The Consortium unites Miamis dominant public and private universities around a hemispheric educational agenda that builds on the citys status as a commercial and cultural gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean as well as both institutions long traditions of excellence in educational programs focused on the region. This partnership was recently solidified when the Miami Consortium received a federal Title VI grant and was deemed a National Resource Center (NRC) by the Department of Education. With the designation of a NRC, the Consortium has been able to pursue our mission of promoting scholarly knowledge and stimulating public awareness of all aspects of the regions cultures and societies.
