FAQs

General Questions

• What are the competitions under the EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture?
- There are three competitions that college students can join in this year’s EU Whiz: Filipino
Youth of the FEUture:
o Online Trivia
o Video Competition
o Digital Art Competition

• Who are qualified to join the competitions?


The said competitions are open to all college students currently enrolled in any of the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) accredited schools, universities, and colleges
during the competition period.

• Can our team be composed of members from different schools?


- All participating teams on any of the competitions under the EU Whiz program shall be
composed of three (3) members all hailing from the same school.

• I’m a foreign student who’s currently enrolled in a school/university that’s accredited by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Am I eligible to join a team?
- Competitions are only open to Filipino students who are currently enrolled in
schools/universities accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the
school year 2021 – 2022.

• How can my teammates and I join any of the competitions?


- To join, visit https://eeas.europa.eu/delegations/philippines_en or
http://euwhizfyf2021.engage.eu/ to download the editable application form. Once
accomplished, send your application form to the EU Whiz’s secretariat team for screening
and evaluation at secretariat@euwhiz.ph.

• What is the maximum number of members for each team?


- All teams are allowed to have a maximum of three (3) student members. Members will then
select a representative from their group who will serve as their team captain. All members
must be bona fide students currently enrolled in a school accredited by the Commission on
Higher Education (CHED) for the 2021 – 2022 school year. Please note that application form
should be signed by the school’s official representative.
• My teammates and I are currently enrolled in a provincial school that is accredited by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Are we eligible to join the competition?
- Yes, all competitions under the EU Whiz program are open to all Filipino students enrolled in
bonafide/accredited colleges, universities and schools.

• Do we need to pay joining fees for any of the competitions?


- The European Union Delegation in the Philippines does not require a fee or any form of
payment in order to join any of its EU Whiz competition. Should you encounter any
unauthorized solicitation or charging of joining fees, please alert the secretariat at
secretariat@euwhiz.ph.

• How many teams per school can join?


- There is no limit to the number of participating teams per school in any of the competitions.

• Can my teammates and I join more than one competition?


- Yes, students or teams may join multiple competitions as long as they meet the other
requirements and qualifications outlined in the mechanics.

Online Trivia Competition

• What are the questions that will be asked during the competition?
- Questions for the Online Trivia Competition will revolve around general facts about the
European Union (history, trade and development policies and programmes), EU-Philippines
relations, current events (COVID 19, Green Deal, Circular Economy), EU Values, as well as EU
and EU Member States’ pop culture and trends (ex. sports, cuisine, celebrities). References
for the competition can be found online and will also be posted weekly on the European
Union Delegation in the Philippines’ official Facebook page.

• What platform will be used for the competition?


- The actual competition will be held via Zoom, while the EU Whiz Trivia will be conducted
through the Kahoot mobile application.

• What is the quiz format?


- The quiz will be in the form of multiple choice. Teams will be given 20 seconds to que in
their answers.

• What do my teammates and I need during the competition proper?


- Since the competition will be held online, participants are required to have a stable internet
connection, a laptop/desktop with audio and camera functionalities and a smartphone that
can connect to WiFi or internet network.
Digital Art and Video Competition

• Can we submit our original artworks that have already won in other competition (s)?
- No. Some competitions require artists to transfer some level of ownership of the artwork to
the project proponents. To avoid any legal issues for your team, artworks previously entered
in other competitions will not be accepted.

• Can I commission someone to do my artwork?


- Using the work of others is strictly prohibited. Teams will be required to attest that the
artworks that they will submit as official competition entries do not violate any copyright or
ownership.

• What happens if my entry fails to meet any of the requirement/specification stated on the
competition mechanics?
- All entries/applications will be screened and evaluated by the secretariat team before
handing over to the judges. Failure to comply on any of the specification/requirement may
result in disqualification.

• How will the entries be judged? Who will judge the entries?
- After passing the initial screening process, the competition secretariat will endorse the
qualified entries to the panel of judges who will then evaluate each entry guided by the
criteria outlined in the mechanics. Qualified entries will be judged by industry leaders and
practitioners. The composition of the judging panel will be announced on the European
Union Delegation in the Philippines Facebook page.

• Will the ownership of my artwork/video material be transferred when I submit it as an entry?


- No, the ownership of the submitted material will not be transferred to the European Union
Delegation in the Philippines or the competition secretariat. But submitting the material as
an entry to the competition will allow the European Union Delegation in the Philippines and
competition organizers to publish them online with full acknowledgement and credit to the
team members and their respective schools.
