Photoshop record logo design

To make my logo I first had to complete a rough sketch of what I wanted the design to
look like, through this I was able to start quicker. Firstly, I had to open up photoshop
which is placed in the windows button and after clicking it the settings page which
determines how I want my page to be shaped and if it was to be horizontally or
vertically done. I selected my chosen setting and a clear white page appeared in the
front screen, once I had my page set up, I started with the base. The base was the
actual eye, so I wanted something that did not look real but also did not look fake or
too cartoonish. I went on to google and found this outline as seen above, this picture
was good in many ways as it did not look real but it also did not have the clear
cartoon features that we see on characters all the time, the blank expression on the eye
was perfect to fit any writing I wanted to but in and the colour was a good mix and
not to bright so that the writing I did put on would not be hard to see.

After I was happy with the image, I found I quickly downloaded it and save it as a
JPEG file so that it was easily imported into photoshop. When importing the file all I
had to do was go to file click either import or place and the folder section will appear,
then simply search for where you saved it and click okay. The file will appear on the
screen quite small, so I simply used CTRL + Alt + T which selects the following layer
allowing me to either decrease or increase the size. Obviously in this case I wanted
the size to be increased so after making it the way I wanted I went on to the next
section. When I was happy with the size, I needed to take the background out and
colour in the missing bits that either didn't cut out completely or erased too much.
Using the brush tool, I went in and coloured the outline so that it looked cleaner so
that when looking from afar the audience would see a better view. The final additions
were including the text, the logo S.I.F.T needed to be the most visible thing on the
page, so I made it the centrepiece in black writing big enough to take up the space
around the inside of the eye. The other text is just the slogan that I wanted people to
see but not let it focus all their attention on it. All that was left to do was add on the
grey background as I felt leaving it white would just make it look quite plain and it
wanted it to attract and interest the reading almost immediately after looking at the
adverts.

This is the final product
