ANCIENT AGES
Ancient Ages
Ancient period was the outbreak of the word
technology that was defined by Homer and Hesiod as
the spoken word of manual craft or cunning skill and
Aristotle coined the Greek term technologia and split
scientific knowledge into three parts: theoretical
science, practical science, and productive science
(technology).
Ancient Ages
During Pre-Historic time (2.3 million yrs), the
earliest form of science and technology were
human artifacts.

300-400 BC- increase the number of

philosopher who wrote Phsychology, biology
and a host of other topics.

EUCLID
Founder of Geometry

ARCHIMEDES
founder of engineering mathematics and
calculated the value of pi.
-400 BC disease symptoms, chemical
substances and astronomical observation
were some of the evidence of emerging
science.

In the same period, the treatment of

wounds and disease and mathematical
calculation have been around for
thousand years.

TECHNOLOGY

which was spun horizontally on axis.
ANCIENT PERIOD
TECHNOLOGY

tremendously and prevalent
during this time.

INVENTIONS
GUN POWDER

Chinese alchemists accidentally invented

the gunpowder. Prior to the invention of
gun powder, swords and spearswere used
in battles and wars. The invention of gun
powder has allowed advanced warfare such
as fiery arrows, cannon sand grenades.
INVENTIONS
PAPER MONEY

- Was first used by Chinese in 17th century.

Before the introduction of paper money,
merchants and traders used precious
metals such as gold and silver.
Using paper money brought advantages,
because it is easier to keep and transport.

INVENTIONS
MECHANICAL CLOCK
The development of mechanical clock
helped the people in accurately keeping the
track of time. The sophistication of clock
work technology drastically changed the
way of spending the day and work patterns
were established.

MODERN Lesson 3

AGES
MODERN
AGES
As the population steadily increased, people
of modern age realized the utmost importance
of increasing efficiency of transportation,
communication, and production.
Industrialization took place with great risk
in human health, food safety and environment
which have to be addressed as scientific and
technological unfolded at an unimaginable
speed.
INVENTIONS

TELESCOPE
-It was Invented by Galileo Galilei that can
magnify 20 times larger than a regular
glasses. This is used to discover
important astronomical discoveries such
as creators and mountains in moon.

INVENTIONS
ENGINE POWDERED
AIRPLANE
It was invented by Orville Wright and Wilbur
Wright. They demonstrated that slightly titled
wings are the key features of aircraft.

INVENTIONS
TELEVISION
It was invented by Scottish engineer John Logie
Baind in 1920s. British broadcasting corporation
used this for its easiest television programming
in 1929. This first television is mechanical and
not the same as the television we have
nowadays.

Lesson 4

PHILIPPINES MANILA
TARA NA SA MAYNILA!
MUST-SEE PLACES WHEN VISITING THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE PHILIPPINES
Suppose you're into this type of cultural
immersion. Why not visit the Philippines'
three other baroque churches that also made
it to the UNESCO list?
Go on a road trip up north to visit the Santa Maria Church in Ilocos Sur
and the Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte. The Miagao Church in Iloilo
might take you off course. Still, it's well worth visiting - perhaps on
your second or third time to the Philippines.
Fort Santiago has a rather dark
history as it served so many
purposes - it was a storage for
war ammunitions, and its
dungeons were turned into cells
for political prisoners.

The National Hero of the Philippines, Jose

Rizal, was detained in Fort Santiago before his
public execution.
While you're still in Manila...
Score cheap finds and hunt for bargains in
Divisoria. It has literally everything you might
need. Just make sure to get that extra baggage
allowance once it's time to go home.
