1.5.2 Distribution System

i. Air Distribution System

In general, the common return and supply air shafts will be used for exhausting air
and outdoor air make-up for the air-conditioning system.

i. Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) AHU System to serve Podium Level 1 to

Level 4

Level 1 to Level 4 podium common areas shall be served by VRV AHU on a

zonal basis. The VAV system is proposed to serve the common spaces and as
the podium is segregated to many smaller tenancy units where occupancy rates
can vary significantly. With a VRV system, the energy consumption can be
optimized with the varying occupancy rates. VRV AHU system has the
following advantages over the conventional AHU system.
a. Smaller footprint
b. Simplex ducting from the indoor units to the supply air grilles
c. Simple control with Intelligent Touch Manager
d. Easier Maintenance without chillers, cooling towers and pumps
