SS2 TECHNICAL DRAWING LESSON PLAN WEEK 1 REAl
SS2 TECHNICAL DRAWING LESSON PLAN WEEK 1 REAl
TIME TABLE FIT: In the previous lesson, the learners had learnt about how to properly
deduce the true length and angles of lines in space
MAIN AIM: The learners will be able to identify and give detailed explanation of the key
terms in planes and views in space, determine the possible orientation of planes in space and
will also be able to plot out the projection of planes to horizontal and vertical planes in First
quadrant.
SUBSIDIARY AIMS: By the end of this lesson, the learners should be able to
1. Identify and explain the key terms in Planes and Views in Space
2. Determine the possible orientations of Planes
3. Plot out the projection of planes to horizontal and vertical planes in First quadrant
PERSONAL AIM: To ensure that the learners fully understand and are conversant with the
key terms in planes and views in space, determine some possible orientation of planes and plot
out the projection of planes to horizontal and vertical planes in First quadrant.
ASSUMPTION: The learners may have an idea about planes and views in space from their
textbooks and from online
ANTICIPATED PROBLEM: The learners may find it difficult to understand the concept of
planes and views in space and also the proper way to achieve the projection of plane sin space
due to lack of concentration, lack of drawing materials and stress.
TEACHING MATERIAL: Drawing materials and equipment, posters, video clips, models,
charts etc.
LEAD IN: Planes are a two dimensional object having length and breadth only and has no or
negligible thickness. A plane surface may be of any shape eg. Circular, square, rectangle,
pentagon, hexagon, etc. Projection is the process of the image of the plane of surface to the
plane of projection, in this note the plane of projection will be First Quadrant.
PROCEDURE
STEP 1: KEY TERMS IN PLANES AND VIEWS IN SPACE
There are some key terms in planes and views in space, they are listed below:
1. Horizontal trace
2. Vertical trace
3. Perpendicular planes
4. Oblique planes
1. Horizontal trace: This is the intersection line of the plane surface with the Horizontal plane
(H.P)
2. Vertical trace: This is the intersection line of the plane surface with Vertical plane (V.P)
3. Perpendicular planes: These are planes which are perpendicular to one of the principal
planes of projection and inclined or parallel to the other
4. Oblique planes: These are planes inclined to both the reference planes
Example 2: Draw the projections of a circle of 5cm diameter is having its plane vertical and
inclined at 30° to the V.P. Its centre is 3cm above the HP and 2cm in front of the V.P. Show
also its traces.
Solution
STUDENTS’ EVALUATION:
1. Explain in your own understanding, two key terms used in planes and views in space
2. Identify three possible orientation of planes
3. A regular hexagon of 30mm side has one side on the ground. Its plane is inclined at 30° to the
H.P and perpendicular to the V.P. Draw the projections and show its traces.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Explain key terms in plane and views in space in your own words
2. Identify three possible orientation of planes
3. A pentagonal lamina of 30mm side has one edge in HP and inclined at 30° to the VP. Draw
its projection when its surface is inclined at 45° to the HP
CONCLUSION: For planes to be projected properly it requires the description of the plane
figure and its position with Horizontal plane and Vertical plane. The position can either be
described as inclination of its surface with one of the reference planes or inclination of one of
its edges with the reference planes.
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE: MORAL ORDER: The only divinely inspired, authoritarian rule of
faith and conduct is the bible
BIBLICAL INTEGRATED LESSON: By the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to
understand that just as we have seen in the note that projection of the planes in various possible
orientation were a drawing of the planes (a replica) so is the bible a projection of God’s divine
word which is the inspired and authoritarian rule of faith and conduct.
