So, after exploring and enjoying the innate beauty of

Baobawon Island in the Municipality of Plaridel,

Misamis Occidental. I decided to have a quick sojourn in the nearby town, which is in the Municipality of
Baliangao, Misamis Occidental. The town of Baliangao is not just known as the Seafood Capital of Misamis
Occidental. But, this town is also known for having a few numbers of beautiful white sand beach Resort
namely; Bless Amare Sunrise Resort or locally known as Sunrise Beach Resort, Sam Niza Beach Resort,
which both are located close to each other. The Bito-on Beach Resort, Tamban Beach Resort, and the
last two Resorts are Oklahoma Island Rafis Resort and Inday-Inday Beach Resort, and both are located in
Cabgan Island, Baliangao Misamis Occidental. Possibly, these two resorts are the farthest among the
other white sand beach Resorts that is located in Balingao, Misamis Occidental.

Honestly, I haven’t heard about Baliangao before, but since I was on a road trip exploring the Province of
Misamis Occidental, I discover this quiet town on the google map. There – I find it really interesting, that’s
why, I decided to have a visit even for a short period of time.

The clinging heat of the sun at that time was really a struggle. But, since my friend and I were so eager to
traipse our feet in this town, we then continue on our road trip. Actually, both of us were not familiar about
the road going to the Municipality of Baliangao, Misamis Occidental. Merely, we knew that with the help of
our google map, we can surely get to this town. And so, right after asking from locals on which route to
turn next whenever we see junction roads that leads us to confusion. Our silent prayers might have
silently flying to the heavens, and we were able to reach in the town of Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

But, precisely before we finally decided on which resort to visit. We drop by first at the small eatery where
we had our lunch, since it was already late in the afternoon, and we haven’t had our lunch at that time.
Just imagine the feeling of experiencing the clinging heat of the sun kissing our surface, and our hungry
stomach that have been pleading for more than an hour before we finally decided to have our lunch. So, It
was heaven on earth the moment our food was served. After having our lunch, I couldn’t exactly
remember the taste of the food. All I remembered at that time was that, I was satisfied and I’m full.

And then, right after we had our lunch, we asked the owner of the eatery on which Resort she would
recommend, then she gladly told us about the Bless Amare Sunrise Resort. Then, we smiled back at her,
since it was the same beach Resort that one of our friends have recommended.

Bless Amare Sunrise Resort or also Known as Bless Amare Sunrise Retreat Center And Resort is a beautiful
white sand Beach Resort located in Brgy. Tugas, Baliangao, Misamis Occidental. Moreover, this Resort is
known to own a long stretch of white sand shoreline comparing it to other white sand beach resort located
in Baliangao, Misamis Occidental. Possibly this is an exquisite haven for those that love beach while
enjoying the beauty of nature at its best. It really looks like a stunning Cove tucked in the middle both
ends of coral rock and cliffs. And with its cobalt blue water; rich in marine life, and everything that this
Resort has to proffer, it is a place like no other.

In truth, we continue following the google map going to the Bless Amare Sunrise Resort. And after asking
the locals for the clarification about the direction, we were able to traipse our feet at the Resort. It was
excessively hot when we arrived and I can really feel the clinging heat of the sun freely kissing my surface
at that time. Then, we paid PHP 40.00 for the entrance fee, which have granted us a full access to the
Resort.
The moment I entered in the Resort, I immediately noticed how serene the place was. It wasn’t crowded
when we arrived. There were cottages available for rent, ranging from PHP 300.00 to PHP 800.00, this
can be availed for day use and night use. But, if you want to extend your stay and want to have a relaxing
night, you can avail their affordable accommodations, ranging from PHP 1,500.00 to PHP 5,000.00.
Moreover, the Bless Amare Sunrise Resort has so much to offer aside from its turquoise waters, white
sand beach, and rich in marine life. But, the Resort exudes a rustic charm and simplicity, making it
comfortable to lose track of time and just enjoy yourselves. Whether you’re a couple of wandering
travelers, a vacationing family or Barkada, or a company looking for the next setting to their squad-
building activities, there is always something to be found in Bless Amare Surise Resort.
Additionally, the Resort also offers not just a comfort for your eyes and feet, but they also have activities
that will surely make your stay memorable. They have a volleyball court where you can enjoy it for free,
you just have to bring your own ball. Likewise, your inner child will be awaken with their unique swings,
which are tied to the Talisay trees facing the beach using the sturdy rope. The swings are made from
vehicle tires, which I guess, it is so creative to make such.

What I like most about the Bless Amare Sunrise Resort is the Talisay trees lining along the shoreline,
which gives shade to the beach goers, since it can be very hot at times, especially during summer time in
the Philippines. Also, at the end of the white sand shoreline, one can relish the panoramic view of the vast
ocean and the stretch of white sand shoreline from the higher part of the rock coral cliff.
During my sojourn, I was able to commune with nature; enjoying how the sea breeze touching my
surface, the sound of the frail waves kissing the coast, and everything that Bless Amare Sunrise Resort
has to offer. I also loved to take a dip at that time, since the turquoise water is so tempting. But, I didn’t
bring an extra shirt and we also need to travel to the Municipality of Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental
to visit some of their beautiful waterfalls.
Hopefully, on my next visit soon, I can have a leisure time to enjoy more of what this Resort has to proffer.
And to visit some other beach Resorts that are also sited in the Municipality of Baliangao, Misamis
Occidental.

The local government, here, believes ‘Dagatnon’ to be a fitting festival name

for the town’s fiesta in honor of “Our Lady of Mt. Carmel,” on July 16.

This, as Baliangao considers how widely dependent the municipality is to the

‘dagat,’ or sea, that surround it, being the seafood destination of the province,”
Mayor Agne V. Yap, said.
“This dependence is deeply rooted to the customs, way of life and history of
‘Baliangaonons’ as many of the residents are fishermen or have means of
livelihood that depend on the seas,” the Mayor said.
However, the name ‘Baliangao’ is connected to the richness of its marine
environment and local stories point to the origin of the name in reference to
flies, or “langaw.”
The bay was very abundant with fish and sea products since the olden times,
which  could have been one reason for the migration of people from Siquijor
and other adjacent islands in the Visayas to settle in the area in order to find
certain source of livelihood.
The people could not contain the vastness of the said marine products that
people had to make ‘bulad,’ or dried fish and even leave some fishes and shells
dead by the shore.
These circumstances had attracted groups of houseflies, plaguing all over the
area, which might had been the start of calling the place balay sa langaw
(house of flies).
This story has been handed down for generations. Father Edward Tabada, the
parish priest, who hailed from Barangay Landing, this town, tells of another
version.
He said the name of the place came from the words baling langaw. Bali is a
distinct Siquijidnon term for “many” or “anything that denotes a large number
or size,” and these words evolved into the present name “Baliangao.”
Some people say this account is an alamat (myth, legend), others would say,
this has truth in it as this has been part of the cultural heritage and identity of
the town.
It does not put the langaw into pedestal, but stresses on the richness of natural
resources this town has been gifted by the Divine Providence since time
immemorial (Naval, 2014). (Kevin Christian J. Chua/MTO/RCA/PIA-Misamis
