PROPOSAL PAPER FORMAT, POWERPOINT PRESENTATION & PROPOSAL

DEFENSE MECHANICS
Second Semester, A.Y. 2021-2022

PROPOSAL PAPER FORMAT

The proposal paper should be comprehensive enough. It should contain the
preliminary pages such as approval sheet, table of contents, list of figures and tables as
well as the references and the research instrument/s.
The format includes the following important parts:

FOR QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

1. The Title- This is the first page of the research paper, the approved working
title by the research committee. It also contains the name of the author/s.
2. Chapter 1- Introduction to the Study
 Background and Theoretical Framework of the Study. The
background of the study presents the overview of the study. It justifies the
need for the current study and provides the foundation of the study. On the
other hand, the theoretical framework of the study shows the theoretical
bases for the study and related views in which the study was anchored
(choose at least one theory). This must not be more than 3 pages.
 Conceptual Framework (if necessary) includes the research paradigm and
its corresponding discussion.
 Statement of the Problem states the general and specific objectives of
the study.
 Research Hypothesis/Hypotheses (if there is) states the
hypothesis/hypotheses to be tested.
 Definition of Terms gives the conceptual and operational meanings of key
terms used in the study.
 Delimitation of the Study sets the limit and scope of the study in terms
of variables, data-gathering instrument, statistical tools to be used, etc.
 Significance of the Study explains the importance of the study and
identifies those who might benefit from the findings.
3. Chapter 2- Review of Related Literature usually explains the concept being
investigated, perhaps elucidate on the variables or factors that relate to this concept. It
contains at least 10 citations dated from 2011 to present except for theories.
4. Chapter 3- Research Design and Methodology
 Research Design includes the discussion of the research design which
guides the collection, measurement, and analysis of data.

 Methodology presents the sampling and description of the respondents,

research instruments to be used, complete procedures on how to gather the
data and statistical treatment to be applied in the study.

FOR QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

 Background of the Study. The background of the study presents the

 Theoretical and Epistemological Research Perspective presents the
theory of knowledge embedded in the theoretical research perspective and
thereby in the methodology. It also discusses the philosophical stance
informing the methodology and thus providing a context for the process and
grounding its logic and criteria. Specific theories of the study may be added.
 Statement of the Problem states the general and specific objectives of
the study.
 Assumptions of the Study consists of postulated premise that is accepted
to be true based on the theoretical framework and the worldviews of the
author.
 Definition of Terms gives the conceptual and operational meanings of key
terms used in the study.
 Delimitation of the Study sets the limit and scope of the study in terms
of variables, data-gathering instrument, statistical tools to be used, etc.
 Significance of the Study explains the importance of the study and
identifies those who might benefit from the findings.

participants, research instruments to be used, complete procedures on how
to gather the data and the data analysis procedure to be applied in the
study.

 The Role of the Researcher discusses the position and task of the
researcher in the conduct of the study.
 Ethical Considerations provides a brief a brief idea how ethical concerns
regarding the process of obtaining participation of key informants as data
source were secured.
Note: Follow the prescribed format by the college. The paper size to be used is 8.5”x11”
(short-sized bond paper). The font style is TAHOMA with size 12, double space and 1-inch
margin on all sides except on the left side with 1.5-inch margin.

ONLINE PROPOSAL DEFENSE MECHANICS

 The choice of the adviser must be done prior or after the concept defense. The
student/s will choose their adviser in consultation with the research professor and
the dean considering the expertise, research work and number of advisees.
 The students must have consulted their research paper with the adviser before the
scheduled proposal defense. At the same time, the adviser must have checked and
guided the researchers regarding their research paper.
 The proposal paper must be submitted to the research teacher 5 working days
before the defense via email or messenger.
 The defense is via google meet or any online platform preferred by the research
professor/ defense facilitator and the link will be given a day before the defense.
 The research professor will present the research committee for each group of
students depending on the availability of their panel members.
 The schedule of the defense per group will be announced after the submission of the
proposal paper.
 Since the defense is virtual in nature, each group are encouraged to record their
presentation and send it to their research professor/ defense facilitator at least two
days before the defense.
 The presentation is good for 10 minutes and 15 minutes for question and answer.
 Each group must identify their presenter, technician/s (who will manage the
presentation/ recording), and secretary (who will record the comments and
suggestions of the panel).
 Comments, Suggestions, and Recommendations of the panel members will be done
after the presentation of each group and must be recorded by the defense facilitator
and the chosen secretary of each group.
 Each group members are encouraged to find a better connectivity during their
scheduled defense.
