2. Equipment Overview

2.1 Equipment Specifications

2.1.1 Repeater

Characteristics
 Suitable for 900MHz & 2100MHz frequency band.
 Linear power amplifier and highly integrated modules to ensure the
stability of the inter-modulation (IMD3).
 Low noise figure, high system gain, perfect communication quality.
 Low power consumption, compact size, easy for maintenance and
installation.
 Support dual band base station, amplify any channel within
supported work band.
 Monitor & alarm, support remote monitor and all kinds of alarms.
 Optional monitor methods, RS232/SMS.

Product Description
FiberHome’s dual-band wireless repeater can amplify two bands or multiple sub-bands signals at the
same time by sharing one antenna feeder system. It is a good solution for multi-operator coverage
projects because the infrastructure costs will be greatly reduced.
In the downlink path, the repeater will pick up the signal from the exiting transmitter via the donor
antenna, amplifying and re-transmitting it into the desired coverage area via the service antenna. In
the uplink path, the repeater will receive signals from cell phones in the covered area and re-transmit
them back to the base station.

3.2 Site Readiness
a) On-site Survey
Before installation, technicians should consult with the project manager of the client and learn

whether the installation site is ready for equipment installation. Specifically, they should survey

such items as the installation site, wall, room, surrounding environment (temperature and

humidity) and power supply. Where conditions permit, they should make an on-site survey

together with the relevant persons of the client.

b) Installation Tools
Installation tools include: electric percussion drill, iron hammer, pulley, rope, safety belt, safety

hat, ladder, screwdriver, hacksaw, knife, pliers, spanner, compass, tape, tweezers, electric iron,

etc. See Figure 2

c) Technical Documentation
The technicians should keep on hand, and read in advance, such documents as Project Design

/ As Built Document / Project Proposal/ Technical Site Survey Report, Equipment Installation

Specifications.

3.3 Unpacking and Materials Checking

a) Counting The Goods
The two parties should unpack and count the goods according to the packing list. Taking photos

will help logistic team in the future inventory. Check whether the packing box is intact in

appearance. If any goods are wrong or missing or if the outer package is damaged seriously,

stop unpacking immediately and find out the cause, and report to the relevant department.
b) Unpacking Inspection
Open the packing box if it is intact. Handle with care to avoid damaging anything. After the packing

box is opened, check whether the goods inside match the packing list and whether the packing

list matches the inspection list in the Unpacking Inspection Report. If any goods are wrong or

missing or if the outer package is damaged seriously, find out the cause, and report to the relevant

department.

After unpacking inspection, fill out the Unpacking Inspection Report. Both parties shall sign the

Report, and then the goods shall be handed over to the user. Each party shall hold one copy of

the Unpacking Inspection Report, and the project supervisor should feedback the “Inspection

Conclusion” within seven days to the vendor for documentation.

The Repeater is attached with such installation fittings as installation bracket and fixing pieces.

The bracket of the Repeater can be mounted on wall. The bottom of the equipment is usually

about 1.5 m above the ground and at least 0.5m clearance in both sides. Wall mounting steps

are as follows:

 Select an appropriate position to mount. The signal booster is better to be mounted close to walls.

At the position selected by marker pen, use the electric drill punch a hole in the wall. Then fasten

and fix with expansion bolts.

 Connect Service ANT Port with the ports of indoor covering system or indoor relay antenna. In

general, the distributed antenna system (DAS) is composed of several splitters, couplers,

antennas and applied as per specific engineering design for the purpose of satisfying the signal

covering demands in large area or complicated terrain indoor space. In the case of small area

indoor space, the requirements for covering can be satisfied by using single relay antenna with

the option of hanging antenna or ceiling antenna. See DAS Installation Standard

Accessing the signal by using a small Yagi antenna or Logarithm Period Antenna (Log-Periodic

Antenna), low power repeater amplifies the signal and combines with the distributed antenna

system, which quickly improve the signal in shadowy or blind zones.

 Before connecting, the power interface shown in the diagram, make sure the DAS system are

interfaced with the Repeater.

PGround Cable (6 mm2)

The Repeater must be ground properly. On the sides of the main chassis of the Repeater are
grounding bolts (M4), which are connected to the ground with 6mm2 or thicker copper wire. The
grounding cable should be as short as possible.

Additional Information
1) For installation on an iron pole, the grounding cable of the equipment is usually
connected to the iron pole (iron tower). The grounding resistance (R) of the iron pole
should be less than 10 Ω and the grounding junction pieces should be protected from
corrosion.

2) For installation on the wall, the grounding cable of the equipment is connected to the
integrated grounding bar. The grounding resistance (R) of the grounding bar should be
less than 5 Ω and the grounding junction pieces should be protected from corrosion.
3.6 Power System Installation
For the Repeater not requiring standby power supply, the 220V/50Hz AC power can be led in

directly from the power outlet. The power in-lead copper diameter should be greater than 2mm2

and the length should be shorter than 30 meters.

Power Cable Tapping Point Distance

Cable Length Cable Size

≤ 30 meters ≥ 2mm²

30 meters or higher ≥ 3.5mm²

If standby power supply is required, the power must first be led into the UPS and then led from

the UPS to the power outlet of the Repeater. Note that, according to the design, the UPS is usually

a commercial product and must be put indoors.

Note: To ensure personal safety, make sure to disconnect the external contactor before
connecting 220V AC power supply to the equipment and take care never to work in
rainstorms.

3.7 Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Installation
FiberHome strengthen business by eliminating weak mobile phone and wireless signals. It
support dramatically improves cell phone reception by installing state-of- the-art DAS in the
building.
The Repeater DAS should be connected with two sets of antenna feeder systems, one set is
the donor antenna connected to the donor interface and the other is the service antenna
connected to the service interface. The requirements for the installation of the antenna
feeder systems of the Repeater are the similar to those for the BTS. See Figure 9 (Distribute
Antenna System)

Technicians should always follow testing methodology.
1. Objective: To be able to comply with Customer VSWR Requirement.
Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR): ≤1.25
Distance-To-Fault (DTF): ≤ 1.04
Requirement:
*Equipment: SiteMaster (Sweep Tester)

d. Save the test result for customer requirement and documentation.
e. Connect all cables and components after the testing and properly tighten.

4 DAS System Labels

Engineering Label is very important to determine all sections of the DAS System. In the
future, this could help technicians to trace area of the systems for troubleshooting
especially if there are sections in the building which have signal degradation.
