will generally pick areas of T

study where different understudies will be like them, share their inclinations and A

thoughts, in turn giving them a feeling of having a place in their scholarly local area. N

Feeling an absence of this having a place prompts distress and thus disappointment with C

decision of scholarly major. Generally particularly the sea schooling where understudies Y

are prepared to be confident and autonomous due to the idea of their obligations and B

obligations from their families. Individual decision of the oceanic program could be a U

decent sign that satisfying their aspiration would be a string groundwork of their S

excursion. I

Career decisions require an elevated degree of imagination, trial and error, N

navigation, and sound judgment (Quino, 2022). To create and support interest in a E

specific profession, it is basic to have a functioning information on that field. Self- S

characterizing exercises that are fundamental for the spirit, heart, and force of an S

individual are intensely drawn to enthusiasm. Proficient achievement is probably going to M

happen when a singular's vocation way is lined up with his abilities, character, N

foundation, and knowledge. Various understudies settle on choices in view of individual G

inclinations instead of what the work market requires. T

With the collaboration of Balatbat, M & Dahilig, V (2016), Assessment of how

the students see the elements that effect their own scholarly presentation is essential to
C
guarantee that the learning objectives of any school program are met. Such self insights
C
might direct instructors in picking mediation that should be executed to guarantee

U
investigations and how they adapt to various variables influencing their execution.
N

According to Avilado., et al of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (2020) T

Picking a program or course that best suits your advantage is a critical part on what you A

will turn out to be expertly. It ought to constantly be towards building the right person N

and obtaining the particular abilities and information for you to be prepared when you C

face the corporate world. A few understudies find it significantly more straightforward to Y

sign up for a Diploma course than to finish a Bachelor's Degree. Beside investing a brief B

time of energy contemplating, it centers around the particular expertise you really wanted U

for a particular work. S

Malubay,. et al (2015) stated that Another variable would be the impact of I
