The world was shocked by the outbreak of new diseases at the start of 2020.

Coronavirus
disease 2019 is the name given to the disease caused by a Coronavirus infection (COVID-
19). Covid-19's spread in Indonesia has been increasing over time. In anticipation of the
spread of Covid-19, Pandeglang Regent Irna Narulita issued an appeal to conduct teaching
and learning activities at home via an online-based learning system. The purpose of this
research is to determine the efficacy of online-based mathematics learning for students at
MTs Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes during the Covid-19 outbreak. The descriptive qualitative
approach was used in this study. A student response questionnaire sheet and interview
guidelines were used as the research instruments. The results show that online-based
mathematics learning via the WhatsApp online application has been running quite effectively,
because the four indicators used by researchers in this study are met, namely the ability of
teachers to manage learning well, student activity in good learning, student responses to
positive learning, namely a score of 2.76, and student learning outcomes achieved individual
and classical completeness. On the other hand, students are preferred direct mathematics
learning over online mathematics learning.
