DESIGN BASIS REPORT FOR HOARDING A FRAME

Client Name : Saurabh Engineers & Graphics, India.

Submitted by : Nord-The Design Hub
Site Location : Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
Job No. : DBR/F/2225/101/R0
Written by : Er. Abdul Wasey (Structural Engineer)
Checked by : Er. Shaikh Sohail (Principal Structural Engineer)
Approved by : Er. Shaikh Ismail (Chief Consultant)
1. PROJECT BRIEF
It has been proposed to erect two Frames Hoarding Frames adjacently as illustrated in fig. 1.
The two frames were set at an angle of 38 degrees to each other.

2. SCOPE OF WORK
NORD-THE DESIGN HUB consulting structural engineers, having their head office at
Chamber 03, Taha Heights, Rauzabaugh, Aurangabad has been appointed by Saurabh
Engineers & Graphics, India, for the structural design of the hoarding frames.

The scope of work includes, but not limited to, the following:

1. Structural Design of the Steel Frame

2. Design basis Report of the structure designed.
3. Structural and fabrication drawings of the designed frames

3. METHODOLOGY
This Structure has been analysed by simulating an integrated structural model using STAAD
Pro SS6. The model was prepared in accordance with the sizes, loadings and other parameters
which were provided in the document (e-mail dated 02-02-2022)
This report consists of the snapshots of the model simulated in STAAD Pro. The Snaps of the
rendered view of the structural frame modelled (Fig. 2), the dead loads, imposed loads, wind
and earthquake loads and their combinations has been clearly mentioned in the same.

5. WIND LOAD CALCULATION FOR HOARDING BOARD

Height of Existing building = 40 ft (12.2m)
Size of Hoarding Board = 6.130m X 3.01m
Height of hoarding board above floor level = 3 ft (0.9 m)
Location = Jaipur
Vb = 47 m/sec
Z = II (0.10)
Vz = K1 X K2 X K 3 X K4 X V b
Vz = 1 X 1.055 X 1 X 1 X 47
= 49.6 m/s
Pz = 0.6 X (Vz)2
= 0.6 X 49.62
= 1476 N/m2
= 1.476 kN/m2
Pd = K d X K a X K c X Pz > 0.7 X Pz
= 0.9 X 1 X 1 X 1.476 > 0.7 X 1.476
= 1.32 kN/m2 > 1.033 kN/m2
Tributary area affected by force (A) = 1.55 X 3.1 = 4.805 m2
Wind force = Pd X A = 1.32 X 4.805
= 6.34 kN
Drag Coefficient of wind force = 1.2 …………………. (for b/h = 0.5 to 6)
Wind force = 1.2 X 6.34 = 7.61 kN

Check for oblique wind

The value of Cf in the case is 1.7 X Cf = 1.7 × 1.2 = 2.04 on one edge and 0.44 X Cf = 0.44 ×
1.2 = 0.528 on another edge, for overall forces, Cf is to be considered average of these two
values, i.e., Cf (avg) = (2.04 + 0.528) / 2 = 1.284

Average wind force due to oblique wind = 1.284 X 6.32 = 8.2 kN (PL)
Dead load = Weight of Tube Section for Hoarding Board + Weight of Hoarding Board
Tube section for Hoarding board = 40 X 40 X 3.2. SHS
………Unit weight = 3.5 Kg/m
Dead load = 3.1 X3.5 X 10 = 108.5 Kg
Total Dead Load = 108.5 + 91.5 = 100 kg
= 2 kN (point load)
Live Load = 0.75 x 3.1 X 1
= 2.4 kN (point load)

DL = 2 kN, LL = 2.4 kN, WL = 8.2 kN

Note: All the Structural analysis, calculation and the design are in accordance with the data
provided by the client. The structure is safe and is capable of carrying the Machine and CC
Block’s loads safely without any risk. The vibrations caused by the machines were also
checked during the analysis, around twenty percent of the vibrations are carried by the CC
Block itself whereas eighty percent of the vibrations are carried by the spring FAEBI-580
having a diameter of 650mm. Also, according to the structural design the structure’s
maximum deflection is limited to 5mm.
