STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN THE PHILIPPINES
(SIPP)
I. INTRODUCTION
The University of Rizal System in its pursuit for
excellence in technical and vocational education undertakes
several measures to ensure the quality of its output. Massive
staff development has always been the priority of the admin-
istration. Physical facilities are continuously upgraded. Being
aware of the mismatch between manpower supply and demand,
the university has established and maintained linkages with in-
dustries. Curriculum content is always modified/revised in order
to meet the demands of time, the clientele and the society. This
also gives way to as a pre-requisite for graduation. This will
ensure that maximum learning and job proficiency will be
achieved by the student-trainee. The program will supplement
the student’s technical skills and knowledge acquired in the
course and will same way, same operations, same tools and the
machines used in the work or occupation itself. Furthermore, it
will equip the student with a working knowledge of the dynamics
of employer-employee relationship which is not found and
experienced in the school shop.

II. THE PROGRAM

The program is design for students who have

completed basic training area in their field of specialization.
Likewise, only the regular students who have completed
their major subjects are permitted to participate to this
training program.

III. STRATEGIES FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION

Students brought to the industrial plants/officers are given

INTERNSHIP REQUIRED HOURS RENDRED induction training under the direct supervision of the supervisor
of the Host Training Establishment. The training and placement
officer of the school as well as the SIPP Coordinator will make
scheduled visit to see the progress of the trainee.

The student intern is required to accomplish his/her log

book daily to be signed by his/her immediate supervisor at the
end of the office hour. He/She has to keep this log book in order
to monitor the accomplishment and serve as a reference in mak-
ing the training report.
