Important Information
o Credits are transferred; grades are not. The credits transferred from another school do not affect a student's grade-point average.
o Only courses in which a grade of 'C' (2.0) or higher is earned will be considered for transfer. Course work completed on a Pass/Fail or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis
typically will not be transferred.
o Course work must be completed at a regionally accredited institution.
o Penn State must offer a similar course or program of study in order to award transfer credit.
o Courses at Penn State carry semester hours of credit. Courses evaluated for transfer from colleges and universities with different credit systems (quarter hours, units) are
converted to semester hours of credit.
o Explanations of transfer credit designations are found at Penn State Credit Equivalencies.
o If appropriate, general credits may be used to fulfill degree requirements. These general credits may be applied to the program of study in accordance with the policies
established by the student's college of enrollment.
Current Students
o A $25 processing fee will be posted to your student account once an official college transcript is received and credits are processed on your record in LionPATH. Please
note that the $25 fee will be assessed per transcript received regardless of whether transfer credit is earned. A fee will not be assessed for test credits, military experience, or
dual enrollment credits. The fee will be added to your bill and is payable to the Bursar's Office.
o All advanced placement or transfer credits placed on the Penn State transcript will count towards the total number of credits a student has accumulated. Please be advised
that a student's tuition will increase as soon as the Penn State transcript reflects 59.1 cumulative credits. This tuition increase will occur during the semester the credits are
transferred.
o For more information click on the following link: Office of the Bursar: Tuition Assessment.
o Students Wishing to Take Summer Courses in China: Courses taken in programs in China that are not part of the regular degree-granting curriculum will not be considered
for transfer credit.
Please Note: Evaluations for transfer of credit by the Undergraduate Admissions Office are based upon the best available information at the time. Revisions to a course evaluation
may be made based on the receipt of new information. No evaluation is officially complete until credits appear on the student's Penn State transcript.

Sending Transcripts
o Penn State requires transfer applicants to submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions where course work was attempted.
1
o Current students should send transcripts of dual enrollment course work or course work completed at a different college/university once the student enrolls at Penn State.
o Once transfer credit is posted to a student's record, it cannot be removed.
o Transcripts must be sent through mail, fax, Parchment, eScrip-Safe, or the National Student Clearinghouse directly to Penn State from the university where course work was
attempted. If your school requires an email address to send a transcript electronically, please use admissions@psu.edu.
