X Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation: At the beginning of the lesson, we will go over the goals
we are trying to achieve before digging into the lesson and then begin the lesson with
a starter video of basic needs for animals. Once the video is finished students will
understand what they have to do to find facts about their animal and by the end of
the this lesson they will understand the basic needs of all sorts of animals. Students
will do research on any animal of their choice to see what their specific needs are to
survive. Therefore they will do an activity project like a poster or e-book about their
animal online and present to their classmates when finished.
Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? Students will need an attention grabber.
Students will be put into groups of 3 and they will come up with a short story book together.
One will draw the pictures or get pictures of their animal through online, another person will
do the research, and the other one will put the book together online.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The activity of using a premade example of an e-book a
previous student or teacher has made, will inspire students to do one just like it but with
their favorite animal. Activity will help support them to research and use youtube to find
interesting facts about their animal if they could not find information elsewhere or in another
case they may have a disability where they need facts being read to them to be able to gather
information. This activity can be made by any students, it is all-inclusive.
Reflecting on enhanced learning:
I really look forward to seeing my students make their own fact book about their animals. A
lot of students put a lot of thought and creativity when it comes to doing something they like,
in this case their favorite animal. Students will learn a little of how an animal survives and this
will help my student improve their interest on how to use technology to do more research on
other animals they may find interest in.
