Ergonomics

My computer workstation needs to be improved. My hands aren’t in a proper or


comfortable position. My desk makes it so that the keyboard is too high for my hands to sit
comfortably. I could either put my keyboard on my lap or buy a desk with a keyboard tray to
solve my issue. My chair doesn’t give much back support so if I am working for long periods of
time, I have a sore back. To solve this problem, I can buy a chair with better back supports.
Another thing that’s wrong about my setup is the height of my monitor. I have to bend my neck
to see the screen properly. For this I can just raise my monitor with something sturdy. Overall,
my computer setup could use some work to be more comfortable.

Some other ways of improving your workspace are to make sure your keyboard and
mouse don’t interfere with your posture. For example, if you have the keyboard and mouse too
close then your arms may be crammed and in an uncomfortable position that will affect your
work performance. The lighting in the room can be an affecting factor. If there is a glare on your
screen, then your eyes are working harder to see what is underneath the glare and eventually
can irritate your eyes. Another thing to help comfortability is to exercise your body. You can
rotate your neck or kick your legs slightly. Anything to just move your body around a little.
There are many little ways to improve your workspace and it can make a major difference.

Its good to look for ways to improve your computer setup because if you don’t have a
comfortable position then it can lead to many problems for your body. For example, you can
get arthritis from typing constantly. You want to make sure your as comfortable as you can be.
You want to move around your legs or give your hands a break from working every once in
awhile. It’s a simple fix to avoid all of these problems that your body can have from your
computer setup.
