Flex Art Foil, a subsidiary of Ess Dee Aluminium is planning to set up a unit in Bangalore to carry out the activities of printing aluminium foils based packaging products. GAIL (India) has signed a Joint Venture (JV) agreement with Karnataka State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation to take up setting up of Natural Gas infrastructure in industrial estates/ areas/ clusters, City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks, distributed power generation projects in industrial areas and gas distribution infrastructure downstream of trunk lines in the state of Karnataka. Forest Advisory Committee of the environment ministry has refused to approve diversion of forest land for the three proposed hydro power project. NHPC's Kotlibhel IB , Kotlibhel II and GMR Energy's Alaknanda Badrinath Hydropower. The projects are likely to be shelved. P4P Private Ltd, a new company has been approved to set up a 1 MW solar power canal cover project to generate solar power by utilising the space over the canals in the state. The pilot project would be set up over the space allocated to the company which would also save canal water up to 5 million gallons a year by reducing evaporation, in addition to utilise the space over the canals thereby saving land space. MHS Energy is planning to invest Rs.1500 million in the next three years to manufacture solar power units for telecom towers in technical collaboration with b+w Electronics Systems , Germany. The unit will produce Advanced Solar Power Cube and Advanced Solar Energy Cube for powering telecom towers.

Moser Baer Subsidiary plans 5 MW thin film based solar power plant in TN.
Sector : Energy | Subsector : Solar Energy | Current Status : Funds Mobilization Sapphire Industrial Infrastructures , a subsidiary of Moser Baer Clean Energy is planning to set up a 5 megawatt solar plant at Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu. The project is touted to be the country's first large-scale grid-connected thin-film solar plant. The project was awarded to Sapphire Industrial Infrastructure through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Tamil Nadu Renewable Development Agency. The plant will have a

As of June 2011, International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group has decided to invest close to US$ 4 million to part fund the project. Jindal Synfuels Reports Progress on CTL Project in Orissa.
Sector : Petroleum | Subsector : Coal to Liquid | Current Status : Pre Project Activities Underway Jindal Synfuels, a subsidiary of Jindal Steel & Power has reported progress on its proposed coal to liquid project proposed to be set up near Angul in Orissa. The project involves a 30 MMTPA Run of Mine (ROM) Coal and it will produce 80,000 barrels per day (bpd) equivalent of key oil products such as Diesel, Naphtha, and LPG. The project comprises three units namely Coal Gasification, Fischers-Tropsch synthesis (liquefaction), and Product Up-gradation. The project is estimated to cost Rs.450,000 million. As of June 2011, work on the project has commenced. The project is expected to be operational in 2017-18. Roots Corporation Plans 3 Business Class Hotels in Orissa.
Sector : Hospitality | Subsector : Hotels | Current Status : Conceptual Stage Roots Corporation that operates Ginger Hotels, a affordable business class hotels is planning to set up three new hotels in Orissa. The company is planning to set up hotels Kalinga Nagar, Paradip and Jharsuguda and each will have a capacity of 70- 75 rooms. The project is estimated to cost Rs.300 350 million. As of June 2011, the project is in the conceptual stage . Further developments may be seen in the next quarter.
