HH6B (CONNECTIVE TISSUE) HUMAN HISTOLOGY BMLS 2

• Adipose Connective Tissue • The fat lobules are a group of fat cells that are isolated
- Cells: closely packed adipocytes from other fat cells. The fat lobules are surrounded by
- Connective Tissue Fibers: collagen collagen fibers.
- ICS: small amount of gelatinous ground substance

TYPES OF ADIPOSE TISSUE

1. Unilocular Adipose Tissue
• one big globule of fats in the cytoplasm of the cell
• white / yellow adipose tissue
2. Multilocular Adipose Tissue
• has many fat globules in the cytoplasm of the cell
• brown adipose tissue

• The nucleus is found in the periphery of the cell. It could

be upper and lower part of the cell
• Reticular Connective Tissue
- Cells: reticular cells
- Fibers: reticular fibers
- ICS: gelatinous ground substance
- They could not be stain using an ordinary stain. It
uses a very special staining technique that uses a
substance called silver

• The cell membrane and the nucleus that is pushed to one

side of the cell is so distinct

• The adipocytes are closely packed and they are supported

by the fibrous connective tissue called the collagen fibers

HH6B (CONNECTIVE TISSUE) HUMAN HISTOLOGY BMLS 2

• In between of fibroblasts and collagen fibers is a very

small amount of ICS

• Dense Connective Tissue (Irregular)

- Dense Irregular CT
- Cells: fibroblasts
- Fibers: collagen; some elastic
- irregularly arranged bundles of fibers with few cells
• After the metallic staining technique, the reticular fibers
and little ground substance
and cells forms an outline. The network appearance of
- high tensile strength exerted from different directions
fibers and cells is present
- they could withstand pressure exerted from different
directions

• Dense Connective Tissue (Regular)

- Dense Regular CT
- Cells: fibroblasts (synthesizes the connective tissue
fibers)
- Fibers: collagen, some elastic
- parallel-arranged bundles of fibers with few cells and
little ground substance
- provide great tensile strength exerted in one direction
