"The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot" by Margaret Mc…

Hello students! So today we’re going to be listening to “The Three Little

Aliens and the Big Bad Robot” and throughout the video we’re going to
Introduction/Hook work on this worksheet together so make sure you all have a pencil. Let’s
get started! :)

Instructional 1. Begin by introducing the book and activity (introduction above) and
instructing students to write their first and last names at the
Activities & designated area at the top of the paper. (1 minutes)
Strategies
2. Start by playing the book -
"The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot" by Margaret Mc…
- pause at 1:01 to make the first prediction on the worksheet. I will
attend to students who need help and reassure their answers as well.
Predictions should be related to information they have such as
“They will live on a new planet” or “They will split up instead of
staying together”. (2-3 minutes)
3. Continue to play the book until 2:09 and begin to work through
problem #1 on the worksheet. Students will come up with possible
solutions along the lines of “He will talk to them” or “He will live on
a different planet too”. (2-3 minutes)
4. Play the story again until 3:13. This is where the students will make
their next prediction. According to the beginning of the story the
answers should fall along the lines of “The robot will chew them up”
or “The robot will find the aliens”. (2-3 minutes)
5. Resume the story and pause again at 5:38. Begin by asking why the
characters ran to the other character’s house in the first place,
leading them to come up with the problem that matches the second
solution. (2-3 minutes)
6. Finish the story and work through the last two questions. Remind
students of where the aliens were to get them to come up with the
setting. For the theme, it can really be anything ranging from
“Listen to your siblings” to “Don’t split up” or anything about
staying together. (2-3 minutes)
7. Ask the students who their favorite character was and why. This is
Closure Activity just to add some more fun to the lesson to leave them with while
moving onto the next station. :)
Key Vocabulary or Before lesson: predict, problem, solution, setting, theme.
After the lesson: main character, purpose, predictions, problem, solution,
Concepts setting, conclusion, theme.
Informal: students will need to fully complete the worksheet for a
Assessments completion mark.
Hunter: access to rocking chair for focus purposes during other stations.
*Whoever needs help is allowed to ask, but a note will be made*
Accommodations Others who need help focusing will be given a reminder to stay on task.
Students who finish early can sit until their queue to move onto the next
station.
