Question:

Your local college is organising an event on International Student’s Day.

Write a letter to the organiser and say:

 What topics would you like them to cover.

 Why would it be interesting for students.

 Ask questions about the arrangement.

Task 1- Module 9
Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to make a suggestion for the upcoming International Student’s Day

event.

I think it would be very interesting to hear from some international students who
study here in our local area. It would be great to get an insight into their feelings
about our country, any difficulties they have had and how we might help foreign
students in the future.

Many of our local students don’t realise how highly our school is regarded
internationally and it might make them realise how lucky they are to attend such a
revered institution. Also, some of our alumni from other countries might be too shy to
voice any problems they have and the talk would be a good opportunity to address
any concerns.

I have one other query. Is it possible to bring a friend on the day or should they book a
ticket at the international office? My friend is not a student but would find the event
extremely interesting because she is actually a refugee. If so, how much would this
cost?

Thank you for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Chris Pell
