I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:

a. estimate weights of objects;
b. measuring weight using grams and kilograms;
c. apply measuring weight in real-life situation
A. Content The learner …
Standards
demonstrates understanding of time and nonstandard
units of length, mass and capacity.
B. Performance The learner …
Standards
is able to apply knowledge of time and non-standard
measures of length, mass, and capacity in mathematical
problems and real-life situations
C. Most Essential compares objects using comparative words: short, shorter,
Learning shortest; long, longer, longest; heavy, heavier, heaviest;

IV. PROCEDURES (Indicate which parts of the procedures will be delivered
synchronously or asynchronously)
A. Introduction Reviewing the students by asking these questions:
What is the lesson yesterday?
Convert the following centimeters to meters.
1. 300 cm =
2. 700 cm =
3. 400 cm =
4. 600 cm =
5. 900 cm=

Do you know how much you weigh? Objects, whether

big or small, have weight. An eight-year -old boy
normally weighs between 20-35 kilograms. Look at the
picture. What is wrong with it?

The heavier boy should be at the lower part of the

seesaw.
Weight can be measured accurately by using tools like the
weighing scales shown below. It can be expressed in
grams or kilograms.

The kilogram is the basic unit of weight. Take note that 1

kilogram = 1,000 grams. The symbol for gram is g and the
symbol for kilogram is kg.
Grams
We use grams (g) when weighing extremely light things
like a grain of rice, a feather, or a pen.
Kilograms
We use kilograms (kg) when weighing things that aren't
too light or too heavy, like people, bags and small animals.

C. Engagement Engagement
Tell the unit you will use to weigh each of the
following:
1. One mango. g / kg
2. A mobile phone g / kg
3. A watermelon. g / kg
4. A feather. g / kg
5. A dog. g / kg
6. A cat g / kg
7. An airplane g / kg
8. A television g / kg
9. An elephant g / kg
10. One piece of grape g / kg
ASSESSMENT
Convert grams to kilograms and kilograms to grams.
1. A basket of apples weighs 3kg. Give the weight of
the apples in g. 3kg = ___ g
2. A box of milk weighs 2,000 g. Give its weight in kg.
2,000 g ___ kg
3. 6kg = __g
4. 10kg = __g
5. 2,000g = __kg
6. 7,000g = __kg
7. 9,000g = __kg
8. 3,000g = __kg
9. 7kg= __g
10. 12kg __g

D. Assimilation The teacher and the student will check their activities and
discuss on how it is done. Then the teacher will also
discuss about its importance and valuing.
