1. INTRODUCTION

Typology – Hospital
Location - Palayamkottai ward, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Client - A Doctor, who wanted to have her own hospital in the city.
Structural
Engineer - A notable structural engineer, who has done various notable
buildings across Tirunelveli .
Area - 2009 sqm.

A. BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY


• To verify/ check if the building has proper accessibility for the users.
• To verify/ check if the building satisfies the needs of the users.
B. STATEMENT OF APPRAISAL
To make sure that the users are having a safe and a happy environment.
C. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
To see if the accessibility within the building satisfies the users , and also
to study if the users have proper basic facilities and ventilation.
D. AIM/OBJECTIVE
To find out if the building has proper accessibility, basic facilities and
proper ventilation.
E. APPRAISAL QUESTION
Does the hospital provide proper accessibility and facilities for the users?
F. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
To find if the hospital has proper accessibility for the users and they are
provided with proper basic facilities and ventilation.
G. LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
To see if the users have proper accessibility and are satisfied with the
facilities.
H. DEFINITION OF THE SIGNIFICANT TERMS USED IN THE STUDY
ACCESSIBILITY – To have a proper, easy and a safe access within the building.

2. LITERATURE REVIEW
A. INTRODUCTION
The journal states that , Architecture is about creating environment for user; for
them to experience it. Well-designed places and objects can improve healing,
while poor design can inhibit it.
It also states that , the case of patients who irrespective of their health
problems, also have physical, mental, sensory or psychological impairments.
The process of adapting the hospital setting to the needs of all users must, of
course, cater for those cases where there is a difficulty in moving around, but it
must also cater for those who have difficulties communicating, hearing, seeing,
finding their bearings or knowing where they are heading within the hospital
space.
It also talks about the need of providing proper accessibilities for the users.
