6. Adjust the height of the arm extensions for dual monitors as follows:
a. If you have dual monitors, readjust the height of the arm extensions. The use of
dual monitors determines the final distance between the monitors. You should
leave a distance of at least 1 inch between the top of the bottom monitor and the
bottom of the top monitor.
Connect the power and video cables to the monitors, refer to“Monitor Video Cables and ac
Power Connection” on page 22.

Monitor Video Cables and ac Power Connection

Video Signal Cables
Since the LCD2080UX monitor can be operated in either an analog or digital video signal mode,
you must decide which mode to use. The mode selected determines the distance of the worksta-
tion to the monitor and the length of the video cables.
If the workstation has only an analog video generator available, then you must choose from the
analog suite of cables listed in Table 2-2. Some newer workstations offer a choice of either analog
or digital video outputs. Until recently, only analog video (RGB) was offered but, where feasible,
the digital video should be considered due to its enhanced clarity and lack of shadowing on the
displayed image.
Because of the high bandwidth required by digital signals, the Foxboro supported transmission
distances are only up to 4.5 m (15 ft). If cable lengths of greater than 4.5 m are necessary, then
analog signals must be used. To support these two video transmission schemes, two series of cables
support the video connections. Table 2-2 lists the part numbers and lengths for analog cables
(VGA) and Table 2-3 lists the part numbers and lengths for digital cables (DVI-D).

b. Attach the cable clip(s) to keep cords organized and intact (see Figure 2-23)
3. Adjust the tilter friction (see Figure 2-24) to make sure that the monitor is secure to
the tilter and the tilter has been completely inserted into the arm as follows:
a. Tilt the monitor so it faces upward and locate the set screw under the tilter.
b. Inset a 7/32 inch Allen wrench into the set screw to adjust the tilt friction.

NOTE
To increase the friction turn the wrench counter-clockwise as viewed from the bot-
tom of the tilter shaft. To decrease, turn the wrench to the clockwise.

ac Power
Connector

Figure 2-25. ac Power Connector

NOTE
The power receptacle is located under the back cover. Because the bay may be
located at a cable distance of up to 30 m (100 ft) from the monitor’s video source,
there may be a difference in the Earth potential between the bay and the video
source. Therefore, ensure that the Earth connection to the power receptacle block in
each bay is at the same voltage level as the Earth of the video generator. Inadequate
Earthing may result in disappointing video display operation.

7. Switch the LCD monitor’s “vacation” power switch to the 1 (On - up) position. The
“vacation” power switch is located on the right side of the monitor (viewed from rear -
see Figure 2-22).
8. Turn on power in the Command Center bay by switching on the external main power
to the bay.
9. Turn the monitor on by pressing the button on the front of the monitor.
10. Match up the monitor and processor resolutions as described in Flat Panel Monitor
Software Setup for UNIX® and Windows® Workstations (B0193PL) which is provided
with the monitor.

Replace Covers
1. Replace the front cover plate and the lower rear cover. Refer to Figure 2-16 page 19.
2. Replace the two rear cover plates. Refer to Figure 2-16 page 19.

General Clean-up
After completing the above instructions, all worksurfaces and top panels should be fastened such
that there is a tight seam between adjacent modules.
Upon completion, wipe the Command Center down with a non-abrasive household detergent.
