Squib cable (gas generator cable)

1. Place the machine in service position, see Regras de segurança durante o serviço.

AVISO
É rigorosamente proibido ajustar válvulas com o motor funcionando; as válvulas podem atingir o pistão, causando
danificação grave.

2. Disconnect the squib cable (gas generator cable) to deactivate the fire suppression system.
 3. Remove the engine hood, see Capô, remoção

4. Remove the lower side grilles (2). Remove the bottom plates (3) and the plate on the bulkhead (1).

penetrem através de esses orifícios podem destruir o motor!

5. AVISO
Limpe em redor da tampa de válvulas, intercooler e turbo para evitar que resíduos de óleo, etc. penetrem no
motor durante o serviço.

Unplug the cable connections from the preheating coil. Disconnect the cable bracket from the valve cover, put it
aside carefully. Disconnect the oil trap from the valve cover. Cover the connections with plastic bags and rubber
bands.

6. Remove the valve cover.

 7. Remove the IEGR-unit.

8. Install M8x75 mm —10.9 bolts in the holes for the IEGR-unit on the rocker arm holders.

9. Crank the engine to a position where the valves on the cylinder number 1 overlap.

Overlapping means that the exhaust valve is about to close and the inlet valve is about to open. In this position it should not
be possible to rotate by hand any of the push rods for the cylinder in question.

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 are exhaust valves

2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 are inlet valves

10. Mark the position on the oscillation damper.

11. Adjust the valve clearance for each cylinder according to the black markings in the figure. Procedure for adjusting:

1. Loosen the adjusting screw's lock screw on the rocker arm.

2. Install the protractor on the adjusting screw.
3. Turn the adjusting screw until zero clearance is obtained between rocker arm and valve. Set the protractor
to zero.
4. Turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise 90° for inlet valve and 150° for exhaust valve.
5. Hold the adjusting screw in position and at the same time tighten the lock nut. Tightening torque: see

12. Turn the crankshaft one more revolution until the valves for cylinder number 6 overlap. Adjust the valve clearance
for each cylinder according to the black markings in the figure.
NOTA:
When all valves are adjusted, do not crank the engine. Continue immediately with installing and adjusting the IEGR-
unit

13. Install a new pipe between the two IEGR-sections. Lubricate the O-rings.

14. Remove the replacement bolts from the IEGR-unit's installation holes.

15. Install the IEGR-unit.

16. With overlapping valves for cylinder 6, adjust the IEGR—opening piston cylinder 1, 3, and 5. Method for
adjusting IEGR-opening piston:
 1. Loosen the adjusting screw's lock screw on the IEGR-unit.
2. Install a protractor on the adjusting screw.
3. Turn the adjusting screw until zero clearance is obtained between IEGR-opening piston and exhaust rocker
arm. Set the protractor to zero.
4. Turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise 144°.
5. Hold the adjusting screw in position and at the same time tighten the lock nut. Tightening torque: see

17. Turn the crankshaft one more revolution until the valves for cylinder number 1 overlap. Adjust the IEGR—
opening piston for cylinder 2, 4, and 6.

18. Install the gasket on the valve cover.

NOTA:
Make sure that the tab (1) on the gasket ends up in the correct position.

20. Install the oil trap.

21. Install the cable bracket.

22. Connect the squib cable (gas generator cable) to restore the fire suppression system, on the condition that the
alarm has not been activated during the work.

23. Install the plate in the bulkhead (1), bottom plates (3) and the lower side grilles (2).
